I NEVER expected this finale to go in this direction. I really thought the boys and Omega were gonna find a way to save Crosshair. Not lose two of their own in the process. I’m just absolutely gutted.

Plan 99 has to be a tribute to Clone 99, who sacrificed himself to save his brothers. Thats what plan 99 is, a sacrifice of oneself to save the team.

Maybe, it’s a little reductive if so, they never met him and he’s from a totally different show. It makes more sense that it’s an internal squad order where the squad has to survive over the single soldier.... they ARE clone force 99 which makes more sense
@Corvus 2 if you remember 99 says he knows all clones so its completely reasonable that he knew the bad batch. Plus they are clone force 99 so I'm 100% positive they knew him and knew what he did.

Not only is that one of the funniest lines in the show, it is also now one of the saddest. Damn you, foreshadowing.
It's ironic that Saw attempted to blow up Krennic. In the end, it was Krennic who would blow him up.

I'm a little lost on the timeline.. but I believe at that time Krennic hadn't killed Lyra Erso yet, right? So that wasn't even Saw going for revenge

I'm not joking, when I'm saying, this is the first time in 7 years I have genuinely cried in Star Wars. All of Star Wars. Tech's death was more than heartbreaking. For a lighthearted Star Wars-series these two episodes sure were really dark!
I didn't cry, but yeah, I was shaken and sad for the rest of the day. It still doesn't feel real.

Lighthearted? You and I haven't been watching the same show because there is very little lighthearted-ness in this show. Mostly this season.
I like, that the third season now has a reason to exist. Because, let's be honest with ourselves: If they just went to Mount Tantiss, Crosshair got redeemed and the whole attempt of, whatever it is they're doing, got foiled, it would've been a bit too clichè. This way it was surprising and engaging.
It was definitely a surprise. I don't think they have confirmed anything about a season 3, but that was probably withheld so that we were left in the dark about this finale. It worked amazingly well, but I wish they confirmed Season 3 in the post credits
... Was there a post credits? I have to go check now haha

Yh ur right, as much as this finale was painful I feel like it needed to happen for S3 to happen. That said, I feel like they could resolve the situation in a 2-part premiere and be done with it and back to filler so idk aha. I think the story could work better as a short film, maybe thats why they havent announced S3.
Honestly, I'm thinking Omega, Crosshair, Emerie and the other imprisoned clones might bust themselves out (Who knows what other clones are in there)
Then we'll get this intriguing couple of episodes where Crosshair and Omega are wandering through the galaxy, trying to find the rest of the Bad Batch
What a finale. That shot of Tech falling will stay with me forever.
Star wars has not hurt me like this since Kanan's sacrifice. An incredible yet painful finale.

They even got Ben Mendelsohn to voice Krennic's singular line. Now that's dedication!
Saw is the exact definition of what Yoda's words to Ezra warned him about. "How Jedi choose to win, the question is."
Reckless abandon, trying to win by any means necessary, leading to a lot of hurt and good people caught in the crossfire.
It's like burning down a forest just to take down a few rotten trees. In the aftermath, instead of the lives you're trying to preserve, all you have left is ash.
Such an unexpected outcome, Hemlock is proving to be quite a formidable foe for the Batch.
That’s the thing despise hemlock for what he does to the clones. But I also love be him as an antagonist

Just need to give a shout-out to composer Kevin Kiner who is a an absolute legend!! He’s been on his A-game all season bringing a different musical flavor to each episode. Plan 99 might be his best score yet though! The music during Tech’s death scene was so devastating and soul crushing but still so epic. I’m constantly blown away that an animated show like this has such incredible music. He’s beyond amazing!

These last two episodes were so reminiscent of the original John Williams scores and Michael Giacchino’s score for Rogue One as well, I loved it so much. It went from a classic, OT-esque tone and feel to the intensity of Rogue One.
This finale had so many parallels to the end of ESB, which makes me think the show will be wrapping up with season 3. This is their dark middle chapter. Like Empire, we ended with our heroes utterly defeated and licking their wounds, though with a glimmer of hope to keep looking for their captured friend/family. Then we get a twist family connection on top of that. What an absolute bonkers end to the season that nobody could have prepared for.

This was without a doubt one of the darkest season finales to any Star Wars show
Saw Garrera got Tech killed. Next time we see him it better involve Wrecker decking him so hard he looks like he just walked out of Rebels.
Oh man, can you imagine if that breathing apparatus Saw wears during Rouge One is needed because Wrecker smashed his ribs?!

