    Mike talking shit about himself and then Kush sweetly tricking him into giving a detailed explanation about why he's done such a great job is the most wholesome thing I've seen all week.

    I enjoy this format without a timer. Mike doesn't panic, therefore we get to experience his thought process as someone with years of experience cooking, rather than pandemonium. Kush is such a fantastic addition to the team.

      Seems like we do, we see Kush as much as Evers (sic?) these days, he's the second chef now. Although I notice the 1/2 chefs 3 normals opener is gone from the intro, about, etc, like they don't want to define the team that rigidly any more.

    • @puzzleginger
      @puzzleginger ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@myname-mz3lo I wouldn't even say that, it's just that Ebbers has long since passed on his knowledge over the last 13 or so years. Even two equally skilled teachers have different areas of specialization. Probably helps as well that Kush's restaurant experience is far more recent, he'll have picked up some modern tricks that just weren't used back when Ebbers got his training.

It's been really fun to watch him learn from Kush and Kush is a great teacher and an inspired chef. It might be fun to see Mike come up with a dish and have Kush cook what he thinks the dish is just from the name of the dish.

  • @thomasandrewclifford

    I do love the teaching style of reflection at the end. It honestly brings something a little new to the "battle" content by having it be more about the normals finding out where they needed to do things differently. It's very refreshing and I'd love to see it with Kush and the other normals. Finding out where I went wrong in my own cooking practice has been a valuable practice for me.

    I find that Kush explaining things is actually inspiring. I don't need to redo the whole dish, I can just go ohhhh I can make polenta like this. Or, ohhhh I can crisp up garlic (for whatever recipe) like this. It's really cool.

    I said it for episode 1 and I’ll say it again: this format is amazing. Fun and entertaining, yet full of super useful insight into the mind of a brilliant chef. It almost reminds me of the old format where you’d all do 3 versions of the same dish, but with different levels of complexity or time required. Also, more Kush is always a good thing!

    On the one hand, yayee more Kush cooking and more of this series! I really like it
    On the other hand, poor Mike! The other normals need to be on the receiving end of Kush's skills too!
    Actually, maybe even Ebbers. I laughed so much at Kush casually throwing shade at Ebbers' knife skills in that one short and one battle, and I want more smack talk! 😂

  • @therabbits69

    Kush is super supportive of the normals. He knows they aren't professional chefs and that they will make mistakes or simply not have the experience that is gained by working in a high stress enviroment. Giving feedback on what he thinks could be done better without being negative is super nice to see.

    I love how kush judges things, he seems so honest like if somethings bad he'll tell you but also he talks through the cooking process explaining how you ended up where you did which is really useful bc it's easy to go that all went well or that all went horribly when in reality there's always areas to improve but you also almost never do nothing right
