      its much faster for pro mechanics to do this because the bikes and their components are consumable. I heard a mechanic once say, "don't do this to your bike because it wont last as long. we do it because that doesn't matter to us". also riding your bike in rainy and or windy conditions will do as much damage as pressure washing it. so when people complain about pressure washing and then take their £6k bike out in the rain I facepalm.

    This is so cool to watch. Got my precious BMC spring of 21 and I put more miles on it per week than my Jeep. But the only maintenance I do is pump up the tires 😝so I tried to go about cleaning it yesterday, and realized very quickly I was out of my league lol. So took to bike shop and they’re going to take the drive train totally apart and put in their parts washer! Plus bleed my brakes whatever that means since I have to squeeze them 3x to actually get a stop, and abunch of other “take care “ Stuff for my bike. The bike was too pricey and too much risk IMO for me to try to hard core clean it myself. I know it’s lame of me to not do myself but dang, they set me up with a loaner new Trek for my inner city houston commuting, which I’m digging right now, and I’ll get my BMC in 5 days practically in new condition😊 cost some money but es ok, I’ve saved so much doing 99% of my commuting on my BMC. I love bikes

    Unless there's gravel stuck to my bike, I never wash it now that I wax my chain. The bike gets 500mi a month of commuting. Too much grease gets washed out, just from a regular hose, so it isn't worth it to me just to make the paint look clean. The bike is aluminum, so it won't rust, and the wax keeps the drivetrain clean. Washing is overrated unless the bike is muddy af.

    The two hilarious things about the comments here, one the hole idea that you will get water in the bearings has been tested and debunked so many times I don't know how people think it's an issue. And second most pro teams don't get everything for free, not every team you see on Sram or Shimano drive trains are getting them for free, I'm sure they are getting wholesale prices, but they are still buying them. And little bonus most of these teams are running ceramic bearing that need to be cleaned out and regreased regularly anyway.

    • @derf9465
      @derf9465 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once the seal gets old, due to uv, temperature, age, abrasion. Then yep water and dirt will get in. We don't use jet washers on aircraft components for that simple reason. At the end of the day it's just a cheap rubber seal, it will give way, just like washing machine bearings, the soap and heat destroy those.
