Hi there,
My name is Niamh (pronounced neeve) and I have a BSc in Nursing Science. I make videos on simple, natural, healthy living.
Enquiries: info@fairylandcottage.com
#selfcare #slowliving
Since March i haven't been hugged or touched. Im 72 and in the high risk group, so my family has communicated with me over Skype and zoom. I live by myself with my cat. But this morning I just wanted to be touched....so I took a long warm shower and imagined each drop a touch from the Universe...and it was wonderful.....thank you for this video.....love to you from Bloomfield New Jersey, USA.
Kindcounselor....sending you kind thoughts. Hang in there. We will get through this. Greetings from PA.
Sending you a huge virtual hug from the UK 🤗
Sending you a big smile and a warm hug from Greece :)
I haven’t had physical contact with anyone since March 14th. I too am in the high risk category so apart from going for a walk each day I keep my own company. It’s much more difficult than I ever realised. Sending you a virtual hug from England 🤗🏴
Thank you for your loving thoughts.
My first holiday season without my beloved partner who passed away in July after 3 years of intense chemo and many scary hospital emergencies. There are so many traditions and joys we shared but it seemed too sad to do them by myself and that scared me that I wasn’t going to be able to get through these holidays...but, honoring a real desire to take better care of myself after so many years devoted to my husband’s care, I am re-inventing the holidays for myself, scaling them back, paring them down, keeping them simple and it feels soooo good to not be clinging to the past but to be creating a new way to be, alone, by myself, in lock-down, a cozy fire and a simple string of lights woven into a basket of gleaned foliage and berries. Thank you for your sweet reminders to “keep it simple” and nourish our own souls.
I’m so sorry for your loss Kaitlin, I must say you are truly inspiring the love you have your partner and yourself. Keeping it simple and honouring the present day and looking after yourself.
You also have a beautiful way of writing so maybe explore that more...
God bless you during this time.
You are a brave and wise woman
I’m so sorry for your loss. Your comments captured my eyes whilst scrolling and listening to this. I hope you continue to find peace and happiness in your soul. Sending good vibes across the internet & world 🌍 from Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺❤️❤️
Whenever I am around animals, they satisfy a part of my soul no human can. I always slow down and listen to their wisdom and am humbled and nourished.
So so true I find that too. They take us straight out of our mind into our heart.
Diana Fairbrother I feel the same way. Animals are special. They are truth. ❤️
Animals love unconditionally. They give out so much and expect nothing back.
Your post really touched my heart. As I was listening to this video I was also petting my cat. Animals have always been my best friends and my biggest source comfort through life.
Adorables momentos.
Watching fairyland cottage vlogs is in my self-care list❤
Awh ☺️ thanks for watching ❤️
Same omd
same!
Same for me! Watching Fairyland Cottage, going for a walk in nature and listening to my favorite music.💙❄️💙
Same here 🤗
“Not being a half of someone but a whole self” the message came just in time. 🦋
I came here to write the same in the same exact words!❤️
Amen.
It's true, November, December and especially the time between Christmas and Epiphany is the season of selfcare and internal work. It's an old German tradition to focus on the mental well-being and spirituality during this time 💚✨
Have a wonderful selfcare day you all ☺️
Ah really? How interesting! Thanks for sharing the German tradition. 🍀💚❄️
So true, l had the privilege to live in Germany a while ago, and it was totally amazing! 😊
The people were so lovely, and very friendly. And they took pride in keeping everything clean, and in its place.
Christmas as you said, was a special time for family, and friends.
A time when memories become more vivid, and a desire, to want to nurture those you love more.🤔
I miss Germany, and the atmosphere of the Christmas season.
Stay safe, and may you, and your family feel the happiness of this time of year.♥🌹🎄
Moira
From England. 🤗
@@FairylandCottage yes ☺️ the time between Christmas and Epiphany is called "Rauhnächte". It's a very special time in which you meditate a lot and prepare yourself for the new year with some other special traditions ☺️ I'm going to do a collaboration about that together with my TH-camr friend 'The Witches Cookery'. Our videos will come out on December 30, so you're invited to watch, in case you're interested ☺️
@@contact3604 Thank you 🥰 have a wonderful Christmas time, Moira 💚
@@theartofnaturegermany sounds wonderful! I’d love to watch! 🥰🥰🥰
I watched this video 3 times. This is the message I needed to hear today. I am in a very difficult situation, being stuck in a fundamentalist cult (Jehovah’s Witnesses) where all of my freedoms and free will have been stolen from me. If I leave I will be shunned by family and friends still in the cult. Being my own best friend, self care, showing love to all, no matter how they chose to live their lives, and helping others in the community is how I truly want to live. My situation is very difficult but now I realize I can make changes to live the way I want to live, without any expectations of others. Thank you for this beautiful message. ❤️
OMG, Ina, that sounds so bad. Run as fast as you can at the first opportunity! If your family shuns you so be it. What help can they be if they only accept you when your free will and your spirits are broken? Sending you blesssings.
