*Great product. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I have never used a baitcaster before and did a lot of research before buying this one. I bought it with the Torrent casting rod as well and it works very nice.*
I have a Blackmax and I have a few of the Lew's that are in the $100-$200 range and i can feel the difference when casting and reeling in. The more expensive ones with more bearings are much smoother. As far as catching fish goes... a reel is a reel. Its all about how you use it and knowing how to use it with its limitations and advantages.
My blackmax worked great until the bearings went out. I prefer my Quantum Dominator baitcaster I picked up at Scheels. It's hands down the best reel I've ever owned.
I just wanted to share something with the other people on here. If you look at most reel diagrams from the manufacturer you can see where the difference differences are in parts between say a 50.00 spinning reel and a 100.00 spinning reel by the same company. Most of the reel housings stay the same in the low end and midrange reels so usually the only differences are additional bearings. Most companies use the same housing for both reels and just install a nylon insert in the less expensive ones on some of the bearing slots. So on most spinning reels if you just remove the nylon inserts and install a 6.00 bearing in a few extra places you now have their 100.00 or 125.00 spinning reel for about 68.00. You would be blown away by how close the designs on many reels are... it is just a bunch of parts swapping that creates the different price points.
The Abu Garcia Black Maxx was my first, and only, baitcaster. It catches fish. I obviously have no comparison to more expensive reels but it was highly recommended to me as a great beginner baitcasting reel and I've had 0 issues out of it. I've never felt like I was missing out on not spending absurd amounts of money though. I caught my biggest bass on a 12 dollar shakespeare spinning combo from Wal-Mart
How long have you had the Black Max for? Just got mine today because the reviews were really good and I was on a budget. Just wondering how durable it really is
I have the Black Max with a Shimano rod and honestly I feel like if you spend over 75 dollars on a setup then more than that won't make a massive difference in performance. I highly doubt that a really expensive reel will catch more fish
As someone on a Budget, I go with what I can afford ($20 - $50 set ups), if it comes down to it I'll throw line and a hook on a stick. At the end of the day It'll still catch fish.
I completely agree!! Especially Abu Gracia. I own 1 Black Max and 3 Silver Max combos. They fish just as good if not better than my Revo X, Revo STX, and Revo S reels that cost 2x or 3x the price.

Kast King reels are not that expensive but they work pretty good. I too fish cheaper rods / reels despite the fact I own expensive ones too. I don't feel comfortable leaving good gear in my truck all the time. I often stop for an hour here or there to fish when I get a chance. I have no issue using the cheap stuff

