Yes, he didn't want to become King, but his goals were pretty simple; survey and protect.
I love how Shanks has two very different speeds in his demeanor. There's his usual fearsome Yonko side the world sees him as, but at soon as someone mentions Luffy he switches to this endearing, happy-go-lucky uncle/older brother type guy. As far as I know, he's not even a bad guy, he's just crazy strong and doesn't take shit from the World Government.

They're on the opposite sides of the conflict, and Luffy absolutely beat the shit out of Coby when he decided to get in Luffy's way as he tried to get to Ace during the marine ford war, but that doesn't mean they're not still friends.

He's probably not the one that set the bounty, but someone else might have known about it and set the bounty accordingly. Now that I think about it, Ace was probably in a similar position. At this point in this story, Luffy had already fought a lot of powerful pirate captains and navy soldiers. I just find it funny the reason the bounty was raised was because of a corrupt navy officer hating Luffy for trashing his deal with the Arlong pirates.

I do like how they adapted this scene in live-action. Having Shanks pretending to be serious then make an arm joke is so perfect. Although Mihawk seems a little... too fabulous in that version.

Idk what tv show you were watching but there were very much stupid/silly moments in the lvie action show. That's why it succeeded. They managed to translate the corny/cheesy moments well in the Netflix live action, which many live actions before FAILED to do.
I've always loved the transition style of writing of these super dangerous guys being really serious then switching into this light friendly party with cute piano music...gets me everytime i loved one piece back then lol
I missed the old Days. Just luffy and the crew going on adventures. The original manga version of this scene is actually more badass ! When Mihawk first arrives he asked to see the "officers" and the next page you see Shanks, Roux, Beckman, Yassop and the other top pirates of Shank's crew all sitting there completely unfazed by seeing Mihawk. Really puts into perspective how powerful Shanks and his commanders are when they have absolutely no reaction to the arrival of the "World's Greatest Swordsman" !

Remember that he alone, without a crew, without an army, without land, without political and economic power, managed to have a reward of 2.6 billion, and not only that, he obtained that reward after spending a long time doing nothing, imagine what it would be. Mihawk's reward if he had a crew, territories and had done something big like kill someone important, he would easily have more than 3 billion.
And now he has 3 out of 4 of the Red Poneglyphs, unless he already has the last one which we only have the hint of burn scar, which i believe refers to Saul, or simply someone we havent met yet.
Shanks and Garp are my favourite characters and there personalities are just freaking awesome man both of them are Goofy, cheerful and levelheaded dude that everyone fears or respects. Both of them never go out of there way to make a name for themselves yet the entire world knows them. Both of them are nice guys when they're not the absolute monsters that they're when they get serious. Both them can easily overthrow most of the world government and plunge tgr world into chaos but just sit around chilling with there mates.
i know this isn't really related to the video but I love that the sound tracks from like early on in the anime are still being used in current episodes, it's amazing and I love it

@@eliasmartin9842 i mean, happens a lot in longer shows, especially when the manga are still ongoing with the anime, so occasionally they have to "pad time" to make the episodes shorter, to stretch out how much time they can get off the material left, so the author can get more out. there are time when they dont, and they just go ahead on a tangent or with loose notes, without the manga, and generally those end up being real whack animes that occasionally get remade once the manga is finished into infinitely more memorable versions
After rewatching this, I just realized that Shanks was "probably" not celebrating only because Luffy itself is starting to get a good hold of himself, but also that the path he "hopes" Luffy will take and get to (ep 1071, awakening Sun God Nika) is also now a tiny bit plausible. It's almost like Shanks was getting wasted here because he foresaw Luffy's awakening now.
What if it was Roger's plan?, or rather the One Piece requires the presence of the Sun God Nika to be able to do something Roger couldn't?, Shanks knows something we dont even through he didn't get to go there. Specially since we are starting to wonder if Shanks gave Luffy the fruit on purpose after everything we know now.

Arlong's bounty was only ฿20M. Luffy's _first_ bounty, when the Navy knows almost nothing about him, is ฿30M. This is the Navy saying that Luffy is the most dangerous pirate in East Blue and is a top priority to hunt down and capture/eliminate.