I’m sorry about your situation, there is a TH-cam channel called Telltale, that I think would be a good resource for you.
There are quite a few people there who have left cultish environments and made a life for themselves.
Hopefully you can find a community to help you during this hard time. Much love and best of luck. 🙂
Hello Ina, so sorry to read your expression of feeling suppressed. Your dedication is with Jehovah God, your freedom also comes from him. You don’t have to leave the organization to get free will. You already have it. Take a stand for yourself and do what you want. Like you did when you clicked and watch this video.
And you know how I know cause I am one myself. Maybe take in inventory that you may not be surrounded by positivity. And maybe you are fun, positive and really shine a different happy energy and they are trying to rob you from that. That’s not Jehovah God. That’s people! Be well my sister and be happy and Live for his son Jesus came to set you free!
At the end whats important is what the father almighty thinks of you. Loving gid is not being trapped in relugion. Sometimes that means freeing yourself. The truth will set you free. Your relationship with god is individual. God bless
God will show you, thru videos like this, and other people, messages of healing yourself...be brave and have faith the true God never asks of us more than we can bear...may the true God, not the religion Bless you!!:)
“The more I’m connected with myself, the easier it is for me to see what I need.” This is spot on! ❤️
I already lead a very quiet life, but working in my garden is my number one thing to connect me to a place of tranquility.
I also read a lot, and I've said it many times over, but avoiding social media (namely Facebook) is probably one of the best things you can do for self preservation, calmness of mind and inner peace.
Finding joy in simple things: my cats, harvesting fresh veg from the garden, a warm Summer sunset and always, always, being grateful and thankful for what I have in my life.
(Those biscuits looked delicious - I wouldn't be opposed to some seasonal baking vids from you 😉)
I seem to be in a Thomas Hardy mood this afternoon. Here´s another one that fits the spirit of this video "The meaning of faith is not to live in the heavens but to settle heaven in your heart".
Very nice
Thank you so much for the video and the Thomas Hardy quote.
It's amazing how often your topic exactly resonates with a struggle I've been having that exact week. I decided to learn to knit, to keep my brain active and give me something to do. I have suffered from S.A.D.s for over 20 years so I had a feeling that 2020 could be worse than most, so decided to try and help myself as much as possible. I've been taking vitamin D, trying to get out more, as safely as possible, and decided I needed a new challenge. I learned to crochet 8 years ago when my first granddaughter was expected and thoroughly enjoyed it. So, knitting..... I've managed the basics, knit, purl, ordered some circular needles as I seem to struggle with the long ones, probably because I'm used to crochet hooks, I still go from right to left but the actual hook length is easier. I've learned to do a very basic cable this week (week 2 of my knitting journey) and have started a scarf for my aforementioned granddaughter, plus one for her younger sister. I'm finding that it is a lot slower than crochet and I have to concentrate more. I was feeling guilty about the amount of time I'm spending on it, I have to fully concentrate when I knit whereas crochet is more mindless, my hands know what they're doing so I don't have to concentrate as much. I felt I was neglecting other things for knitting. You've made me rethink this.
What I'm basically saying in my long winded way is thankyou for helping me realise that I can give myself permission to focus on knitting as it helps my mental health and makes me feel good that I'm mastering a new skill. My goal throughout this process Niamh is to be able to make myself a beautiful aran cabled cardigan like the one you wear in your videos. That was my original inspiration in the whole knitting saga. Sorry to waffle but that's how I express myself, why use 20 words when you can waffle for 200 😏 Many Blessings to you xXx
I was a really rubbish knitter when I started but I have improved with practice and the meditative state I enter when I knit or paint or make music is very precious to me.
I’m so glad you’ve picked up knitting! I taught myself to knit something like 8 years ago. It certainly can be difficult and frustrating and first but it’s very meditative, relaxing, and enjoyable after some time. Your skills will expand and you will get used to the feeling of the needles. Seeing your project grow and hearing the click of the needles gives me such immense satisfaction. I’m working on an aran cabled cardigan right now!
I love waffling. Best pastime ever :-)
Good on you for allowing yourself to be. I’d love to see the sweater when it’s finished. Maybe you can email me when you’re done. Happy knitting my friend xxx
The last couple days I have really felt the onset of winter and knowing the winter solstice is only around the corner gives me hope of the sun returning with longer days to follow. Seems more symbolic this year than previously. This will also be the first year I don’t celebrate Christmas, fully embracing my pagan roots. It feels like a form of self care all on it’s on. The burden lifted of trying to please others for something they believe in and I don’t.