I might be coping super hard here but I wouldn't put it past them to have Tech survive somehow. We didn't see the body, everyone else in the batch survived with some injuries, & Hemlock wants every clone he can get, I don't think he'd leave Tech's remains there at the very least. I'm hoping he'll show up as a crazed prototype cyborg trooper or something so we can have the bad batch go through that emotional ordeal while freeing Tech from his "misery"
I'm pretty sure Tech is alive. I think plan 99 means something besides "I kill myself", and there's a very interesting look that Hunter gives when he sees the goggles - not sad at all. Also the fact that they made a point to show us that is the most telling. And I mean, the classic "broken glasses is all that is found" like, 100% results in the character being alive.
I rly hope hes alive too, but if he has to come back as permanently injured or partly cyborg death trooper, I'd rather him just stay dead.
Nah Tech surviving would ruin the impact of his sacrifice. As much as I like his character the realness of him sacrificing his life for the others is what makes the episode so powerful. I didn't think the writers actually had the balls to do it but now that they did it I hope they don't change it.
@@colbybartos1032 I'm with you as far as my personal feelings go, but if I had to bet money I would place it on the "Somehow, Tech has returned" wager. Star Wars really loves bringing back supposedly dead characters, plus this is part of a series aimed at younger viewers where the writers are even more restricted about these things. However, I'm with you in wanting the pain to mean something by having him remain gone... definitely not going to skip next season 😂
he needs to remain dead or there no stakes in the show and everything is irrelevant.
The thing about stories like this is that this is an era where characters we have come to know from the era before the battle of Yavin, probably don’t survive. But the writers do such a damn good job building up characters to where we care for them and want them to live, that we actually feel the shock and pain and even sometimes make us forget some of the inevitability that not everyone will survive. I legit was praying that Tech would survive, that the Bad Batch would end with them all finding peace on Pabu. But now the harsh reality of the era we are in settles into the story and it feels soul-crushing. RIP Tech. And a big ol’ “Screw you” to Saw.

Tech’s death and Omega wanting to go back was like the end of Republic Commando and Sev’s disappearance. SEV IS ALIVE
Watching Scorch be the one to nab Omega was heartbreaking. I know Republic Commando is legends now, but I remember his reaction to leaving Sev behind, and seeing him assist in breaking up the Batch's family was like a true death of personality.
The way Tech fell, it looked like the train car would land on him.
Judging from the angle he was hanging, that is very likely.
The loss of Tech broke me, as a neurodivergent person Tech is the first person in a long time I truly felt like I connected with, and now, he’s gone, and I feel hollow inside, I miss him so much

I'm not so sure that he is dead. We didn't see a body. As another person on the post for this video noted, he could have been picked up by Saw. He could also have been retrieved by the Imperials, could have caught his fall somehow, etc.
Same. As a neurodivergent person, Tech had already caught my attention, but this season cemented him as my favorite clone ever (and overall, one of my favorite SW characters). Then again, it's a common trope that a character that is presumably dead might be alive if the evidence of his demise is vague.

"a little fall"? That were probably thousands of meters he fell. The mountain the conference was held, looked really high.
Yeah - the fact that Hemlock recovered his goggles means he may have recovered the body. Who knows what crazy experiments he might perform? We may see Tech again, though he may be altered. This would mirror Echo's situation a lot too.

I hope that Tech stays dead. I really love Tech but if they bring him back, we now do have another meaningless sacrifice scene. Since Hamlock found the goggles, there is the possibility that he has Techs body, which will probably be brought back to live due to some experiments

I'm so mad at Saw for leading to the Tech's presumed death. It felt so sudden even if the signs were there. I have a feeling he's still alive. I think Hemlock recovered the body and would benefit from experimenting with it. Maybe we'll end up seeing Tech with... Well, a bunch of tech. Cyborg Tech time
Its possible if hè wasnt there with his merry band of flunkys the badbatch would have got out without issue , instead hè got most of his team killed to effectivly vandalise tarkens compound , and as a result got tech killed, and the others badly hurt to the point where the went to cid for BZ which led to omega getting taken

I’ve got to complement Michelle Angs acting in Plan 99, i’d say it’s probably the best acting she’s done the entire show and she sounded generally devastated and in despair when tech sacrificed himself
Those were a set of banger episodes, but I really don't think Tech needed to die for it to have worked for me.
One part of me loved his final words, him embracing the Batch's identity of clones who never followed orders to the letter, and I think it also was important for Omega to learn about loss
But on the other hand it's awful because the show spent so long giving Tech so much more depth, from his racing, to him addressing his emotional disconnect with Omega, and even seeing him form a slightly awkward but charming relationship with Phee, just for him to be written out of the story, possibly to account for the core team being made up of too many members.
I loved both of these episodes, and seeing the Batch fail is always a good way to show their limits, but it's just a shame that Tech had to be killed after only one season of proper development 😭
They gave him all this development so his death meant something and we would feel it. You basically said all this but didn't connect the dots. Also, I highly doubt it would've worked as well without Techs death.

