I’ve been rewatching old episodes and my heart just does flip flops when you find all of your treasures. We were supposed to be coming to the UK and Ireland for a month in 2021 to celebrate my 50th birthday, but for obvious reasons that is now on hold until the world (hopefully) returns to a relatively normal state 😢 For now I will have to be satisfied with living out my mudlarking dreams vicariously through you lovely ladies.

@@NorthernMudlarks Gail and Alex, I have a couple of questions for you. If I may ask, what was the purpose of the miner's tags? I'm from the US and am not familiar with such things. Great fortune finding the piece of gold by the way.
Another question is what can/do you do with the really old coins you find, since they're so knackered and in some cases out of circulation, would you melt them down or turn them in to the FLO? Just a curious American here. 😃👋💟💫 Smashing finds ladies!

May you never have to deal with this horrible Coronavirus. I had it back in 2020 and was out of work for 2 months. I thought I would break my ribs from coughing so hard and so much. Fever, aches, etc.

Wow! What an amazing trove of treasure! I love the ancient safety pin. I had no idea those were that old an invention. And the ouroborous snake and anchor and twisty number 2 were all so exciting. Did you ever find out what the green stopper-like thing you found near the beginning was? It must be amazing to live in a place where really *ancient* artifacts can be found washed up on the beaches. Great video!! Me and my hubby had a wonderful time with you ladies mud larking while we are covid19 self isolating in Huntsville Alabama USA!! We’ve been to the UK 🇬🇧 several wonderful times. However, we have not had the chance to Mud Lark. So next trip we plan on going for sure! Love all your historical finds! And....WOW!! My father worked as jeweler ( not to be confused with a jailer! LOL) early on in San Francisco. He made my mother some charms which were to teach the fine details in metal working. Mom would take them out to show us kids once in a while. I, being the youngest, actually was allowed to play dolls with them. There was an object in your finds that looked like the scissors that he made. my father would have so loved you guys for "The Hunt" as well as your craft! I would love to send you some of our Northern California agates. They are the best!!! Barbi jo Safes, wises, and lots kindnesses found and given!

I just wish I had begun commenting from the first video of Northern Mudlarks I watched. As a dyed in the wool Luddite, coming to terms with my computer has been a begrudging struggle...hahaa. But you two, and your consumate joy and delight in your discoveries , blow me away. For TWO days I have watched nothing else. I have to bribe myself to go do stuff I need to do with the promise of once its done I get to come back to you two! Two hours drudgery, equals 4 hours of Northern Mudlarks.

The wind didn't seem to affect this video that much. But, after two days it did calm as they strolled along the harbor. Calm before another storm.

Unless you've lived in Scotland you can't appreciate how cold that wind is coming in off the ocean during the winter. It is numbing. Brrrrrrrrrr :) Beautiful scenery though.

What is a miners tag? The treasures you ring are so cool. The rocks are beautiful too. I like shredded wheat. Yes enjoyed the video.
I think it's what a miner would take down the mine with him, to show the foreman that he was at work.
Each miner had a personal number. Once the work shift was over the miner would return the token back to a cabinet so that it would be known that he was back on the surface.
Any missing tokens at the end of the day would be a cause for alarm, because it might be that someone is injured down the mine, and a search party would go down to find the missing person.