I really resonate with this. I too have started celebrating my pagan roots more than ever this year and cannot wait for winter solstice and Yule. I connect more deeply with the meanings behind them and realized this year that my celebrations going forward need to be nature based vs. human based. They cannot be canceled and are everlasting & constant, regardless of what else is going on in the world. I have also become much more aligned with the lunar cycles and now celebrate both new moon and full moons each month. This way of celebrating has brought me so much more happiness and peace 🙏🏼🕯❤️✨
Well done for honouring your true self!
I just started watching your videos today to get some inspiration for Christmas Decour from my forest. Your videos are so calming and beautiful. I live in Ontario Canada and just started making my own hand crafted soaps a year ago. It has brought me so much joy to make something from scratch and that people can take home and enjoy themselves. I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. And the way you speak is like a story. It’s just beautiful. I noticed you said you’re not the biggest artist withdrawing but you have beautiful stories to tell and your videos are just very peaceful. Thank you for what you do❤️
Thank you for this video. I would say writing some sort of gratitude list when I feel like I forget how lucky and happy I am. Living in this world makes you often only see what other have and feel the need to have it yourself. At least I feel like that often. But I try to write down my own story to myself - where I came from and where I landed. How Ivied 5 years ago and now. How much more fulfilling my life is vs how much I wanted to find my path but couldn't. It does incredible. Also I tend to be too busy or lazy to make food let alone bake something so as self care I make something incredible to eat and I do it slowly with good music. If I take a long nature walk that day I am exhausted b the end of the day and I feel incredible :) it's not much but I find it incredibly necessary
I have cancer and treatment makes me very sleepy, I live in Texas in the US and it doesn’t really get cold down here so we run our air conditioners pretty much year round. What I have loved best right now, since it is a wee bit cooler, is having my weighted blanket out. I’ll put on the A/C and snuggle under my weighted blanket when I sleep. It’s counter productive and some may say wasteful of the energy needed to run the A/C but it makes me happy, it keeps me comfortable and helps keep my feet (which are always freezing) nice and warm. I also have a weighted sleep mask, I don’t use it often but I’m going to use it today when I take my nap here shortly for an extra bit of coziness.
I have always seen those weighted blankets! They must be good... keep looking after yourself. You’re the one who knows what you need. No need to ever justify your choices.
A soo peaceful and exactly what is needed at this time of year, a hot drink, something sweet and warmth....perfect! Yes we all feel a dip at this time of year and should honor this time to rest and restore as best we can! Blessings and peace to you.
You mentioned focussing on what you can control, and this is crucial for my self-care routine, especially this year. I’ve given up following the news, as it is so disheartening, and it makes me feel helpless. Instead I do what I can do in my own life to make the world a better place and then let the rest go. Listening to your calm voice is also part of my self-care! Thank you!
Sounds great Jenny. You sound healthy and strong. Well done for giving yourself such gifts. ❤️
Feeling the same. Hugs to you.
Feel the same too. Warm hugs to you
Imagine a snowy night in which you bake those fascinating cookies, then you sit together with your dears and darlings and having them with a hot mug of coffee, then relax and enjoy your time. Hope every one will have such a nice winter and Christmas coming. Thank you very much fairyland cottage 🌷🎄🤶☃️🎁🎉🎅🌲🙏
Your messages throughout this video really resonate with me. ❤️
I’m glad Patricia to hear that. Your videos are beautiful. Can’t remember if I mentioned before cause I had a look. So peaceful and full of wisdom. ❤️
Oh I'm so glad you had a look on my videos and found them beautiful - I truly appreciate your kind compliment. Thank you :)
Blessings sister, we are connected in so many ways, i love your temperance, its soothing and calm.
Im coming into summer so there is preparation even tho fruit is in abundance here, blackberries watermelons and mangoes, cherries, all those hydrating fruits help hydrate and cleanse, its a beautiful season but the heat knocks me around so we tend to swim at the beach. Im going go teach my husband to surf so im looking forward to it...
I find fruit isnt heavy, i dont wake up stiff or cranky.. and my energy levels are great for sun surf and play...
i dont do xmas no more, i give when i want to, not when society tells me plus im an ex white solitary witch, i do not practice it no more, i loved it but i feel more closer talking to jesus now, i get more from prayer than spells.. i have respect for those that walk that way as i respect muslims. We are all one family in the end..
Have a blessed week and stay safe..
From Australia 🍇🍉😎🍀
So true. We are al one big family. No way to separate any of us. Each walking their own path back home 🌟🍂✨🙏
The peacefulness of this video drew me in and allowed me to stop and think about what self care means in this upside down world. Thank you.
