A little reminiscing about the yard and lawn project. We've come a long way in a year.
The kids came out to finish installing the dock and launch the pontoon.
The boys (dogs), Toby, Melvin, and Larry enjoy water fun and critter chasing.

Plumbing items to me are always the hardest to make work right. I can see Dougo why that outdoor faucet is hard to reset each summer. Hopefully you got it right and it will work ok for the summer. Oh my.
Like the ceiling fans you put up in the patio area. Very nice. Will move the air on hot days.
Good teamwork getting the boards put together on the dock and boat area. Those look kind of heavy and hard to put together. Looks nice when put together. Nice going everyone!!!!!!!

I've only watched 3 seconds so far and I would say that "is there a right way or a wrong way" , is probably the best line I have heard on both Larson channels since I started watching years ago! I'm chucklin as I write this!

@@amysblessings There really isn't a right way - just get the job done. I understand, and I think the Lord is the right way. but I use that terms all the time (is there a right way or a wrong way) . I break stuff ( and fix it, as well as others mistakes that I encouraged to try) all the time because I,m always doing stuff. Somethings out of my comfort zone if you will, because I will try. . I didn't know - know I do- haha. God bless.

If you want to get rid of chipmunks the easy way, just take a 5 gallon bucket and fill it halfway up with water and then put sunflower seeds on top of the water. And then put it next to step or use a chunk or 2 x 4 for them to go up and jump into the bucket. Sunflower seeds, float chipmunks don’t. If you have a lot of them, you can get dozens of them a day. Works great for for mice also.

The end of your video brought back fond childhood memories of getting the dock, lift and boat into the water at my grandparents place on lake Pelican. Funny how different the emotions from looking forward to a summer of fun, and the end of the season when we had to winch it back up on shore.
You and Doug have a beautiful home and as you were showing us the photos of last year a quote came to mind maybe from your late President Roosevelt, I'm not sure, but it's something like: "Nothing of value ever comes easily without struggle, effort and pain." Something like that....as a Brit you guys can correct me on my ignorance, but you get the general idea. Sometimes you get the idea in this modern world that hard work is looked down on, when IMHO it's the worst mistake you can make. You guys certainly know how to work hard and you reap the rewards of that effort. Blessings from the UK.
Thank you. I found the quote. I would agree with you on how hard work can be looked down on. I wonder if some of the disdain comes from people looking in and seeing the results of the work without seeing the struggle that has ensued to get there.

I live in that southern minnesota that you are talking about. Are lakes and rivers are very full. I enjoy watching all the dougo to do lists. I have family up that way. Morris and Johnson
Another way to winterize is to add another valve and air compressor fitting after the 1/4 turn valves to blow all the water out with an air pig.
I have a bird garden outside my kitchen window with all kinds of feeders. I have a ladder to a platform outside my kitchen window so I can hand feed peanuts to the squirrels. We live in town & a pheasant showed up one year. I get all kinds of animals out there, except chipmunks. I haven’t seen a chipmunk for years. That’s bc we have a feral cat problem.

When we moved to our home we have now, we bad chipmunks. That winter a couple of stray cats showed up and we fed them. In the spring they went to work on the chipmunks. It took part of the summer, but no more chipmunks . Plus there good for mice. I like my cats.
If you don't mind them get two or three. Make sure to get them fixed.
You don't know how lucky you are to have help, because being disabled and struggling to get thing's done can be rough. I guess i feel like Paul, because in his weakness, he said that it strengthened him in patience and long suffering to spread the faith. G-d bless.

Hi, I use a Simmons shower valve and do not have to take it apart in the fall. We just shut off the water and pull the drain plug and take the hand held in the house for the winter here on Cape Cod. Also lots of Chippy's here , so far (6-27-24) we have relocated 19 chipmunks to a land far away .

Doug I bet if you shut the valves inside first and then open the bleed screw then open the shower valve it will drain all the water out without having to take the faucet apart every year.
Glue a magnet to the back of the fan remote and stick it on the side of the refrigerator out of sight.
Put a magnet on the remotes and fridge magnets. 🎉

Nothing like an outdoor shower., we have one it is used every day here in Maine weather permitting , it keeps all the moisture and steam out of the house .

Hey Doug, your faucet is a delta faucet, Lowe's has the cartridge you need
you should take us all for a boat ride around the lake.
Put a recirculating fixture in and and you water will warm much faster. I just got one from Home Depot
I love hostage but never knew how much deer like them until I watched your videos. I’m in the suburbs but most of the yards are fairly small and there lots of fences so the deer tend to go into the “rich” part of town where the houses have large, mostly unfenced lawns and are closer to a big park. I hope you find some plants the deer don’t care for to save the hostas.

Between Saturday afternoon and Tuesday at noon we got 8 inches of rain. I don't think we had that much all spring and summer last year.
We don't use screens in AZ in winter either Dougo.
Know how you feel about the water heater. Ours is beneath the bathrooms at on end of house. It takes forever to get hot water to the kitchen sink. I can just imagine how much we pay for the water bill is just waiting for hot water in the kitchen sink.

Make and air connection when you winterize it then you can blow out all the water and Chat Ching problem solved but close the valve and put ev antifreeze in there and it will be just fine

DougO! My wife and I just built physically built our own house and I wish you would have given me the hot water heater location advice a year ago lol. Our furnace is in the middle of the house and it still doesn’t work evenly though the house
You can put a mixing valve on hot water side & you have hot water any where in house when you turn on hot water !! Good video yal stay safe!

Ive seen people mount those remotes to the inside of outdoor kitchen doors. They stay dry and not lost if you double side tape them .
Gotta pull cartridge guts every year . Valves with bleeder are called stop and waste. Good work !

I really don’t like single handled faucets. Mine are all the old fashioned double handles (my favorites are the old school 4 prong models) with separate sprayers. I pet/house sit in client’s homes, haven’t used a single one of those faucets that allows the water to get just hot. My house was built in 1898, so the old fashioned handles fit.
Interesting to hear the Minnessooooottttaaaaa bluebirds get just as upset as Virginia bluebirds when you get around their nest.

FYI....I'm not 100% sure, but I think the so called 11:19 Vaseline is petroleum based and doesn't go good with rubber..ie O rings etc.
It’s why I don’t have it in the house. Petroleum for skin care? No thank you.
You just have to have a plumber come in and put in the correct shut off valves. I would have the plumber that did the remodel come in and do that for free cuz that's what should have been put in an outdoor shut off valve. Or technically any shut-off valve that's not under a sink.
Tankless water heater would've solved that