He's probably not the one that set the bounty, but someone else might have known about it and set the bounty accordingly. Now that I think about it, Ace was probably in a similar position. Both of them represented a threat just because of who their parents were, before they'd actually ever done anything noteworthy. And of course those fears were justified eventually on both counts.
Captain Nezumi set his first bounty of 30 million. He jacked it up so high on purpose to get revenge on him for defeating Arlong.
@@JaqenHqhar That's the rat-faced marine that was consorting with Arlong, right? I'm not sure how bounties are set, but I'd be a bit surprised if he could have determined the amount himself. More likely he exaggerated in his report in an effort to push the bounty higher, but didn't have any direct control over the final number. Luffy being who he is, though, he probably didn't have to talk him up much for the brass to take him seriously.

At this point in this story, Luffy had already fought a lot of powerful pirate captains and navy soldiers. I just find it funny the reason the bounty was raised was because of a corrupt navy officer hating Luffy for trashing his deal with the Arlong pirates.

And soloed the strongest creature on earth while BB only came to deal the finishing blow to an old,badly injured,sickened WB and ran with his tail between his legs when shanks showed up. it is kind of impressive how faithfull the tv show is but without the whole silliness and over the top situations of japanese animes... I wish Hollywood did star wars, dc movies, lord of the rings series, the witcher series, etc with the same kind of love
Idk what tv show you were watching but there were very much stupid/silly moments in the lvie action show. That's why it succeeded. They managed to translate the corny/cheesy moments well in the Netflix live action, which many live actions before FAILED to do.

I missed the old Days. Just luffy and the crew going on adventures. Luffy being luffy, zoro being zoro (getting lost), nami being the navigator so they don't get lost, usopp wanna become Brave Warrior of the Sea, Sanji a simp lord but a good cook, and chopper that's gonna join, robin, franky, brook, jinbei.

They show characters that have their own arc years before they do. This anime is more immersive than any other. The adventures haven’t stopped. The opponents just got much stronger.

The original manga version of this scene is actually more badass ! When Mihawk first arrives he asked to see the "officers" and the next page you see Shanks, Roux, Beckman, Yassop and the other top pirates of Shank's crew all sitting there completely unfazed by seeing Mihawk. Really puts into perspective how powerful Shanks and his commanders are when they have absolutely no reaction to the arrival of the "World's Greatest Swordsman" !

Remember that Mihawk is in the top 7 strongest characters in OP, at the level of Shanks or stronger. He could end up alone with all of his officers. Remember that he alone, without a crew, without an army, without land, without political and economic power, managed to have a reward of 2.6 billion, and not only that, he obtained that reward after spending a long time doing nothing, imagine what it would be. Mihawk's reward if he had a crew, territories and had done something big like kill someone important, he would easily have more than 3 billion.

Shanks and Garp are my favourite characters and there personalities are just freaking awesome man both of them are Goofy, cheerful and levelheaded dude that everyone fears or respects. Both of them never go out of there way to make a name for themselves yet the entire world knows them. Both of them are nice guys when they're not the absolute monsters that they're when they get serious. Both them can easily overthrow most of the world government and plunge tgr world into chaos but just sit around chilling with there mates.
Now we know why Shanks was so excited for Luffy to make it. He already knew his Devil Fruit was so special.

I remember reading this manga chapter. This celebration scene exists only in the anime! And it doesn't even feel like a filler! Oh I miss those old times where they would just add some little things and take some mini-arc stories to adapt instead of bringing useless fillers ('cause only one in ten is really worth watching).

@@eliasmartin9842 i mean, happens a lot in longer shows, especially when the manga are still ongoing with the anime, so occasionally they have to "pad time" to make the episodes shorter, to stretch out how much time they can get off the material left, so the author can get more out.
there are time when they dont, and they just go ahead on a tangent or with loose notes, without the manga, and generally those end up being real whack animes that occasionally get remade once the manga is finished into infinitely more memorable versions

After rewatching this, I just realized that Shanks was "probably" not celebrating only because Luffy itself is starting to get a good hold of himself, but also that the path he "hopes" Luffy will take and get to (ep 1071, awakening Sun God Nika) is also now a tiny bit plausible. It's almost like Shanks was getting wasted here because he foresaw Luffy's awakening now.
What if it was Roger's plan?, or rather the One Piece requires the presence of the Sun God Nika to be able to do something Roger couldn't?, Shanks knows something we dont even through he didn't get to go there.
Specially since we are starting to wonder if Shanks gave Luffy the fruit on purpose after everything we know now.