Part of my self care is watching your beautiful and relaxing vlogs! My mind slips away to the time I spent in Ireland 2 years ago, and wishing I could return soon. Your videos are beautiful and inspiring, and draw me towards living a more simple life. Truly a gift. ❤️☘️
Dear Niamh, this talk was so profoundly helpful that brought tears to my eyes.thank you for your gentle voice and thoughts! As a self employed artist I feel so much pressure most times, to ...maybe get recognised, that I loose theblove and mostly the rhythm of my creating. I forget that creativity can’t be forced. You remind me so much of how life is something more valuable and to be respected, that human pressure for making a living. A big hello to all the nature around you, I lived in donegal for 8 months and love Ireland deeply!
Yes we have to forgive ourselves everyday. We are always doing the best we can do. What type of art do you do?
@@FairylandCottage I do illustration for children!
One of the ways I'm caring for myself during this season is to actually allow myself to rest and do nothing without telling myself that instead I should be doing something to, essentially, prove my worth.
I'm learning how to speak more kindly to myself and I'm practicing sending myself love whenever I feel like doing just the opposite. I know that's when I need it most.
Much love and warmth to everyone in this community ❤
And thank you Niamh for making this peaceful and centering video.
So so true Lucinda. It’s when we are being hard on ourselves that we need to talk kindly to ourselves even more.
Niamh, your videos are so beautiful and serene. Not just the visuals ( which are always so lovely ) but also your soothing voice and wise, thoughtful words. Thank you for making these videos, these little moments for us to escape into. You are blessed to live in such gorgeous surroundings! Ireland is so beautiful and so magical. I've been to Ireland three times and every time I have to leave I am so sad. So until I can be there again, I find comfort and joy by watching your beautiful videos. Love and gratitude from New Jersey, USA. 🍀
Ah you have a piece of your heart in Ireland for sure! Come back soon 🍀🍀🍀
I recently discovered that if I skip ads I skip a simple way to support you and my other TH-cam favourite channels, so please know I no longer skip ads! This video’s message is so important as we round almost nine months of quarantine. For those of us essentially trapped in toxic environments finding a way to separate and recharge alone is so important. It may seem an odd thing to say when the majority of the world is done with isolation but if you aren’t isolating alone, you can start to feel suffocated... I am not sure if I am expressing this well. Thankfully your video is expressed beautifully and reminds us to take a moment and breath. To regroup our thoughts and focus on ourselves. To refill our energy pitcher 🤗🙏🏽
Awh thanks for not skipping ads, that’s such a help. I think I get paid when people actually click on the adverts! It’s pennies but they ad up. I’m so grateful for your support.
You, Jonna Jinton and Liziqi are by far the best on TH-cam for me. I really rest and relax just by watching you. It is like a little piece of a real fairyland. Your content makes me happy and I can see that there is still a hope for mankind.
I sub to them as well. You might also like cottage fairy.
Ah that is so very kind of you to place me along side those two wonderful creators.
Living in Canada we also are experiencing colder and shorter days...which I find very welcoming...it's natures way to remind me to slow down. I find I sleep better when the nights are cooler, the sunrise is at 7 ish not 5:30, and the mornings seem much more relaxed, the smell of coffee fills the house and my cats find little slivers of sunlight on the floor to nap on. I find I'm baking much more and always have something simmering on low on the stove for dinner...my evening start early as sunset is around 4:45 these days, and my solar fairy light begin twinkling and come to life just as I am headed for the nights bubble bath ....evening tea and a sweet curled up in warm fuzzy jammies amongst the fairy lights with lounging content cats around me is usually how my days come to an end....thank you for sharing your time and home with us.
Sounds ideal. You could write a book the way you explain gives off beautiful images
@@FairylandCottage funny I feel the same way when I watch your videos...you come across so relaxed and calming with such warm cinematography....it's just what the soul requires these days.
"Sometimes we need to displease another, in order to please ourselves" Thank you for sharing this, and for this lovely video! i hope you have a wonderful week. Hugs from Saskatchewan, Canada
So much wisdom in this week’s video! One of my favorites so far! 🙏 My favorite way of looking after myself is meditating. It is so calming and grounding in itself and also helps me come in tune with all my other needs. I’ve noticed that the less I feel like meditating, the more I am likely to benefit from it! Thank you for your lovely channel! I’m already looking forward to next week’s video! Love from Sweden 💕
Ah thanks so much! So true about meditating! 💕✨❄️
I've learned to live life for my own enjoyment and acceptance not others. So many people live in lack consciousness and don't love themselves and so become codependent nooses around our neck. It's not our responsibility to love or fill them, that's their responsibility. This morning I woke up and I was thinking about how grateful I am that I am single because I can do whatever I want without compromise and that is something I never allowed myself to do while trying to help and be something for everyone around me. I love feeling my own vibration. It helps me love myself more fully. It helps me to connect to the things that I love to do and experience without being muddied by another person's energy. That just feels like freedom. ♥️
Well done you! A daily celebration of self love and freedom. ✨🎉🪄
To be honest im not doing that great having lost my mum in lockdown but watching your videos religiously they help me enormously to stop beating myself up nature is helping me to heal my broken heart something about your persona and gentle voice and caring outlook on life helps me to take a little care of myself my mother always would say to me that I was to take care of myself so i must try rip mum always in my heart💞🙏💗
Ah sweetheart you are honouring your mother so nicely by looking after yourself. She sees you always and loves you. Keep being kind to yourself always and be gentle. Nature helps immensely. Sending you love and hugs from Ireland.