Kalamity Goat yeah the Mach 2 is fantastic, I just picked up a spinning combo and it’s nice, if you live by an academy definitely go there, they always have the best prices.
Jason Josey2005 I’m considering buying a baitcaster reel(I’ve never used one before) I’ve always used the regular reels and if I were to buy one I’d probably buy that one from the research I’ve done. Would you recommend me get that reel since you actually the reel. And any tips for the reel to?
How did they break?? I would like to know the weak point. I use a lews also, had 2 down to one. I use my Garcia's and the Lews for salt, and fresh with 15-20lbs line, mono and braid. All my rods have similar, not exact same, set ups. I mostly catch big channel cats, and for salt I get big red drum. My reels haven't failed ever, even in salt water with no rinse. So what failed on yours??
I really am truly glad that you didn’t diss the Abu Garcia. For young fishermen that don’t have a salary, its almost impossible to buy an expensive real. I have the exact same Abu Garcia real and by god it was the best $40 purchase I have ever made. It has to be the best real under $50.
Same her bro it performs like a 150$ reel but affordable to the blue collar man that has no sponsers an Ivehad mine for a few years an still working t give up!! Def bang for the buck on them black Max's with a decent gear ratio as well for fishing diff lures.
@Johnny #59 ya man especially when coming to flipping I agree 100% but for the poor white man it's def worth the 40-50$ I haven't even serviced the reel since I've had it an takes a beating in my work truck so if it breaks well it's payed herself off already lol but ya when I hit the lakes by boat I take the better rod and reels! Tight lines my man
Im 12 and bought a Shimano Metanium MGL. I got the money for chrismas and i help my dad with work sometimes so i make do money but not much. But i still love my black max
I always use the Lews Speed Spool LFS, and the Lews Carbonfire. When you put some line saver on those reels, they cast a friggin mile. But I think along with the reels, the line and rod length and sensitivity plays a key role in the performance of the reel. I tried a more expensive reel, and it just didn't cut the mustard for me. The Speed Spool LFS is by far my favorite reel. The only thing that I would like to see different on them, is a metal drag star. I have a black max, and there are a few things that I don't really like about it. One, is the handle length. It seems a bit too small for me. 2, is the gear ratio. The Bass here where I live are extremely aggressive, so I don't normally throw anything less than a 6:8:1. (Which would be a Lews) It feels very inexpensive compared to all my other reels. But it really comes down to the user, and preference. I have caught right at 5 pound bass on Dock Demons, so that really goes to show you it comes down to the user. I paid like $9 for that reel/rod at wal-mart, and have caught really nice fish with it. Good video, great perspective! Nice fish guys!
Ive had the cheap one, the black max for about 2 years now. Still works like it came out of the box. I am so happy with it and I never considered getting a new one nor will I for the near future. Great video flair.
I just got one of those and thank you for saying that i got a abu garcia black max rod and reel and now i know it will last a while still have not got a fish on it and its my first baitcaster so ya
I would love to spend a day with a $400 reel - it's not necessary to catching fish but for something in your hands all day, it's nice to have the nicer tools if nothing for the feel, reliability, long life, and user serviceability. I never set a budget but I tend to cap myself around $200-ish for a combo, I feel that's high enough to buy some quality so I'm not out fishing with beginner gear, but low enough to have an abundance and share with guests and have multiple setups. That's just me, can't say it'll work for everyone. Fun videos guys, thanks again!
Do a cheap vs expensive rod challenge like a $70 vs. $200 that would be cool to see how much a difference it makes behind "brand name"and "cheaper brand name" like the hook up ratio and the action plus durability 🤔
Thank you so much for this challenge of the expensive versus the cheap real. I greatly appreciate it for years I have wondered and wondered about it and I didn't think it made that big of a difference not actually seeing you out doing it it's all the angler. I usually spend about 80 to $100 on a reel and I think I'm doing just fine I appreciate this.
I hadnt fished in 7 years, got a black max and a decent casting rod, now im crushing 2 pound smallies and pike on swimbaits, and crankbaits. Never had so much fun! Been abusing the hell out of blackmax for a month straight now. Only reel i own. Still smooth as butter would highly recommend it to anyone for any fishing! BOOM!
It will meet your expectations, email us and we are seeking for anglers who would love to try and test our baitcasting fishing reel, offer usage experience and (or) suggestions on our product improvement, also post related product reviews with pictures or videos to promote our products and brand.
Ill give you some tips to spool new lines on the spool for my own experience. I would simply get a bowl of hot water from the sink. Put the lines into the bowl of hot water and then line thru your guides to your spool. Once completed tying the line to the spool. In which you will know how to spool lines into it. The only way i do that way is that wetting the line with hot water from the sink is to loosen up the lines and making it smoother casting and everything. When you spool lines dried, you can actually see the lines are bulky and dried as heck. And it also seems like first couple of cast will cause you to backlash.
Keep the beard brother, it suits you well ! Great vidja as always! I find myself torn between saving up for an expensive reel or owning a small arsenal of cheaper reels
