unfortunately the video is dark again! but i know whats causing it now!
i wish i could express myself better than i did in this video, so i'll probably take it down later, but like i said i wanted to speak on it bc i was someone who praised and enjoyed her work. its very upsetting that she abused her power as creative director and the things she's done is disgusting.

my heart sank when 16 year old yeojin talked about her favorite flavor of dieting jellies on one of her mylives. like obviously the dieting that all kpop idols are forced to go through is not okay but its just so horrible knowing she was so young and already had such an unhealthy relationship with food. that was kind of the moment that really opened my eyes to how horrible blockberry was as a company (as well as the idol industry in general)

    • @supersucks
      @supersucks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +27

why? because if you’re young you’re easier to manipulate. Like that’s the whole thing. Young minds are impressionable and because if they get them to train while they’re young these kids won’t have any other option in their career line instead to hope to become an idol. I think Lucas said this, like you’re so invested in being a trainee for years, instead of going to high school so if you don’t become a successful idol you have to catch up on your studies or either become a cashier. Why companies make them go to Idol schools like SOPA instead of a real school, so they won’t have a choice.
(FYI SOPA isn’t a typical school, it’s mostly just for certification and show to say they graduated. Most of them still train and learn in their company facilities)

I always think about it like this- would they let a 14 year old go work at a bank just because they are naturally ‘good at maths’ or are passionate for banking… No! Everyone would still recognize that they are a child and that it is frankly ridiculous! Your brain is still developing and changing so people who say ‘they can decide for themselves’ need to stfu. Adults need to take care of kids and teens as they don’t know what’s best for themselves all the time. How many child actors have come out and said how traumatizing their childhood was. How many taemins and boas and wonyoungs need to say how much they regret giving up their childhoods for y’all to listen!! Why not let them live their lives and do more training and let them debut as adults who actually know what they are getting themselves into! As for min heejin, god will judge her accordingly but we seriously need to shame her and boycott her so she cannot work with anymore minors.

Undeniably, she has great taste, and the projects she was/is in charge of are amazing...for 20+ year olds. Thank you, ajanaevis, for this. Kpop is fun but shit like this is so common it’s crazy, especially in 2022. There are too many examples of minors undergoing plastic surgery, being dressed sexily and overall being s*xualized by fans and industry seniors. Will it be different for this girls? I doubt it. Will this continue the trend of debuting kids? Totally.

Topics like this always remind me of a thought that I vocalized to my mom a little while ago. Being a kpop stan is such a moral dilemma because on one side of things you want to support your idols because you know how much they worked to be where they are at and the ammount they've had to endure to get there. However, on the flip side you also know that Kpop Companies are exploiting these idols, selling them as products, and not treating them like humans. I might make a video about it sometime in the future, but yeah this whole situation is just dissapointing and honestly stomach-churning.

i really need people to realize that kpop at its core is an exploitative and it’s “good to support the girls” but the heads of the companies do not care about that at the end of the day. sure you can argue the market is for teens and tweens, but there’s constant trends of more grown adults stanning children and that is the problem of making the debut of minors a norm
i also need people the understand that the girls cannot do anything about this and sending any type of hate towards them makes no sense, they are quite literally victims of a very sick system. i hope they have as safe of a career as possible

OMG thank you for bringing up the Yuna situation at MAMA! I mentioned this in a comment once and was told I was weird for thinking it’s strange that they’re pole dancing in latex, leather collars and masks as a man watches them, only a few days after she turned 18. When the week before people were complaining her black dress was too sexy for a minor. The beginning of the performance was clearly meant to look like a… show. And we all know what the lyrics of LOCO are about. 👀 Yeji isn’t talking about a cat 🐱. And every week on the lead up to her 18th birthday people were saying “stop sexualising Yuna” but as soon as she turned 18 it stopped. That’s so weird, she’s still a kid. Why do people think that 18 magically made it okay to sexualise her…
But anyway I definitely feel like the whole point of that MAMA performance was the liberation from being controlled. That’s why Ryujin took off the collar from Yeji and killed the guy that was watching. The creative director said it’s all about women having freedom. But I find it so ironic that in Kpop, they’re constantly acting out stuff that they can’t actually do in their own lives. They can’t get rid of the creepy men controlling or watching them. But they pretend to do it for our entertainment. Like with New Jeans “being teenagers” going to parties falling in love, but now because they debuted they won’t ever actually experience those things like everyone else. Hopefully things change in 4th/5th generation and idols are allowed creative and personal freedom but as they are debuting so young, i doubt it. Young idols are easier to control so I think companies try and capitalise off that.