Are you reading in my mind? Thank you and to everyone in this community.
I absolutely love your videos Niamh, I find they inspire me to slow down and live a more simple, sustainable life. Thank you for creating this content, I think a lot of people can learn from your way of living. 🍂
Thanks Katie 💕🍂
Yes, this year has been the one where I learned to be less of a people-pleaser and to honor my authentic-self. I'm not going to be shameful of what I enjoy (food, tv, activities). It has been in watching others be the truest version of themselves that I am learning to do that for myself. Beautiful video my friend!
Ah wonderful Diane. I received your beautiful card yesterday. How lovely. Thank you as always! Have a wonderful week 💚💚💚
This video resonates so much with what I'm dealing with in my life right now. I'm going through a divorce because my ex couldn't stop setting expectations for me and vice versa. I began letting go of expectations and they continued to hold onto the expectations they set for me. I ended up having to let them go because of this. It's hard but I know that I'm in a better place now. 😌
Good to hear you are in a better place now.
Self care for me involves a little meditation, a walk, some quiet time alone to read and rest , watching a very old movie on a quiet afternoon...and of course watching and re-watching your beautiful and inspiring videos. The scenery in this video made me catch my breath and whisper " Oh how beautiful" as I watched and your message gave me hope that the longings I feel to "just be myself" were not so unattainable. I wondered though as I watched what exactly you were doing with the lovely leaves you were dipping in the clear liquid. That might be a bit of a stupid question but my curiosity got the best of me and I had to ask. Have a wonderfully peaceful, warm and cozy week ahead. I am going to re-watch this video again and as always look forward to the video to come next week.
I like to dip the leaves into candle wax because it preserves them forever. I then use for cards or decoration. Nice eh. Xxx
I have 2 toddlers and it’s often very loud and crazy in my home. I’m happy to let my kids be kids but I find these videos recharge my soul and give me permission to seek peacefulness! Thank you!
Thank you for a beautiful start to my day! I am looking forward to a week of camping with my husband and dogs - a time for beach walks, sleeping, reading, painting and just getting away from the ‘to do’ lists at home.
I love camping! Have the most wonderful week!
Thank you. This was a much needed reminder that no one else can know what is right for me. Especially during the pandemic. People have been pressuring me to go out with them or go on dates and they are not correctly social distancing and have jobs in which they interact with the public and they aren’t careful.
Slow living was always how it was meant to be. Thanks for spreading the calming message in a troubled world.
I watched Alot 0f Utube Videos & there was a Cottage one From a Lady that had a pet Bunny in her home & She Petted it to sleep. I Can't find it Again! I am Happy & Whole. Grateful, Blessed & I luv 2 Cook & Garden with Mindfulness ! Im in Mi. Cold Still!! Beautiful Irish accent 💜✌🏿
I try to live as simple as possible. I don't care what others might think and don't allow anyone to affect me mentally. Being a constant people pleaser so that I won't be left behind alone for so long made me realize how much it is needed to listen to your own heart and focus on only what's best for your mental health. To my good spirit and happy mind, I try new recipe in my kitchen or read a book and that instantly uplifts me. I drink great varieties of tea to relax myself.
Well done you!!
In addition to the key points that you have mentioned in this video, I find that being proactive when it comes to maintaining our physical health is so important. I think if I take steps to actively maintain or improve my levels of physical activity, nutritious eating, sleep patterns, skin condition, etc. before any problems arise then I feel good and I dedicate more time and energy to self-care practices that I know are working for me. It’s better and easier to be proactive than to wait until there is a problem and then have to be reactive. This was a beautiful video... it was a great way to start my day. Thank-you 💚🕯🌲💦
So so true. Better to be proactive and stay healthy rather that reactive when ill.
I'm also feeling the call to rest more, go to bed earlier, and I sleep a little later, too (when my children allow). Not to mention the soup making! I find it comforting to think that I'm following rhythms that my ancestors followed during the dark time of the year.
Winter is my most Favorite season of all n this year just trying to be more aware of the things about what my mind, body n soul wants n I agree with you wen you said that sometimes we should just honor ourselves no tv no phone etc just be with yourself . For the past few weeks trying to stay away from phone n social media stuff n realising that Life is really beautiful .
I agree that we should become our best friend and treat ourself with gentleness and respectfulness.🎋🌿💐❤️ We are all good to be ourselves!