I think people should accept that killing off a character is not necessarily writing it off the story, his absence will matter, his sacrifice will matter. As much as I liked him, I think he should stay dead. It's important to keep death something that happens in star wars, even to main characters, something that is lacking in the Mandalorian (only Quill had a significant death) and that Andor did well with Marva and Nemik for example. Characters like Kaanan, Windu, Anakin, Obi-Wan, all of this should absolutely stay dead as much as I love them

This finale solidified Season 2 as a masterpiece to me. It subverted my expectations in every way, and the right way in my opinion. This was very much an Empire Strikes Back type moment, and I hope people don't misinterpret that as "bad writing" or whatever, because it's simply superb. I adored this finale, and the season as a whole. Gripping, emotional, and so much more. Can't wait for the story to continue!
This feels like a mission in XCOM gone really wrong, where you go into a "high risk high reward" mission, but end up failing the objective and losing one of your highest ranked troops in the process
An XCOM mission where Murphy's Law ("Everything that can go wrong, WILL go wrong") was in full swing and you're on an Ironman playthrough where you can't turn back time to previous saves. You make the best of the bad situation you stumbled into and deal with the losses...
The minute we got that scene with Tech and Fi (?), I said to myself "oh no, Tech's gonna die..." I've never been more sad to be right. I was close to tears.
I'm frustrated that we didn't get an attempt at a Crosshair rescue this season, but I cannot WAIT for season three to come around now.
Hunter's face when Hemlock's shuttle took off broke my heart. I had tears streaming down my face when Tech died but when Hunter lost Omega, I flat out sobbed.😭😢😢
I am in serious mourning over this episode. My heart just burst and I just broke down as everything fell apart near the end. This is their ESB. So, hopefully we have a strong Return of the Bad Batch next season.

I was worried as soon as they said they needed to go to AZI. Cid did seem genuinely discomforted by selling out the Batch and it did also seem like the Empire was crawling around the place. Maybe she did feel stuck and like this was her only out. At the very least, it didn't seem vindictive like she was threating. Hope she provides the Batch Intel on Mt Tantis and provides them with back up when they go. I don't think this can be the last we see of her.

I really liked this season, especially the second half. I was wondering why Tech had been getting so much spotlight throughout the episodes compared to the rest of the cast, but as soon as I saw him hanging off the monorail that last time, I understood why. The writers were smart to focus on him in order to make that final moment more impactful.
The other thing I really liked was Hemlock, he has proven to be a really competent villain and I'm digging his character. It would have been very easy to just make Tarkin the main antagonist, or any other known imperial, but they managed to make the evil scientist cliche distinctive and effective enough. Definitely a step up from Rampart.
2:27 I couldn’t agree more. Saw Gerrera is his own worst enemy. What’s so sad is that he has the resources of a powerful militant but the strategic thinking of a hooligan. Luthen Rael is setting up for the checkmate while Saw is more or less egging imperial fortresses.

Plan 99 must be how people felt after watching Empire Strikes Back in the 80's. This episode also showed up that Scorch is as capable as any of the Bad Batch. Still worried for them if the Empire decides to reform Delta Squad to wipe out Clone Force 99.
This final was amazing.
I lost my mind when Krennic made an Appearance
Tech was my favorite core member of the Bad Batch, watching him in the beginning of the episode struggle to flirt and have a conversation just got me thinking about how he’s my favorite, and then they took him away! And the fact that he had to look Wrecker in the eyes while sacrificing himself made it hurt even more, they were the best duo in the show

He said the goggles were all he could salvage not find. Without knowing how high up they were, Tech probably exploded when he hit the ground. I don't want Tech to be gone, but I'm almost 100% he is
Honestly at this state, I'd prefer Tech to rest in peace 🥺 Suffering that amount of injuries and potentially being tortured/interrogated... Yeah RIP Tech😢
As much as I hate to say it, I hope Tech isn't alive. To end a season with his death and then to have it turn out he's alive would kill the moment tbh. While I am a believer that you can't be certain of anyone's death in Star Wars until you see a body I don't think they would show the lifeless corpse of one of the main characters in an animated show, I think the broken goggles were meant to signify the fact that he is truly gone. Fantastic episodes overall, A real rollercoaster of emotions yesterday morning going from seeing my favourite member of the Ghost Crew so beautiful in Mando to seeing my second favourite member of the bad batch die.
I'm furious as well, but hey I have to give props to the showrunners for going their own way and shocking us so much. At least now there's A LOT of demand for Season 3!

