Welcome back… I’m so thrilled to have a little update from you. I couldn’t help but notice the importance ot ‘connection’ throughout this video. Connection, of course, with your little one and your family, but also with your support network, the natural world, your routines, and with yourself. This video is a lovely re-connection with us out here in Viewer Land. It reminds me to value the connections I have in my life and to take the time to soak them up. I’ve just started year number 36 in the classroom, and while I love teaching, I’m at the point in my life where I need to think of what comes next. This is my 54th consecutive year in the school system, on one side of the desk or the other, and I am not really sure what I will be doing next September. One thing I do know, whatever I am doing, it will be focused on connection. Currently our garden and green house are bountiful but slowing down, there is still lots of harvesting and preserving to do. I am loving my wild swimming time at the lake although it has been reduced to weekends only now that school is back in session. I’m also loving the warm sun drenched evenings when I can read or enjoy my skill toys (yoyo and kendama - a Japanese wooden skill toy) outside. This will not last for much longer… I’m soaking it up while I can. The rain and cooler days are soon to arrive. Thank-you for this wonderful reunion and for sharing your four seasons with us here once again. 💦🌎Ⓜary🇨🇦💕

Wow Mary, I taught for 26 years and although I loved it, I never miss the homework. In saying that though, I’ve created a channel and it’s not lost on me that at times I’m once again up late at night trying to stick to a ‘due date’ or posting deadline. And I can’t help but teach in my videos even though they’re about solo or couple travel. Once a teacher always a teacher. I agree with what Jemma said, you can become a writer!!! I’d read your work.

So good to have you back and to see your new little girl .Children are so precious as I found out as I lost my only Son on Christmas Day last year and it's the worst pain ever . Treasure your child , you only get one go at this and every minute spent with them remains with them forever . Looking after yourself is important too , if you're not good you can't give yourself to your little one . Housework will be there when you are dead and gone was what my Grandmother always said to me and she was right . When I laid my dear Son to rest I swore that never again would I worry about the small stuff . Thank you for taking this time out of your now busy day to make this video , I'm sure we all appreciate it . Have fun with your child ,they're not small for long .Lots of love to you all xx💔

I find that the “busy work” that I developed as a mother was some of the most meaningful work of my life. It’s incredibly grounding when you begin to take root in your home. I have a new found appreciation in homemaking… I consider it to be a role that goes far beyond cleaning and cooking. There is magic that occurs when we focus on the welfare of the household. It happens even when we are introducing our little ones to their spider friends for the first time. Or eating a new fruit for the first time. I am so happy that you are healing and growing in this new phase of life. ♥️ Many blessings to you. 🙏 ✨

As I turn 76 in a few days, I have finally given myself permission to slow down and deepen my life, to do less but enjoy it more, to shift my always too high expectations of myself and what I think I “have to” accomplish and be gentler with myself, respectful of my diminished energy, and deeply grateful for good health, a cozy cottage, a lovely circle of alliances, and wonderful memories. Thank you so much for this video, I’m in my late 30s and have been afraid to have a child because I am introverted and need a slower pace in life. All the moms I know are rushing around everywhere to keep up all the time and it has seemed like something I would not be capable of. This makes me think that maybe there is another way, so for that I am grateful! Beautiful to have you back 💜
When I was younger and frightened of the prospect of labour and becoming a mother for the first time. My first trip to the midwife I was lucky to sit next to a lady that was on her 6th pregnancy. She described it as an orchestra conductor. You can play very dramatically and pull in every part of the orchestra. Or you can just play soft music and only have four strings. Now obviously it depends on your circumstances but women have had babies since the beginning of time and been successful. As they don't come with a manner there is a good chance you would make a good mother and thankfully we are not all the same, which means what you think you lack maybe the one thing everyone needs.

I had three and was lucky enough to stay at home when they were young. We lived in the country, thrifted clothes and other items we needed, cooked from scratch and lived a frugal life. I’ve never regretted the time I spent with my girls. I know this is not for everyone though. Each to their own. You are wise to give yourself latitude in finding your way. As you say there’ll be plenty of opportunity for change as time goes by. Enjoy every minute of it! Much love 💕
What a happy, observant little one! How she enjoys your little foraging outings! I've had to limit my gardening and food preserving this fall. But I still had some to share with loved ones and I think the quality of each item was better because of the care and attention I gave the process. Slowing down, focusing on less, feeling in the present and doing each task with love in our hearts has such a positive impact.

I love going out on my walks with my dog, and enjoy all the wildlife around me, and this keeps me going. I have sold my car, as I could not afford it, and I was not using it. Welcome back and congratulations! I am so glad you are being completely honest about the changes you are experiencing as well as things you have changed for where you are now! It’s perfectly ok to do what you need to do for now. Yes, the first year goes quickly, but I can say all the years fly. The days are long but the years are short. My last baby just left for college and it’s a tremendous change for me as I have been a stay at home mom for 24 years. For me, it was easier to adjust to having them than having them fly! But, I will adjust and take care of myself until I do. Welcome back and thank you for your soothing video.