Being my best friend - this is something I need to learn.
Thank you!
Every morning with my cup of tea ,I watch a couple of your vlogs to give myself a calmer and a slower start to the day ...Learning lot of self care methods and trying to imbibe them in my daily life.. Thankyou 🙏
Thank you for this . I needed to hear that about being your own best friend and kind to yourself. Also pleasing others. I've disappointed myself for far too long. The older I get I'm realizing what is truly important.
I’ve been loving warm coconut milk with rose, lavender, cinnamon and cardamom before bed! It soothes my nerves and smells so incredible🌹
Sounds divine ❤️
@prarthana Chandra what's your measurements for this recipie? Would love to try
This wk I have been learning about the Scandinavian idea of hygga. As I listened to you and watched your day I realized that you are living the hygga life the Irish way. It is such a nice reminder tonight to keep my week simple. especially after such a tiring and hectic day. This reminder made me think of the forest gathering, for Christmas decor, I have been waiting to do. This has been put on hold till I was able to find my winter boots. Now that they have been located I am looking forward to getting what I need tomorrow. Thank you again.:)
Oh I hope you have fun foraging for greenery!
Art is one way I relax and it brings me joy. Today was a hard day for energy for me, but I did get to finish a craft project and it turned out beautifully.
I love watching your videos. It is a time for me. I also LOVE going to the beach in the fall after all the tourists have gone home. I will spend hours searching for beach glass. There is something very therapeutic about hunting for glass. While I am at the beach the sound of water over rocks is the most calming healing sound for my soul. Thank you for sharing your lovely calming videos. 🙏
So healing searching for sea glass...
Thank you thank you thank you to each and every one in this community who has taken the time to give encouraging words, inspired by this lovely lady. You are much appreciated.
Spending time in nature gives me peace in my heart and mind
I've found that meditating just for 10 minutes a day really helps to calm my mind and spirit. Preparing and cooking nourishing food improves my well-being and gives me peace that I'm taking care of my family. Getting out in nature is crucial and I'm so very lucky to live close to a nature reserve, it's gorgeous this time of year and provides an abundance of natural things to improve my home!
"Nobody else can tell us how we should be living, what we need, we're the ones that know that" This is so important to hear around this time of year, especially for those of us who have family who like to tell us how we should be living our lives. Thankyou for the reminder!
Choose joy. Look to those you can help.
It is so very satisfying.
Thank you for another beautiful video. I find that what I move in, move out and organize, helps me to be meditative in a way for what I move in and move out of my life. As the seasons change so do we. I have been minimizing my home in a way that is saying to myself its time to minimize excess and bring in what priorities truly matter. Happy Holidays!
Thank you for sharing, I've watched in the past, this is the first time I'm corresponding. I do a lot of reading, taking walks, turn the electronics off to enjoy the quiet and be creative. I live on the Navajo reservation (USA) where there are very few trees and greenery, it snows very little here too. I enjoy your homeland's beauty.
Ah thanks my dear. You are wise indeed reading and walks are best way to be in this noisy world
Your video has been a real comfort to me at 5 am on a snowy day here in France ,not being able to sleep and feeling somewhat overwhelmed by thoughts of not seeming to be able to just enjoy the things around me and people who care . Letting go of control after years of fighting for it , just to survive , it’s tough your video calmed me and made me feel calmer , tha sad for showing me what is possible 💘
Letting go of control can be the hardest thing ever! I have to remind myself multiple times a day!
Me being Catholic we take care of ourselves so we can better serve our loved ones. We shouldn’t be people pleasers just to get people to like us, but we serve them because we know Christ is in them and never expect anything in return. We have a sacrificial religion, so there are times where we have to give up a little self care in order to make sure we take care of our children or neighbor when in dire need. Our goal is to be totally identified in Christ and sacrificial just like him so that we may inherit eternal life and live in total bliss and freedom forever 🙏🏼🌹❤️🕊
What wonderful words you share Maritza! You are a true blessing in this world. ❤️🙏
Feel self care is important every
day. However, more so in winter.
Especially when temperatures drop
to below 5C, as they are now doing
here in Switzerland. But once snow
falls, it is delightful to get up to the
mountainous regions and appreciate
the beauty of winter. Enjoy you week, live slowly, minimally and
being grateful for what we have in
life.
First snow here in Switzerland and I m ready for a Sunday walk. So good to have this video as long as I m getting ready. Please do more like this , it was lovely 🥰
Ah have a lovely fresh walk in the snow. How special ❄️🍂
Your videos always calm me...I look forward to it every week. Very soothing especially now when I am struggling emotionally.