All this season's Bad Batch missions (aside from one mission) were Failures - a foretelling to this ending. As Yoda said, "The greatest teacher failure is".

Now we have the long, grueling wait for season 3. But in the here and now, I'm waiting on the trivia video for T.B.B. season 2.
Also, one of the two Imperial officers on the left hand side of the table is Hurst Romodi, he was the bald guy that told Tarkin about the attack on Scarif in "Rouge One" and was at the conference table with Antonio Motti, Wulf Yularen, and Cassio Tagge when Tarkin and Vader walked in during "A New Hope".
Going into these episodes I had the thought that Omega was always a bit too cheery going into potentially deadly missions. She always acted like it was just an adventure without risk (which up until now, it was). This changed that for sure.
I personally never thought that, I always liked her optimism because it makes her stand out from the others and we are meant to feel the way she does, though there's a chance that this particular experience might change her a bit in that regard
Honestly the way that we all expected them to go to mount Tantiss reminds me of the way we all expected a clone rebellion to happen in the finale of season 1, I think it's very clear at this point that the writers are trying to approach the story of how the Empire phased out the Clones very slowly, honestly I don't expect the clone Rebellion to fully happen until the very end of the series itself
I was shocked seeing Tech give his life, especially in the Second Season. His sacrifice was so emotional and real, and it breaks my heart seeing Omega and Wrecker so emotionally devastated.
Also, it's intriguing that the scientist who detained Crosshair is another female clone like Omega. The Empire's Genetics Experiments look so eerie, like seeing Snoke's prototypes on Exegol. Perhaps this is the beginning of those experiments, or potentially that of the Red-Armoured Cloned Army Sidious had on Exegol.

I cried a little when Tech Died
I really love this show. Almost as much as I loved The Clone Wars series. Can we talk about how great the animation is, by the way? Some of those wide shots where they hold the view for a few seconds-they are absolute works of art.
I like how we actually saw hunter echo and wrecker shoot lethals at clones. When they were rushing to get to omega they bodied a few commandos. It shows how desperate they were to get to her and weren't gonna let anyone stop them.
"Omega, I am your sister."
Omega: "Whaaaaat??!"

Really cant believe that The Batch lost everything. I felt so broken watching the finale
“He’s alive” made me laugh and cry
Of all the shows that could’ve emotionally crushed me, I didn’t think Bad Batch would be the one to do it. Absolutely phenomenal ending, I didn’t think they’d take such a dark turn.
One thing I can say is interesting is that the Walker used in the finale. It looks almost like the AT-XT seen in legends of the Clone Wars
According to the episode guide, that’s an AT-AC (no word what the appreciation stands for yet)
I hate to say it, but the odds of Tech surviving a fall like that aren't very good. That railcar was literally right on top of him as he was falling and would have finished the job even if he somehow survived the drop. The reason why they didn't show his dead body onscreen can all be summed up to some Disney executive saying: "It's a kids show". 😥
I found it very interesting when the scientist lady had a Kiwi accent, now it makes sense.
The finale was phenomenal but so heartbreaking. I am intrigued to discover more about Emerie's background, and I can't wait to discover how Crosshair and Omega get rescued in S3!
Kinda ironic the batch spared Saw just to have him be the indirect cause to Techs "death"
Damn, these episodes were so unexpected. It seemed to obvious that the Batch would find their way to Tantis, make a cool infiltration and save Crosshair, then possibly chill on Pabu or decide to join the fight once they see the horrors of the Empire. WOW were we wrong, I never saw this coming, and Tech's death is actually heartbreaking