If you have to save up to buy the expensive rod you are a fucking idiot for buying that over something you can actually afford, all for what? A little maybe noticeable luxury? Millions of people for thousands of years never needed anything more than $40 for their entire setup. Hell I have a rod and reel that I bought in the 80’s for $20 that I have caught thousands of fish on and works perfectly fine to this day..When you have to save up to buy a $400 fishing reel vs buying something you can actually afford is the exact reason why you will always be broke and never have wealth.
I have 2 Black Max's, 1 Silver max, and a KastKing Royale Legend. All but the KK were bought as combos. They work just fine. They catch fish. That being said i do have my eye on a few reels out there that are in the $80-$120 range. Would not spend $400 on a reel.
By experience, I get less or no backlashes using a magnetic braking system with more magnetic beans . This is comparably using the same rod, bait, line, and casting technique. I've even tried thumbless and backlash-free baitcasting on the 10 magnet beans $40 reel. Try the SeaKnight Falcon!
Literally use a $20 Shakespeare baitcaster COMBO I found from Walmart. It was the cheapest way for me to get a feel out a baitcaster. I mostly use open face reels.
The Black Max was my first baitcaster, still love it. I’ve found a sweet spot around the $100 range, especially with a lucky find of a Daiwa Tatula at that mark. I may splurge and get the new Curado DC - it would be the most expensive reel I’ve ever used.
I'm still using a Diawa Magforce reel with a 5.18:1 retrieve and an Ugly Stick that are both 40 years old and no longer in production. Catches fish just as good as any high-dollar rig. Knowledge catches fish!
Awesome video once again! I know that Abu Garcia Orra was at one point a 100 dollar reel and yet was tough and durable for any angler. It doesn't break the bank, this is what I really like and use. Any reel or rod can catch a fish but its the knowledge and experience that really puts fish in the boat. My personal opinion, I would not spend over a hundred bucks on reel, just use what feels right to you and that will make a huge difference.
I tend to go from super cheap for things that I don’t expect to use a ton to mid range (~$80-120). I really think you hit diminishing returns after that. Would love to see more cheap vs. expensive.
I'm dying. Thank you for liking my comment. Your literally my favorite I love fishing but I'm a girl and people don't seem to want to take me fishing. I spend all day in my creek in my pasture catching fathead minnows and creek chub. I am in hope to meet you one day and go fishing with you.
I have a $50 Abu Garcia baitcaster on an old Zebco 2 piece rod that used to have a Zebco 33 reel on it. I primarily use it for when I travel because it can break down to 2 pieces and if it gets damaged I won't lose sleep over it. I still catch fish with it. As I see it, choosing the right bait and knowing where to find the fish is far more important than what reel or rod you use.
I use a Johnny Morris baitcaster from bass pro shops its about 130-150 bucks. there is a big difference from this reel to a cheap one they sell.. keep the beard.. it looks good on you...
the Black Max is a great feel with my experience, I left it in the back of my uncle's truck for around a year, when I got that rod and reel back, the reel was still fully operational, and working well, great budget reel
I started out in casting reels with a Promax, and they work very well for the money. Now I have a couple Shimanos and a couple Diawas, it took sometime getting them, but I still have my Promax it has caught hundreds of fish, maybe even 1000+ over the course of about 8 years. No matter how much you pay for your reel they will last if you maintain them, and treat them well.
I’ve got probably 8-9 silver/blackmax reels and they have been fine for everything from small bass up to 20lb drum/catfish. Another that’s in roughly the same price range that’s really nice is the Lews Speed spool Mark rose edition. The magnetic brakes are crazy sensitive and it runs around $65. Ive got reels as cheap as the Granite outdoors baitcaster ($26) and some as high as a abu Garcia Revo Sx ($175). More expensive will get you smoother operating gear but as far as reliability goes, if you take care of it, a $25 reel will last as long as a $400 reel.
I bought a 25$ baitcaster at walmart 4 years ago I've caught a 9.6 pound largemouth bass on it Multiple big 2-8 lb bass on it 6 lb smallmouth on it I've even put it in a catfish rod and caught 10-15 lb channel catfish and even a 45lb flathead, multiple big carp I love the old fart I've never used a rod or reel anything over 100$ And caught some big fish and even some huge turtles
The black max is fine for a beginner baitcaster, but you can also get good quality reels that put it to shame for just a little more. Lew's Laser MG is only about $80, and it kicks major ass.
I have a 12 year old $120 BPS Extreme baitcaster and 7 ft 6 combo that I use for flipping and pitching in heavy southern grass and pads and all I have ever had to do was yearly maintenance on the reel. Still going 💪
I use the $80 cabelas new tournament edition reel and it’s definitely one of the best I’ve had for the price, it works like my $250 shimano curado DC reel
I've never owned a $400 reel, but I have caught everything from small blue gills to massive northern pike on a $40 Kast King bait caster. It's got 10 ball bearings and for the money, it's honestly buttery smooth. I can cast the thing a country mile and it catches plenty of fish. I don't care nearly as much about name brand as I do performance. This thing just plain works.