I love that you take her foraging with you. It reminds me of a photo my mom took of me when I was a baby where I'm sampling an autumn leaf with a very intense look of concentration on my face. It's so good to have you gracing my screen again. :-) I don't have a child of my own, but my niece is basically my little girl -- I first met her at the age of 13 months (she was born in China), and earlier this year we celebrated her 13th birthday. All those moments of wonder at seeing something for the first time, of holding little fingers in your hand during a walk, of quietly watching a little one sleep.. they are beyond precious, and even more fleeting. Hold onto those moments & memories as best you can! I'm looking forward to more new videos, but with the expectation that they will come as your new position in life as a mother allows.

I find that the “busy work” that I developed as a mother was some of the most meaningful work of my life. It’s incredibly grounding when you begin to take root in your home. I have a new found appreciation in homemaking… I consider it to be a role that goes far beyond cleaning and cooking. There is magic that occurs when we focus on the welfare of the household. It happens even when we are introducing our little ones to their spider friends for the first time. Or eating a new fruit for the first time. I am so happy that you are healing and growing in this new phase of life. ♥️ Many blessings to you. 🙏 ✨

Thank you so much for this video, I’m in my late 30s and have been afraid to have a child because I am introverted and need a slower pace in life. All the moms I know are rushing around everywhere to keep up all the time and it has seemed like something I would not be capable of. This makes me think that maybe there is another way, so for that I am grateful! Beautiful to have you back 💜
When I was younger and frightened of the prospect of labour and becoming a mother for the first time. My first trip to the midwife I was lucky to sit next to a lady that was on her 6th pregnancy. She described it as an orchestra conductor. You can play very dramatically and pull in every part of the orchestra. Or you can just play soft music and only have four strings. Now obviously it depends on your circumstances but women have had babies since the beginning of time and been successful. As they don't come with a manner there is a good chance you would make a good mother and thankfully we are not all the same, which means what you think you lack maybe the one thing everyone needs.

Thank you for this lovely reminder to take it slow and be gentle. My darling dog died 2 days ago and it is a huge change and of course a big heartbreak. Taking things slow, no pressure on myself is definitely what's needed at this time.

I truly don’t know how mothers work and raise children. I had three and was lucky enough to stay at home when they were young.
We lived in the country, thrifted clothes and other items we needed, cooked from scratch and lived a frugal life. I’ve never regretted the time I spent with my girls.
I know this is not for everyone though. Each to their own.
You are wise to give yourself latitude in finding your way. As you say there’ll be plenty of opportunity for change as time goes by. Enjoy every minute of it!

What a happy, observant little one! How she enjoys your little foraging outings! I've had to limit my gardening and food preserving this fall. But I still had some to share with loved ones and I think the quality of each item was better because of the care and attention I gave the process. Slowing down, focusing on less, feeling in the present and doing each task with love in our hearts has such a positive impact.

I love going out on my walks with my dog, and enjoy all the wildlife around me, and this keeps me going. I have sold my car, as I could not afford it, and I was not using it. Your vids keep me going, along with others that I watch, of real folk, like yourself, kind loving folk. We have so many things to be thankful for. Thank you for your lovely quiet video. xxx

Welcome back and congratulations! I am so glad you are being completely honest about the changes you are experiencing as well as things you have changed for where you are now! It’s perfectly ok to do what you need to do for now. Yes, the first year goes quickly, but I can say all the years fly. The days are long but the years are short. My last baby just left for college and it’s a tremendous change for me as I have been a stay at home mom for 24 years. For me, it was easier to adjust to having them than having them fly! But, I will adjust and take care of myself until I do. Welcome back and thank you for your soothing video.

I love that you take her foraging with you. It reminds me of a photo my mom took of me when I was a baby where I'm sampling an autumn leaf with a very intense look of concentration on my face. I'm a full time working mom and prepare all of our meals because we are plant based as well as do cloth diapers. It's hard, but it does get easier. You are doing great. Keep it up!

I used to look so forward to waking up on Sunday mornings here in the US to another addition of fairyland cottage. this past year has brought big changes in my life as well. Battling breast cancer certainly put my life into perspective and I’ve slow down and done much more natural remedies and foods myself. I am so thankful that you all are back and what a beautiful little family you have! I love that you said you do what works for you in a particular season and then when you need to change, you will change. I look so forward to the next season of fairyland cottage videos!

It's so good to have you gracing my screen again. :-) I don't have a child of my own, but my niece is basically my little girl -- I first met her at the age of 13 months (she was born in China), and earlier this year we celebrated her 13th birthday. All those moments of wonder at seeing something for the first time, of holding little fingers in your hand during a walk, of quietly watching a little one sleep.. they are beyond precious, and even more fleeting. Hold onto those moments & memories as best you can! I'm looking forward to more new videos, but with the expectation that they will come as your new position in life as a mother allows.
