Did you adjust the variable resistors on the compressor board at all? I cannot find something useful in the manual on how to adjust it properly. And did you change any settings in the radio menu or service menu?
I had a audio booster installed in the FT-817 stock mic a while back.. Will the DYC-8X7 work better or is it overkill?
Without knowing what the 'booster' is doing I can't say.
Wonder why Yaesu doesn't just build this circuitry into the radio? Surely they know how crappy it is without it.
More DSP = more battery drain