THANK YOUUUU for pointing out how people are so quick to defend outwardly nasty concepts/dances/stages or whatever by saying they're "owning their sexuality" (when they're barely legal or not even legal at all) or accusing the person calling it out of being a creep... like, i'm not a creep for thinking it's weird to have a minor wearing revealing outfits and dancing suggestively. i've been a young girl myself and have experienced firsthand how some adults don't know how to act. i want these idols to be protected and, ideally, i want there to be a minimum age of 18 at the youngest for idols to debut or even be taken on as a trainee (cuz let's be real, trainees have it harder than debuted idols)

the only way this can change, not only for newjeans, but the industry to get a wake up call is for EVERYONE to boycott this group, which sadly won't happen. just taking a look at their album preorders is enough to tell me a lot of people do not give a fuck! surprising... i know a lot of people argue the girls have no blame and i agree, but it's just not right to stan them or even listen to their music casually because at the end it's still support that the company will see directly through numbers and they'll continue thinking "oh well no one had a problem with us debuting young teens so i won't stop" which will also be seen by other companies who'll recreate it after seeing the success.

The history of adults exploding children never ends, it's in Hollywood, in the kpop industry, everywhere. I'm still a big fan of newjeans, I think the girls are very talented and no one denies that, it's the path that them and their family chose, they will suffer for sure because being known by so many people is not easy at all, but they will learn and I hope nothing really bad happens to them, you know, with so many weirdos spread here and there. We may never even know about them. The only reason why we are able to speak on her like this because she has a public image. Many managers, producers, and directors do not. South Korea needs better legislature to protect these minors if companies insist on debuting them.

as someone who is a minor/teenager i’m glad to see this being talked about and brought to light these days. it’s simply never okay to sexualize anyone if they’re not comfortable but it is WAY worse when it is involving a minor in any aspects that may feel weird or unusual for them. i find it so so weird how min heejin is already using these girls for her disturbing profit although idk if she’s the one putting them in uncomfortable outfits like that or anything but if she is, it just gives me the absolute icks. and like you said most teenagers do dress like that but the huge difference is we’re the ones choosing our clothes, not grown adults. and even tube tops i would say are more suitable for 18 or older too, but still it’s so odd even with that. it really reminds me a bit of the britney spears situation where i think when she was like in the hit me baby one more time mv she was seen being exploited in a schoolgirl outfit which was sorta revealing and even that raised a few eyebrows from people at the time tbf. but we need to start doing something about companies debuting kids SO young! now i don’t have hope that this will ever stop being a thing in this generation as we’ve seen with certain groups debuting at similar ages but let’s hope it can end soon becuz i’m tired of hearing another poor child being taken advantage of by adults in general. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Honestly I feel the entire kpop industry is weird. The artists are getting younger on average and Honestly, given the sexlessness in South Korea, it's alarming who these young artists are being promoted to.

the girls are getting way too young to debut and they’re still growing and maturing. the idol industry is very dangerous for young people because it’s so sexualised and they’re gonna be heavily affected by dieting (forced or by choice). and the amount of HATE groups get sometimes so they should - at the youngest - be debuting at like 16/17

16/17 is still too young... minors should not be debuting at ALL.

you said all of this to still want minors to debut...

idk if this might sound crazy and i might get called delusional for this but honestly people aren't focusing on the fact that the guardians of these CHILDREN even allowed them to audition in the first place?? this messed up culture is rooted so deep so far as families that none of the people who are supposed to care for their well-being even stop to think about how messed up the industry is.

aya if im being honest i used to really dislike ur channel because i thought you had questionable takes, but i'm glad ur one of the few ktubers that can put kpop aside to discuss a much broader topic thts too nuanced for twt. u did well and its def needed as newjeans stans have loose screws in their head and think bringing this topic up is just to hate on the girls/fanwars. ty for this video bb

Lots of people are saying that newjeans should not be supported by fans anymore as MHJ said how hyein haerin and hanni reached out to her plus how hyein cried and how haerin wanted to hear her voice and hanni was worried about her, the thing Is MHJ already brainwashed them, I mean she is an evil woman and do not even deserve 20% of newjeans, she produced classic music which made NJ shine so much, but what we never knew was this extreme evil side of her, newjeans already is brainwashed, I feel so bad for them, I already went in depression cuz of gfriend and now my new happiness is about to fade, please hybe save them istg, I will never listen to kpop if newjeans is gone, they are my everything.
