If Luffy did that to Croc, he would have exploded into sand and reformed, unfazed, to call Luffy a "small fry," even though he didn't know the attack was coming (and unless Luffy was covered in water, to check his sand power)
Smoker and Ace: Have no such training advantage, meaning it wouldn't have mattered if the jutte was their, or not, it would have been the same effect. Let Ace set the standard for training his ability (Luffy had his since childhood, where Ace got his after setting out to sea), because he saw Smoker coming and _still_ got hammered through a wall, which leads one to believe that both of them were late-stage devil fruit users, lol

Well you can touch a Logia user, the whole turning into an element to avoid damage is something the Logia df user has to do willingly if they want to be touched or get hit by surprise then they can be touched, its more like a reflex thats why Luffy was able to hit Enel a bit after the whole Luffy is imune to electricity scene, Enel was just so suprised by that that he had his famous Enel face and wasnt thinking about turning into lightning to not take damage.

@@scareturtle5403 that's because he's rubber and electricity useless against it, same as how Luffy can't get damage by falling off from high places, even if he fells off from a Sky Island he would just bounce back like any rubber in real life. The concept is the same as in real life against Enel too, rubber is an insulator because it can limit the transfer of electricity. Well, as long as its 100% rubber, just like Luffy who is completely rubber, even his bones, flesh etc. everything of him. This is why any electricity useless against him, he can even grab a lightning and use it as a weapon if he wants and this is only his DF natural rubber qualities which he doesn't need to activate like Logias has to catch on the attacks. Also being Haki user doesn't means you can touch Logia user, there is exception, for example Aokiji whom against Whitebeard used Haki when he stabbed him yet still couldn't kill Aokiji because he used Observation Haki and turned into ice and let it pass through him like Katakuri does just back then Haki wasn't shown that well like today and it did confuse us back then ngl.
Luffy touched the sea stone weapon that’s why it worked, meanwhile ace forgot he was a logia for a whole 5 minutes

The reason Ace wasn't being hunted was because just like the real world, in order to claim a bounty on someone or something, you have to invest resources and there's a process for everything.
Smoker prolly filled out paperwork to collect on Luffy instead of Ace and also, much more paperwork would be involved with Ace's capture rather than Luffy. Tbh, if Ace was captured here, he would've still been alive...

Ace is a Yonko Commander and Smoker is a simple Marine Captain by the time of Alabasta. The World Gouvernement superiors theirselves wouldn't even allow Smoker to hunt Ace.
WE just have to see how careful WG is later on when it's about to mess with Yonkos to figure that out.
@@100sleepeon3 In the Wano Arc, Akainu warned Lucci to not fight Luffy and his crew without direct orders from the Government, just because he's now a Yonko. Smoker probably wasn't even allowed to capture Ace.

So a devil fruit can be turned off based on that person, so what if a person was about to go into the sea and drowned but he turned off his devil fruit? Why didnt anyone think of this?
If tou think about it, a devil fruit is the reason why that person is drowning and sapping him off that power but were showed more that even with seastone, a person still retains his individual strenght as luffy showed this when he trained in Wano’s jail.
And considering the insanity of the physical capabilities of One Piece like Aokiji and Akainu fighting for Ten days, Jinbei and Ace for five days, Roger and whitebeard for three days along with Kaido and Big mom for three days, a person can hold there breathe and turn off said devil fruit

Logia users have to consciously activate their elemental transformation; I’m sure a lot can do it reflexively but it’s not something that’s automatic
Attention was the pre Haki attempt by Oda to balance out Logia type fruits power. Smoker wasn't paying attention so Luffy was able to hit him. That and counter play like Luffys rubber being resistant to Enels lighting or Akainu and Ace. Over time it became too contrived to figure out how attention or counterplay could be used to beat stronger and smarter enemies while keeping non-fruit users like Zoro and Sanji from becoming Piccolo and Yamcha, so Oda introduced Haki as the one major power balancing retcon in the series. It's pretty impressive considering other shows like Naruto and Bleach by the end of their runs were constantly introducing new Haki like powers and systems to try and keep things balanced where One Piece has really only had Haki.