The whole thing was so heartbreaking. I never expected to lose one of them. I had all the same feelings as you. As the show went on, I kept having the sinking feeling it wasn’t going to end well 😢
For all the episodes this season that got the label of "filler" slapped on them, these last two episodes have my heart crying out, "Oh, for more fun, lighthearted filler." This reminds me of a book series that I consider one of my favorite fantasy series of all time, but it still makes me cry. I'm one who likes to skip ahead and read the end of a book first, but when my brother gave me the final book to read I was given specific instructions not to read the end until I reached it. I mostly listened, skipping ahead to the end once I was only a few chapters away. That just meant I got to cry multiple times. The first book in the series is criticized by some for being too slow, but after reading the entire series, experiencing the heartbreaking, yet somehow hopeful end, I appreciate the slower pace of the beginning, before everything got so turned upside down. At the beginning of the story the core characters are three children, their mother, grandfather and pet dog. At the end of the story only three of these six are still living, one of the dead having sacrificed his life for his brother.
I still skip ahead when reading books, but for these new Star Wars series I've been attempting a bit more self control, trying to avoid too many major spoilers before I actually watch the episode, which can be difficult because I don't have the opportunity to watch the episodes until evening. I'm not really on any social media platforms, though I watch TH-cam a fair bit, and yesterday morning one of the first things to pop up in my recommendations was a clip titled "Tech Death Scene." I'm not sure if it prepared me or just made me feel melancholy all day.
Despite the length this comment is already, I'll nonetheless go into my "He's alive" speculations. First of all, it's kind of a Star Wars trope that some characters have to be killed several times before they're really dead. Many characters who should have died have lived, often with cybernetics. Echo is literally missing half of his organic body, yet the Techno Union managed to keep him alive. We know Hemlock found Tech's body, so I wouldn't be surprised if he also took Tech's body to use for his experiments, especially if there was still even a slight tremor of life left, even after such a great fall. I'm sure Hemlock could find a use for Tech's mind, even if the rest of his body was broken. Hemlock could very well keep Tech alive and use him much the same way the Techno Union used Echo.
I like this idea of the possibility of Tech being mostly alive but not the same Tech his brothers knew. In addition to likely needing a cybernetic body, I like the idea of some other form of injury, such as him being blind. It seems most of the blind characters in Star Wars have some sort of Force connection, so I think it'd be interesting to see a more normal sort of person deal with blindness, especially one like Tech who uses his eyes for so much of his observations. The idea of amnesia also crossed my mind, though I only like it if it's not permanent, otherwise it's just way too heartbreaking. Another thought was that maybe he would be unable to process information as he used to, his brain damaged to the point of looking his superior intelligence.
I'm someone who dreams of being an author one day, and while I have killed off a number of characters, I usually have to decide who's going to die fairly early into the process, otherwise I just won't have the heart to do it. There was one character who I contemplated killing off, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it, so I paralyzed him instead. I may hesitate to kill some characters, but I've no qualms when it comes to maiming them.

The worst thing is that Saw never moves on. In addition to the events already mentioned, there was a similar question over whether to destroy the Jalindi relay completely or covertly infiltrate it and use the intel gained (Rebels S4E3). At least Cham Syndulla saw sense just in time!

The Bad Batch Season Two finale was good but subverted my expectations. Instead of the heroes winning, we see our characters experience failure, tragedy and separation. The Bad Batch is an underrated show that captures the grittier side of the Star Wars galaxy but which children can still watch. Hope Season 3 is in the works.
My kids and I have been binge-watching Star Wars animation over the past couple of months (their first time through). Recently finished Clone Wars and immediately jumped into Bad Batch. Our next episode last night happened to be the season 2 racing episode right after I had watched "Plan 99" earlier that day. "Faster" was kinda 'meh' for me the first time around but it hit totally different this time. Hearing the crowd chant "Tech! Tech! Tech!" in celebration at the end while now knowing the fate that awaits Tech in just a few episodes was such a bittersweet moment to rewatch. I'm sure the rest of the season will feel the same way.
The thing I always have in the back of my mind with Bad Batch is it will end sad. That’s all it can do. We know the Empire managed to build the Death Star & clone Palpatine. If the Bad Batch was a fully successful team, those aims could likely not have been accomplished.
Still was sad as hell.
Disney Star Wars script writers have been getting VERY good as of late. The Bad Batch is living up to the Clone Wars in my opinion.

I’ve never been one to get emotional from Star Wars, so I was surprised how emotional I was when Tech died. The fact that the sacrifice is done out of complete selflessness hits hard

When the Batch was introduced in Clone Wars, I didn't much care for them and never could've imagined how much seeing one of their death's would hit me. This show, man. I need season 3 ASAP.
One of the other imperials at the meeting was Rhomdi according to the end credits. The end credits also said Ben voiced Krennic, which is odd since he only had like 4-5 words. I wonder if it was archive audio, or if he’ll have a bigger role in Season 3
