Well done mate another great video very good explanation on how to get the angles right which always catches the eyes of the customers, coming up to 10,000 subscribers well done 👍 for that as well... you have worked hard to make channel successful 👌
Thanks a lot mate. I really appreciate your constant support and thank you so much for watching my videos. It means a lot. Nearly at the 10,000 Mark pal 👍. Thanks again Paul - you're a legend!
For those change of angles on sloped ceilings, I like to throw a laser level and fit a stop bead. That way you know it's 100% straight and level. Then simply plaster upto the stop bead which acts like a guide.
You ever look down a stop bead? It’s like a snake. No chance of getting a line as straight as using the string line trick! Laser level is another cracking idea aswel tbf!
Blaine, bit late to this, but those angles are super-sharp & love how you show us how to build up those concave slopes. On point as always 👌.Cheers mate 👍
Good video. I like it a lot. Can you show us? how to plaster a staircase using ladders etc. How come no one has done a video on plastering an awkward staircase? nightmare
Just did a ceiling at the top of stairwell that turned on 2 separate flights a nightmare for working of steps we simply built a 4* 2 platform decked with half inch ply but made it so as to leave just enough room so u could just squeeze past up and down the stairs were still usable then simply used a small hop up from the platform to set the ceiling worked a treat nice and safe and no probs getting to every part of the ceiling comfortably the client luved it so much we numbered up the parts for him to re use if he ever needs to get up there mats cost about £70 and took just a few hours to build it rearly did work well and put a big access problem to bed
I might have dubbed out that area with oa skim of bonding. you didn't fancy that idea? All good videos from you. Good to see all the new tools and techniques available now.
Have u ever tried Gaz's magic mix? (Bonding and Multi)...... he uses it for hitting artex, but it's also great for first coat where you've got some straightening to do......
I like your vids, get some info on tools I've not tried before. I'd say on this one (unfortunately from experience) that ceiling needs to be done first then you can ping both top and bottom which will help. Did one last week I thought I'd get away with.. I didn't.. my laser showed me I was well out! Never mind can always blame the tackers! 😅
Top videos on plastering, and ive learned a lot. Just a quick question, if a wall has gone off and you noticed a few little voids/dents whats the best wsy to get them out? A little filler and sand down? Any help will be appreciated
Hawk Steel trowel (nela premium trowel) Finishing trowel (Refina superflex) Speed skim (900mm) 40L Flexi tub (for mixing in) 5 builders buckets (for water, washing, mixing PVA etc) Panel brush (think they're 6inch? For flicking water, washing etc) Mixing drill 90° corner trowel Midget trowel Tin snips (for beads) Sponge float (if one coating) That should get you started, general tools also help such as hammer, tape measure etc That's just off the top of my head
Hi mate what is the difference between plaziflex and superflex2 are they both the same for finishing the plaster? Do they have any difference on the visual final finish?
Hi Blaine,i have learned so much from your tutorials ,really appreciate them,im having another go at plastering after the first attempt was a fail, however, after stripping back the wallpaper the plasterboard has been painted and only the joints filled, problem is all the joints have fallen apart,ie i pulled the paper and it left me with open joints, whats the best way to prep the wall? reapply jointing compound and new tape, would i then pva the whole wall or just the painted areas?appreciate any advice, cheers Richard
Hello pal! Good on you. Firstly I'd PVA the whole area with a mix of 3:1 (3 water/ 1 PVA) and then I'd fill any low spots or blown plaster with British Gypsum Bonding. This way you'll be plastering onto an even background. That's what I'd do pal!
Hi mate not bad but as a fellow plastera I all ways tape my velux and frames u get a better and cleaner edge and all ways pull dips with bonding and then 2 coats of multi good vid thow mate keep up the work 👍
U need to take care when hammering nails into the corner of a room cos it's a safe zone for wiring, so make sure you're happy theres no cables running up there....👍👍👍👍👍
Hi mate, thanks again. I think they are a right pain in the arse because if there's any movement then the laser line bounces out of track again. I found I was constantly playing with it so in the the end I binned it off ha! Try for yourself though - I have heard of people using it!
Sorry if you’ve said already but what size Speedskim would you recommend for ceilings and walls, 900 or 1200? Not used one before but want to give one a go!
Hi mate I'm ok at plastering small areas myself, what's your advise on bigger walls? By the time I get the wall covered the left hand side where I started is drying up and is harder to work.
If you struggle to keep up you can use Extratime - this gives you an extra 30 minutes with your mix which makes bigger walls a lot easier to deal with pal. Hope this helps mate!

I have two corner trowels worthy of the bin. Any advice on them please. I have two Marshaltown corner trowels one plastic adjustable angle pointless can't angle it less than what it is for example 80 degree or even get it set up to 90 degree angle. Then I ordered another but stainless steel Marshalltown still left with a problem the angle of the trowel in more like a 100 degree angle which is pointless on most corners when you use it the edges make heavy score marks wanting to take of plaster even if I try to angle it still seems to be a problem. It requires me to squeeze the blade's to get it into the corner. What is the one u are using I need one like yours which looks a bit smaller than mine please help sir
It's about getting your timings mate pointless doing using the corner trowel while the angle is still soaking wet as it will leave a mark on your walls in the corners I think the ragni corner trowels are better than marshalltown,I use the corner trowel after it's had a flatten and then it's first wet trowel then I use it leaves no marks or imperfections the walls are on and setting but there not soaking wet that's the best time to use it
I'll be honest @mpapa I find that the Marshalltown corner Trowel's are massively disappointing! Everyone I've used have been a total let down - they are awful! Timings are crucial but try a corner Trowel from another company my friend. It makes the world off difference 👍
100% agree with plastering for beginners there get rid of your marshalltown corner trowels I binned my one years ago get yourself a refina or a ragni one I have both, just experiment with them and find a happy medium with your timings and when to use them and you will be fine

Hi mate! I'd use the plastic Speedskim - it takes a bit of time to get used to it but it's a brilliant to when it's broken in. If you like that then I'd buy the Stainless steel Speedskim to use in conjunction with the plastic one! Hope this helps mate 👍

Hacking the wood away when cleaning your door frames is not good, always better to use a small scraper, much better control. Always having to tell my apprentice about that.
Just to let you know to be able to do a loft conversion regards to plastering you need to be a professional not a one week course whether you watched a TH-cam video or tried it yourself you just will not do it it’s a simple as that
Hi Steve. I am not a plasterer but we have a house where all walls need bonding and skim. The top floor has a sloping ceiling. I had zero plastering experience but a great willingness to have a go. I followed Blaine's methods to the tee. True it is not to a professional standard BUT it looks very good!!! Much better than I thought it would. As I move down the house the plastering gets flatter and better. Funny thing is I thought the sloping ceilings would be harder than the horizontal ones. They are not!!!! The horizontal ones are blody hard work.

Hacking the wood away when cleaning your door frames is not good, always better to use a small scraper, much better control. Always having to tell my apprentice about that.
Toe the line
wrong beads pal, should be micro mesh beads plaster will come off those beads, just a tip.
Bollocks. They wouldn't sell them if the plaster fell of.... numpty
Just to let you know to be able to do a loft conversion regards to plastering you need to be a professional not a one week course whether you watched a TH-cam video or tried it yourself you just will not do it it’s a simple as that
Anyone can do it with Practice mate.
Safe to say hes not on price work 😂
What a big headed turd you are .Its a tuition video, or are you that far up your arse you can’t see it .... Can’t wait for your series of videos you prick!
Thanks Ronnie mate. You hit the nail on the head pal, cheers!