One thing to mention though too is that usually more expensive reels are made of higher quality materials that last longer. To really tell if you get your moneys worth you need to put those reels through alot of work.
I have 6 kids and no extra money to spend on reels yet, when my dad passed I got his only fishing stuff, they are zebco and Shakespeare, I jig fish on a small fenwick rod and Shakespeare reel on 4lb line, catch over 30 gills and a few bass almost Everytime I go fishing 🤣🤣
I’ve got $200 Shimano reels, and picked up a Black Max at Academy to put on an older rod to keep in my truck. Maybe I’m not very sophisticated, but the Garcia fishes just as good as the expensive reels. Do I enjoy using the expensive reels? You bet I do, but I probably catch just as many fish with the cheap reel.
Totally agree with you about $100.00 being the sweet spot, but the Black Max has surprised me because it's the one that gets no care, and rides in my truck 100% of the time, sometimes in the cab, and sometimes in the bed. After two years, it's still going strong. I personally think the $100.00 Lew's reels are a bargain and that's probably what I'll use to replace the Black Max when it wears out.
No the reel (baitcaster) cast the line so the more expensive ususly has vetter bearings wich casts farther. I own both shimano metanium mgl abd black max VERY LARGE DIFFRENCE. My black max casts about max 75 to 100 feet but the metanium cast like 270+ feet max about 300 feet
Been fishing since I was 5 with my gramps and we have always used the 50-80$ set ups good tackle, & line and have never had problems catching fish- if I was dependent upon my gear for my paycheck then the high end gear probably lasts longer and more dependable but for the average guy I think the under 100$ stuff works great, it allows me to have a couple different options ready to go for the price of one. Good vid.
Most of the time, It's the angler behind the equipment that catches fish. I have sixteen rods and reels. Some are high end, some are not and they both get the job done. :)
40-100$ reels honestly I’ve been fishing my whole life and I’ve tried every price range and as long as you clean a 40$ reel good it will work just as well and as long as a 400$
He's making the Black Max look bad.... Awesome reel for it's price. I'm new to baitcasting. Got mine today haha... I was scared, I thought I invested into the wrong reel when I saw the Black Max wasn't doing well in this video. Works fine so far. Minimal backlash even with very cheap 20 lb mono (decent distance casting too). Just get it dialed in
Nikita Trofimenkovs definitely checkout the Lews Laser MG, I’m really into budget reels and it’s a solid reel for the money, had mine for about a year now and I love it even more than my shimano citica lol.
Do you have to set the brakes on? Mine REQUIRES brakes to be 3+ in order to not get backlashes when casting. And it just can't cast nearly as far as my expensive reel.
Fishing is Life I’m not a huge fan of floro just because it’s so expensive, I like to use 8-15 pound mono and 25-40 pound braid. I never run into problems using mono other than the little stretch and having to change the line more often.
Fishing is Life the black max can be weird with certain lines, best set up for me is 12 pound mono or 25 pound braid for them, i run close to no breaks at all because I use a lot of weightless soft plastics when using that reel.
I also have Favorite Shot Gun. This is my first casting rod, and the only one so far. Yesterday I had first day of fishing, and have not caught anything. Need to learn the twitching techniques...
I have 4 shimano calai reels I’ve used for 15 years. They’ve been from Alaska to Argentina and never missed a beat. Have never been professionally cleaned or repaired and I’m sure my son will get a lifetime of joy from them. You get what you pay for usually. A 20 lb. peacock will change your mind about cheap equipment.
A little something you should know is that price is irrelevant. I've had a 200 pole that couldn't take the strain of the water or getting snagged on rocks. It broke fairly easily and at the same time I've had cheapo 10 dollar rods of the same material that simply won't break. I've TRIED to break that. They just won't. The same thing applies to reels. For baitcasters, rat nests happen when the line isn't wound properly. The guy at the fishing store you went to MOST LIKELY messed up the cheap reel's winding on purpose to make it seem like it was garbage. They're both fantastic reels. PLUS the skill of the fishermen has to be taken into account, hook size, bait used, technique. You can't simply judge a reel by how many fish you catch. My buddy bought a 120 dollar bait caster that he ended up having to throw into storage because it just wouldn't work, but a 40 dollar one handled perfectly. My point is, it's not about cost, it's about material. Besides, I would bet that most of that money you spent on that reel was the brand name, not the reel itself.
I have to agree with you on this. I grew up using a Zebco 33 paired with a $20 rod, and that reel lasted me for almost 25 years of moderate to heavy fishing. For casual fishermen, a lot of the equipment that FLAIR and the rest of the Googans use is over-the-top, with no disrespect towards the brands they use. Their Favorite rods are cool looking, but I'm not willing to dish out the amount of money they are being MSRP'd at.
I completely agree. They're nice looking rods but I can achieve the same results with my little diy rod. It's a top piece from a 40 year old aluminum rod glued into a thick oak dowel with hot glue on the bottom like a little rubber stopper. I simply tied my cheap spinning reel I got on amazon for 12 bucks and bam. I've been using it for years.
Yea I really didn't get how you can say a cheap reel is'nt good cause the user doesn't know how to use it vs an expensive one. What does expensive vs cheap even mean? lol it should have been about the actual reels vs the fish caught.

