The Spider Dome. God this makes me miss Stillwater. Back when any given day of the week you could see awsome live music. Boland, Ragweed, Steve Rice, The Great Divide, The Rangers. Lots of beer, lots of weed, and lots of hot girls.
This is one of the best bands I've ever heard . Just found these good ole boys the other day and I've done saved about at least 25 or 30 of there songs to my playlist.
I love CCR. They deserve so much more recognition than they received. That said ... Cody Canada's solo music is not as good. Which seems odd to me, as I thought he was the heart and soul of this band.
my friends and I used to cover this song years ago. We are up north and this was always popular when we played it. You have to love this band, a shame they were not more popular.
They were considered "Red Dirt Country" from the 2000s to 2010 (or that's the stations Dallas radio played them on, and the shows here were always with other country/red dirt artists - they toured with Aaron Watson, and I still love him too), so the "rock"/"alternative" stations/festivals/venues wouldn't book them. Cody (lead/singer) and Jeremy (bass) are in a band they formed right after CCR broke up (I'm pretty sure it was either Grady or Randy's wife that had a baby while they were on tour, and they just toured so much, he didn't want to miss out on any more of his kids' firsts) called The Departed. They still put on amazing shows, same energy as I've been seeing for the last 24 years.
I truly think this is group has made more consistently great recordings, than almost any group I know of. It's sad that they never got the national recognition that they very much deserved. And so wish they were still making music.
Cody and Jeremy made the band The Departed! I feel like I've seen Cody live every single year since like 2000 (when I could sneak out and make the hour drive to Dallas without my parents knowing at 16/17 lol), and they still put on an amazing show every single time. It was so often, they recognize me and ask to see my new tattoos even if they can't remember my name.
Hard driving rock, with literate lyrics that are sung clearly enough to hear. A very appealing, and highly unusual, combination. Wasn't familiar with this band at all, but I'm glad I stumbled across this video.
+johannmarlowe I have to listen to the Outlaw Country Station to hear some good Alternative Rock. Too bad this type of music isn't even played on rock radio anymore.
Love these guys in Maryland. I run a small Bar in Charles County and I turn folks on to these guys constantly. We definitely need you guys back together.
And to @roxcityusa you obviously wouldn't recognize good music even if it hit you in your large f****** head. They were popular for over 10 years, played 250 shows a year and stayed mostly to small venues and such because they enjoyed their music and not the idea of becoming famous. That's what real music is about.
Randy or the drummer's wide had a baby while they were on tour, and he just felt like they were always on tour (true) and he didn't want to miss any more of his kids' firsts. Cody and Jeremy (lead/singer and bassist) formed a band and still tour, called The Departed.
It's great I have been to a lot of their shows and their my favorite but it seems like they just got popular as nd I hate it when a band gets popular and people are like"we are you biggest fan " when they only listen to one song I'm like nigga I listened to them since I was like 6
@roxcityusa Guess you never heard of -- Willie Nelson, Lightnin' Hopkins, George Strait, Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Hank Thompson, Ray Price, T-Bone Burnett, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Archie Bell & the Drells, Johnny Guitar Watson, Ornette Coleman, Townes Van Zandt, Selena Quintanilla, Pantera, Steve Miller, Charlie Sexton, Janis Joplin, ZZ Top.
rock on Cody. We'll always miss Grady, Jeremy ( who's still with him ) and Randy, they were Awsome, thing's change, I wish they wouldn't have broken up but they did, can't change that. But we can support Grady by going to Yukon to Grandy's 66 Pub, and Randy by using his company. By the way, I've been to Grady's and kind of know him, he love's to put live music on stage and for everyone to have a great time. Gradys66.com look him up if your around the OKC area.
This is the real deal,BTW@JJCasuals:Ragweed don't need to rip ANYONE OFF,Cody can out-rock any of em,don't listen if you don't like.....this man is fine as they come in ALL WAYS......:D
its not a rip off, if it were in anyway similar, which it is... they would have had to have gotten the rights from nirvana or whoever owns the rights to that video now.
@kryptokrow first off the lead singer didnt dump the band if you actually knew a little bit about ragweed you would know that they took leave they are still are real good friends and second off the drummer quit so he could be with his son and grady is back in oklahoma as well cody and jeremy has a new band called cody canada and the departed so learn your shit before you start talking about something you dont know about
@roxcityusa you only wish you could play and were as great as Cross Canidian Ragweed. You need to take the USA off the end of your name and put C-R-A-P.
One of the best live shows I ever attended. Shame they disbanded. Made a ton of great music!
The Spider Dome. God this makes me miss Stillwater. Back when any given day of the week you could see awsome live music. Boland, Ragweed, Steve Rice, The Great Divide, The Rangers. Lots of beer, lots of weed, and lots of hot girls.
Best band ever and most underrated ever. I wish their songs were played more often.
But isn't it kinda better to be in on this secret that not enough people know?
I posted this to Facebook about the time I had the ex wife served with divorce papers. Nine beautiful years ago. It felt good.
my eyes are leakin...
CONGRATS BROTHER!
This is one of the best bands I've ever heard . Just found these good ole boys the other day and I've done saved about at least 25 or 30 of there songs to my playlist.
Jan 17, 2020 "Don't Need You" comes out of retirement. They killed it!
Cody Canada is one of the best musicians I have ever heard and I love anything he does
I love CCR. They deserve so much more recognition than they received. That said ... Cody Canada's solo music is not as good. Which seems odd to me, as I thought he was the heart and soul of this band.

Their songs have helped me get through a couple of moments. And I really like On a Cloud.

That drum dive at the end looked painful. Almost as painful as the beginning of the video.
I loved the soul gravy cd but have not really liked the garage or highway 377 cd's, soul gravy BY FAR their best
for the 10 thumbs down.. That better just be because of the beginning...
anybody else think that is the most hilarious music video entry ever? LOL
its not a rip off, if it were in anyway similar, which it is... they would have had to have gotten the rights from nirvana or whoever owns the rights to that video now.
