Grinding Ear Corn out of the New Crib

- Back in the spring we saw the conversion of this bin for ear corn storage. I had a few loads left in wagons from last year to test the bin out before harvest this year. It works very well and I'm tickled to death about having ear corn storage beyond wagons. The shucky pile is refuse from making pretty bags of ear corn for retail.

Really neat to see the crib bin in action. When my grandfather milked cows we ground feed 3 days a week to keep up. Shoveled alot of ear corn to fill the grinder all week. Awesome video
When you first did the build on the bin I thought you were going to have issues unloading. I'm very impressed with how well your idea works. Good job sir 👍👍✌️
I am really impressed how you have made improvements to the farm.
Hello Jacob I allways enjoyed making chop. Have a taste now and then. We put molasses on it when feeding. Have a great day.
Glad to see you putting videos out again need you buddies bandit again ok
That is one heck of a cool setup Jacob, nice work
Finally saw the 400 in background at the end. Excited to see a video on it.
I was wondering what tractor that was.
It's already sold. Electric went flat dead as I was loading it for the buyer. Probably dodged a bullet sending it on.
All those cattle look really good, content and clean. Looking forward to more harvest videos from you soon hopefully?
Yep
Nice setup!
Happy Cows.
Looks like the old grain bin works good for you.
I bet you you get tons of compliments on your beef! That’s how really good beef is supposed to be raised! At prior Nebraska Tests, Holstein placed 2nd to Hereford in beef quality.
Nice video
Happy Thanksgiving
had a actual crib with conveyors in the bottom but they were much wider and we had slats on the exit end to pull out or put in to regulate flow coming out. We used a belt pully on a farmall 350 or 450 to run it and it would move a pile of corn fast we could grind feed much the same way and do about 180 bushel in a hour if everyone was there to shovel
Good video
I have been wondering if you had much corn to pick this year. Looks like it is working. Thanks for the videos. I enjoy them and watch every one.
cattel look good
Nice!
You got a good diverse group of calves nice Guernsey you had in there where you get that one
When the bin is full, will the transfer chute be able to move the packed ears of corn. I guess will they fall freely into the chute and be move out of the bin?
Sorry if this has all ready. Do you plan on completely covering the conveyor? If so how do you plan on removing the first conveyor cover and get the ears started to flow?

I take it you don’t miss the chucks…
Interesting
Curious where you got the conveyor system. i want to put a couple more wire cribs up and would like to adapt something like this into the cribs.
I mated two aluminum harvest handler elevators.
@@boehmfarm4276 I have thought about finding an old elevator for the job and just taking sections out. Also thought I might be able to make a 10 inch auger work especially if I can gear it down to turn slow but I don't think it would be very safe if I took a wrong step and got my foot in it.
What happened to the 3588 and the big ford tractor ?
👍👌♥️🇨🇦,
How much mouse crap and piss is mixed in with that corn and does it harm the cattle
Well, you gotta think that farmers used wire cribs. So theoretically I have a little less mouse and rat mess, but it must not hurt them. Maybe the mice are smart enough not to defecate in their food source.
.Makes for good eaten!
I take it you don’t miss the chucks…