I discovered your video (porridge one) last winter, and then lost track of your channel. I literally went through twelve months of my youtube history to find it again. I am so glad that I did! Thank you for the lovely video and needed reminders to SLOW down! Thank you from across the pond. Love the long sweater (I have a shorter one my mom gifted me from when she was in Ireland...but that length would be amazing - any local artisans you could share one day in a video would be welcome by many to be sure).
Ah thanks for your determination to find the channel again! Aran jumpers and cardigans are the best!
I love this segment. Knowing.....I am enough. I dont have to feel guilty or over balance to please others. That does not bring happiness to one's soul. Living a life of unbalance destroys one's self. Most of the time we dont realize this until we are much older.
So true. Some people learn it when it’s too late. So we are lucky to see
Just subscribed to your channel. I find it quietly inspiring, just what I need in this world being overrun with chaos here in the US. Ireland has always called to my spirit so I hope you'll be sharing glimpses of your life and your country.
Madam, .....you just fed me with mental, as well as visual, pure, nutrition....! So much, that I will have to think about, what I would want to share at this very moment. I heard you say "small steps" several times since I started watching your videos. That gives comfort too! Thank you!
I start to have the mind set to ..... pretending there is no time. In that way i take my time to come to myself. I love that feeling 🥰. Wonderful video .💜
Much needed advise in the crazy world we live in. Take time to recharge so you can be good for yourself as well as to help others.
Blessings to all.
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to
this wisely worded message in
this video Naimh. Ballenberg
is an outdoor museum near Brienz,
in Switzerland, which is about
halfway between Lucerne and
Interlaken Ost (East). There one
can view old Swiss homesteads
and farm buildings from ages
back. Traditional farm animals
are kept here and one can also
partake in many traditional crafts
such as weaving, basket making,
iron work, bread making, straw hats
and baskets and so many other
handicrafts from our days past.
This outdoor museum covers a
fairly large area and like all places
in Switzerland, can be easily reached
by train and Swiss Post Bus services. Have been there a few
times, coming away and always
having learnt and discovered new
ways and about older handicrafts. Ballenberg.com. Wishing you
all the best for 2021 and kindest
greetings from Zurich.
These videos are a big part of my self-care, not gonna lie.
Warm loving hugs from Vermont, we are in lockdown due to what we do , caring for a man in our home. It's especially hard this year as I'm very unwell and its hard to just do small things. I love to come and hear your soft voice and seeing all the things you are making and doing, thank you so much!
Hey, can I just say, I have quite severe depression, and I'm currently off my medication, not by choice, and I want to say, you're videos, though I only found your channel a few days ago, fit entirely with how I want to live, and have wanted to for a long time, your videos are a great source of comfort for me, and you are helping me through this difficult time without even knowing you are, and I'm so sure you do the same for many others,
Keep creating, keep living slowly, and I genuinely thank you so much!
Ah I’m delighted you found the channel. Nothing happens by coincidence! Your heart is calling you to live simple and I’m so glad to have similar people here to share this life.
This video was inspired by BKShivani and Dr William Glasser (choice theory)
Two people who have changed my life to enable me to live simply.
Thank you for the lovely video. I enjoy golden milk also, especially in the winter. I have been craving simplicity for awhile and am working toward a simpler life. My definition of a simple life at least. I’m trying to take things easy and not beat myself up over silly little things. It’s hard to change a lifetime of habits. It’s so easy to do what you have always done without thinking. Stopping before I act and speak is challenging for me. Not automatically reacting but stopping to consider if what I’m doing or saying is really what I want to put out into the world. Have a peaceful week and thank you for sharing your ideas.
I've been following you for a year and a half already. Glad to see that your community has grown so fast! ;) Your videos are really useful and very relaxing! Love from Ukraine :)
Ah thanks for following for so long! Love from Ireland to you in Ukraine
I have afternoon tea. I sit and relax with a nice teacup. I just close my eyes and enjoy. Your videos are so calming. I look forward to each one.
Hi there ! Thank you to star your gorgeous local landscape 🙏😊
I live nearby the forest also, i have round some houx with red books, i am starting christmas décoration, i love it.
The harder part of ir thèse days is to get sometimes Aline. I mean really Aline, the house just for myself. With the crurent criais we are working from home and si i can t wait to be ALONE for a day. Although i love people i really need this .
this is a nice reminder for me to schedule quiet and alone time for myself at least once a week. and oh how nice it'd be to have a cozy place like yours, it'd be so relaxing to have self care time in a place like that!
That’s a lovely idea
Your videos bring me so much joy and peace Niamh they have been such a godsend this year x
I love to hear that Sarah. Xxx
A very timely message - not just for this (difficult) year - but for anytime in your life. Tuning out the noise and centering yourself is crucial to well-being. I'm still learning how.
Whenever I have a stressful day I come here. Helps with the stress and anxiety and calms my scattered brain.