I think the real lesson here is that no matter which rod and reel you get, make sure to stay in the front of the boat.
front can be an advantage and disadvantage. I have beet many in the back of their boat and had my but kicked in the back of my boat

Anglers can get too hung up on gear. It's all about technique.
A poor craftsman blames his tools.
Agreed but no one wants a dull pocket knife.
@@offroadchevy4x496 any knife can be made sharp with proper technique. It all boils down to the person who owns the knife.

my black max is still my favorite
@Johnny #59 ya man especially when coming to flipping I agree 100% but for the poor white man it's def worth the 40-50$ I haven't even serviced the reel since I've had it an takes a beating in my work truck so if it breaks well it's payed herself off already lol but ya when I hit the lakes by boat I take the better rod and reels! Tight lines my man
I agree completely!
(Which would be a Lews)
It feels very inexpensive compared to all my other reels.
I would be more intrested in seeing a 40$ rod vs a 400$ rod.. reels are important, but the rod is where the feel comes in to play..
exactly...we can work around the reel..make it work..but the rod makes a big difference landing, feeling, and setting the hook..
Line is a big part too
G loomis vs ugly stick 😂🤣
Work and Play Ugly Stik FTW
$200 that would be cool to see how much a difference it makes behind "brand name"and "cheaper brand name" like the hook up ratio and the action plus durability 🤔
as soon as the video started i went to the comments to see how many beard comments there were lmao

BOOM!
When John started catching fish flair always ended up in the front the next clip. 😂🤔😂

I've had a $29 rod and reel and I've had it for over 4 years and it still works
Looking to get a new one though
“Where’s my pliers? Not trying to get Kachowed by this.” Continues to pull out hooks without pliers.
Keep the beard brother, it suits you well ! Great vidja as always! I find myself torn between saving up for an expensive reel or owning a small arsenal of cheaper reels
Its_ Anthony994 what are you talking about it looks horrible
If you have to save up to buy the expensive rod you are a fucking idiot for buying that over something you can actually afford, all for what? A little maybe noticeable luxury? Millions of people for thousands of years never needed anything more than $40 for their entire setup. Hell I have a rod and reel that I bought in the 80’s for $20 that I have caught thousands of fish on and works perfectly fine to this day..When you have to save up to buy a $400 fishing reel vs buying something you can actually afford is the exact reason why you will always be broke and never have wealth.
2fastHarley how have you coght a thousand fish cause I haven’t even coghht 20
I have 2 Black Max's, 1 Silver max, and a KastKing Royale Legend. All but the KK were bought as combos. They work just fine. They catch fish. That being said i do have my eye on a few reels out there that are in the $80-$120 range. Would not spend $400 on a reel.
Bruh it doesn't matter lmao, me and my friend went carp fishing with a stick, a wooden stick with a line tied on it lmao, we caught 3 of them

