I'm from Big Rock in Buchanan county Virginia, about a mile from the Kentucky line. Most of my ancestors were from Pikeville and Pike county Kentucky though. Love this!

I absolutely love this video. It was done with such love and respect. The music also was terrific. I can't even begin to imagine the time it took to do this. But it was great!

The majority of my family on my mother's side were all from Pikeville. My mother was born there in 1933. My great grandparents ran the Poor Farm there for several years. Grandpa was Stevens family and grandma was Little family. I have photos and news papers from that time I still enjoy reading and looking through. My mother's family moved to Columbus Ohio in the early 40s. My grandpa had landed a job on the railroad. As a young boy, I can remember having to drive through creeks and springs to get up to the houses where some of my family lived. Most were coal miners and lived in shacks with no running water or electric, like you see in the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter". I haven't been back there in almost 60 years, but it sure looks like it has come a long way since. Someday I hope to return to Pikeville, but probably won't learn much as almost all the family has passed away. On the other hand, I'm still finding cousins I never knew I had...

Thank you, for taking the time to do this video. My family moved to Eastern Kentucky through a land grant for serving in the Rev War. That was a long time ago ;). I've often wondered what the area looked like way back then. Edit @ 9:12 there it is! Tackett! @ 11:33 does that sign say "Mullins"? Mullins DNA too ;)

I too have Mullins DNA. Check out Potters cemetery. Also known as murdered man's cemetery. Probably lots of your blood in that ground.

I'm a Bostonian and I love Pikeville too. I (and 2 other guys from our company) stayed in Pikeville last Sept 2015. We were there on business and stayed just for a couple days, but I loved Pikeville. Small city, scenic, nice hotels, university/medical school that keep a buzz of students and activity, nice central park, and the surrounding Appalachian mountains topped it off.
