      People who truly care about what they do want to help others do well in that field. All of the chefs and normals on sorted do this, and you can tell they all like each other. If your guy friend isn't screwing with you, that's when you know you aren't really friends. Guys screw with each other, it's in the DNA.
      But being snarky or insulting isn't bad, if it's done in good fun.

      His coaching style is fantastic. Leads them to their own answers instead of just giving them, is brutally honest but never comes across as mean spirited in any way. Walking that line betweent telling someone you know they can do better without making them feel like they've failed is super tough. He's an excellent teacher

    The great thing about this format is that it shows that you can cook a fairly decent dish even if you are a normal, but it clearly highlights the differences between a trained chef and home cook. Sometimes when it is only Ben or Kush cooking, their methods and thinking seems so obvious, but this simultaneous stuff really directs the attentiton to the differences that can add that extra touch.

      And it’s a weird thing to get wrong too because it’s so easy to remember. 100g -> 1 egg.
      I was going to say that the only recipe easier to remember is pound cake but actually there you have to remember 4 eggs (which I suppose is 1 egg per ingredient but it’s still adding complexity)

I like that no matter what he does he is always teaching and encouraging. I've also learned a lot of things to do and not to do from his tips while he is cooking. Jamie has come such a LONG way in his skills and knowledge. You both made lovely dishes. Did anyone notice Jamie's plating?.....Great job!

    What I love about Kush is that he may be harsh at times, but always follows it with advice on how to improve and fix that mistake (unless it's something they already know). He cares about food, and he knows they care about getting better, so he helps them. And help sometimes has to be blunt. It's just good mentoring! And yeah he's snarky, but he's thier friend, it's all within the bounds he knows they're comfortable with. It'd all in good fun :)

It’s always a pleasure to watch a master of their craft at work, all the more so when they share what they’re doing and why, and he’s really grown into a very capable instructor. Kush: "Raviolis are cooked. Sauce is nice and warm. I'm gonna slightly emulsify it with some pasta water. I'm gonna go in with the rest of the rocket just to wilt through, give a bit of color. Then, I'll plate up.😊"
    Jamie: "🎶make my butter sage-y🎶. How sage-y? I don't know😠"

      for a one-off not really all that much, unless you take away tasting before serving too, there's no real hard comparison to hold it against, it should at least be held against some baseline
      but if you're going to crank out thousands of dishes and have it consistent eyeballing it, yeah there's a level of skill/learning curve to that,
      or having a gigantic batch so they're still uniform and therefor the baseline lol

      So fun things about being trained and having a lot of experience for the most part. Even if it's not exact. Generally we can just eyeball it or measure it in our hand. Need one pound of pretty much any type of meat I can cut it. The granted a pound of beef is not the same size as a pound of chicken or a pound of salmon or a pound of tuna or swordfish.

      @borttorbbq2556 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Home cooks can learn it too. If they have a tendency to make a lot of the same dishes, they will eventually learn how to make them without measurement. I will always measure baking stuff though. I can tinker a dish and make it delicious even if I mess up. Baked goods are not so forgiving. That really is kind of a science with those ones. It is literally Chemistry. And food science is a thing.

      In my part of the world, family recipes are always a 'measure with your heart' situation!

    You can clearly tell with how Kush looked after Jamie said he completely failed at the butter sauce that he didn't like the way Jamie put himself down. Kush is extremely supportive of the normals.