Glad you didn’t diss the cheap reel in the end. Rather, referring to position in the boat. I would agree.
Cheap vs expensive baitcaster results
The front of the boat is a winner 😂
The difference is an expensive bait caster isn’t gonna birds nest as easily
Nah man it’s how about how u fish
By experience, I get less or no backlashes using a magnetic braking system with more magnetic beans . This is comparably using the same rod, bait, line, and casting technique. I've even tried thumbless and backlash-free baitcasting on the 10 magnet beans $40 reel. Try the SeaKnight Falcon!
Wrong it depends on your set up and if you have a good thumb control
You are wrong good sir
skill I think means more there; expensive one will last longer though
Literally use a $20 Shakespeare baitcaster COMBO I found from Walmart. It was the cheapest way for me to get a feel out a baitcaster. I mostly use open face reels.
Thats good, because when you get a better cast reel, you'll be in heaven how nice it casts.
The Black Max was my first baitcaster, still love it. I’ve found a sweet spot around the $100 range, especially with a lucky find of a Daiwa Tatula at that mark. I may splurge and get the new Curado DC - it would be the most expensive reel I’ve ever used.
Brett Siegle I still use a black max. It’s awesome for the price.
Lews makes a really good $100 reel. Mostly what I use. Smooth cast and retrieval
I have 3 promax reels on ugly stick elites. Love them. I have no reason to spend more.
I have promax combo 70$ and daiwa tatula hd+ shimano zodias 375£. When have brand new you can't feel de difference
After one season will see
Bmax was my first baitcaster too now I use 100-120 dollar reels I found an Abu Garcia revox for 50 and that’s a 100 dollar reel
You should giveaway the reels
Black Max is the best cheap reel out there in my opinion. Personally I like Lewis. Usually spend 70-100
Lews? I love there spinning reels dont really use baitcaster much
It does not matter what real it's the lure
I tend to go from super cheap for things that I don’t expect to use a ton to mid range (~$80-120). I really think you hit diminishing returns after that. Would love to see more cheap vs. expensive.
Thanks for this would love to see a test like this about cheap vs expensive fish finders. Cheers
Well I have a black max and a revo s and I love both. I mean it's $40 vs $100 and both are great so I guess it's like you said ... Preferance.

I think the sensitivity of the rod is more important. The right rod with the right reel is the way to go.
I use a Johnny Morris baitcaster from bass pro shops its about 130-150 bucks. there is a big difference from this reel to a cheap one they sell.. keep the beard.. it looks good on you...
DARIN PILOo
Every right hander I know reels with their right hand, unless it's a spinning setup. I think that's the norm actually.
I use a sougayilang left handed baitcaster and it is a pretty great reel for around 50$
the Black Max is a great feel with my experience, I left it in the back of my uncle's truck for around a year, when I got that rod and reel back, the reel was still fully operational, and working well, great budget reel
I started out in casting reels with a Promax, and they work very well for the money. Now I have a couple Shimanos and a couple Diawas, it took sometime getting them, but I still have my Promax it has caught hundreds of fish, maybe even 1000+ over the course of about 8 years. No matter how much you pay for your reel they will last if you maintain them, and treat them well.
want a challenge i bass fish with a Shakespeare 4'6 micro spin cast combo using 6lb trilene smooth cast line let me tell ya it's a hoot.
Caught a little bass on one of those today! It's fun listening to the drag peel off.
I use nothing but cheap stuff had my 20 dollar rod & reel combo for 3 years
rain city fishing it’s not the rod or the reel it’s the bait and the technique so the cheap stuff is just as good as the expensive
Still rocking a 20year old ugly stick spinning combo lmao