Thank you for your gifts of all the beautiful videos. I searched for some balm for my frasseld mind that was so deep into thoughts about how other should change. It was nice to get this gentle reminder to look after myself and focusing on being the example instead of nagging on others. And a happy, calm mind and body can also communicate so much better, both through action and speach. Thank you!
I've never been much of a self care person, I guess I always put my husband, kids, pets and job first. Your viseos are beautiful and help me to realize that it is so necessary to care for one's self, and listed to ones self. Thank you for the beautiful video and message!
As a mother, all children now grown I can relate tremendously to this. When a defining moment happened I chose to be on that journey of self care. Sending encouragement that you are embracing this each and every day. Blessings
@@joanne3059 thank you so much!!
That view of the ocean is just gorgeous!!
I became emotional while watching this video, I’m not exactly sure why. Listening to what you said about not worrying about what people think about you, it resonates with how I feel day to day. I began my journey into veganism this past March. I suddenly have been bombarded with questions, advice and judgment for friends and family. I thought I was okay until watching your video today. I don’t regret my decision of being vegan, I simply wished I did it sooner. You give me great comfort listening to your words and watching your beautiful videos. My goal is to perfect my videos and edit skills as great as yours. Thank you again ❤️
Well done for sticking out the veganism I struggle with this lifestyle
Thank you I appreciate your warm words ❤️
Ah well done you for making the decision and sticking to it. Other people can find it hard when we change as it can make them focus on what they are ‘not’ doing, so it is easier for them to question and criticise rather than encourage and congratulate.
You keep doing the caring habits on yourself and sharing your art with the world. Others will understand or they won’t. 🌟🌟🌟
Thank you, I really appreciate it❤️
I just got a recipe for a steamed paleo low carb British pudding that I can't wait to try. Also got a recipe for low carb bread pudding. As a diabetic from halloween to spring time the holidays for the past 5 yrs have been seriously depressing due to that I can't eat all my favorite comfort foods. No potatoes, no rice, no stuffing etc. messed up my bloodsugar badly. Also re-reading old favorite book series help me through the winter time. and watching historical documentaries that are my favs is nice too.
thanks again for helping me get centered and much needed self care. Took a nice long walk with my son, Sage, along the coast on the high bluff. A clear, sunny day and a long walk was just what I needed. The panoramic views of the Olympic and north Cascade mts. were spectacular.
Beautiful name for your son
@@FairylandCottage Yes,my son is my teacher, a wise sage, that has guided me to a very different perspective about life, and what choices we make. Sage is 29 years old, autistic, non verbal, with also several birth defects, that have altered his abilities in functioning in the standard world. He lives with me half the week and with his Mom the remaining. This schedule started since he was born, so each of us parents could work part time to have an income. Sage is the most natural intuitive person I have ever met and has taught me to listen to my inner voice and follow my instincts. As a teacher, you understand the special abilities of children to teach us so much about life. Sage would connect with and your sensitive nature immediately. take care, Mark
I love all your sweaters!!!! I usted to kneat a lot. Next week I will start again. You have inspired me to go back to one of my favorite hobbies. Thank you so much!!!
As always, a cosy video. Thanks ! At this season, I also love slowing down. I cook, start a fire and read. Enjoying this time before Christmas and all the energy and work on myself that require the end of the year. Some time just for me.
Your videos are always so calming and inspiring. They never fail to make me choose gratitude, simplicity and peacefulness. Thank you so very much!
I feel peace watching your videos. So much needed in these times. Thank you so much for being a instrument of light & peace. 🙏💙
#pickuplimes recipies are perfect for feeding yourself with good things. Its been a tough year and we deserve to be gentle with ourselves.
Love Sadia 🙂
@@jmk1962 and a Canadian!!!
It's not selfish to take care of yourself first. You're no good to anyone else if you don't take care of yourself. I paid good money to learn that years ago in counseling. 💜
Money well spent 🤍
“How can we be there for others when we can’t be there for ourselves?”
The answer may be a change of perspective from yourself to others. Focus on loving each other. Treating others as we do ourselves. Being kind, patient, loving, forgiving to others. Being quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger. Overlooking offenses and not taking them personally. Sharing what we have with others even if it’s a walk in the woods and a cup of golden tea. Any time we spend loving others is time well spent. Giving feeds our souls and those around us with a depth of joy much deeper and richer than the pursuit of self promises.
So true. Treating others as we do ourselves. So we have to treat ourselves well in order to do that.
Thank you for this lovely video ❤. I resonate with you, here in northern Iceland the days are dark and cold now and then it is so nice to have a hot drink by candlelight ☕🔥
Hi Niamh. I always repeat to my self " Keep it simple" and it works. Thank you 👏👏
Ah brilliant!! 💚
When it's been a rough day ...your videos really make me calm and get me to a state of acceptance and peace....🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻
Thank you for all your wonderful videos !!
Loads of love from India 🇮🇳💓