$80-130 is the most I’ve ever owned. I’m in love with my Lew’s equipment!! Definitely my favorite stuff!
Ayyyye look at the beard!!!!!
I bought a 25$ baitcaster at walmart 4 years ago
I've caught a 9.6 pound largemouth bass on it
Multiple big 2-8 lb bass on it
6 lb smallmouth on it
I've even put it in a catfish rod and caught 10-15 lb channel catfish and even a 45lb flathead, multiple big carp
I love the old fart
I've never used a rod or reel anything over 100$
And caught some big fish and even some huge turtles

The black max is fine for a beginner baitcaster, but you can also get good quality reels that put it to shame for just a little more. Lew's Laser MG is only about $80, and it kicks major ass.
I have a 12 year old $120 BPS Extreme baitcaster and 7 ft 6 combo that I use for flipping and pitching in heavy southern grass and pads and all I have ever had to do was yearly maintenance on the reel. Still going 💪
Is it me or he looks like Jack Black with hes beard on? No offence it fits you well flair
When are the googan baits going to restock ?!!!
I use the $80 cabelas new tournament edition reel and it’s definitely one of the best I’ve had for the price, it works like my $250 shimano curado DC reel
Email us, admin@goture.com, we have the baitcasting fishing reel that value $51.89 and now for free charge to wait someone test.
Damn Flair, who knew you could grow anything. I'm not gay, but you look good with da facial hair
Keith Lucia guess I’m an asshole. It was just a simple comment, calm down
I’ve got $200 Shimano reels, and picked up a Black Max at Academy to put on an older rod to keep in my truck. Maybe I’m not very sophisticated, but the Garcia fishes just as good as the expensive reels. Do I enjoy using the expensive reels? You bet I do, but I probably catch just as many fish with the cheap reel.
They don’t though. You can make due with cheap reels, but the black max is a piece of crap. 100 dollar reels are the sweet spot value wise.
It’ll be good for now but they don’t last as long as the more expensive reels.
Agree.
Not gonna lie the cheap bait caster looks better than the expensive reel.
Abu BlackMax on a medium rod. Abu ProMax on a medium/heavy rod. That's what I use. Best budget combos imho.
I'm using the Abu Garcia max black I'm ok with it
It's a good reel it just burns out really fast if you fish a lot
@@jarodjochimsen3736 oh ok well I don't cus of time
The reel just holds the line , the rod is more important . I have a black max and have never had an issue
Live to hunt Hunt to live I do too but recently it's been creaking and squeaking when I hook up to a big bass.

@@SaucyTacos2001 just needs some maintenance bro take it apart and oil that mofo up ive had mine for about 4 years and its smooth as butter
Today is September 1st and it's my birthday today 😂
Been fishing since I was 5 with my gramps and we have always used the 50-80$ set ups good tackle, & line and have never had problems catching fish- if I was dependent upon my gear for my paycheck then the high end gear probably lasts longer and more dependable but for the average guy I think the under 100$ stuff works great, it allows me to have a couple different options ready to go for the price of one. Good vid.
Most of the time, It's the angler behind the equipment that catches fish. I have sixteen rods and reels. Some are high end, some are not and they both get the job done. :)
When did Flair die? Is this bearded man his dad taking over his channel?

They were using forocarbon that’s why or at least I think
Keep the beard!!
@Sun Cease stop being negative there's no need for that
Who's watching this a year later
Yessir
Yo
Yah I am 12 so my budget is small I use the black max and I have hooked fought and landed yellowfin tuna on that reel
Yea I really didn't get how you can say a cheap reel is'nt good cause the user doesn't know how to use it vs an expensive one.
What does expensive vs cheap even mean? lol it should have been about the actual reels vs the fish caught.
Why would your buddy throw the reel in storage if it doesn't work? Reels take up hardly any space, just keep it in a drawer or sell it.
My combo's cost 25-40. Still have my first Shakespeare closed bail from 25 years ago. Now my daughter is learning with it.
I have the black max and I have had no problems it is a super good reel for the price.
