Solo in One of Madrid’s Most Dangerous Areas || Pan Bendito & Usera

  • I did a walking tour to try and cover two of my favorite districts in Madrid - Carabanchel (where I live) and Usera. Both these districts are home to hundreds of thousands of residents from different ethic and cultural backgrounds and have many unique elements to them. Some would say these are "dangerous" areas. Are they really? Watch this video to find out if they are!

    Gated windows are normal all over Madrid if you live at the bottom floor and more so if you can reach the window from outside, I live in a good neighborhood and everyone has them

      Right .. it’s not the same in many European countries or in the United States. That’s why I was pointing it out because at the time mostly English speakers were watching these vids. Now my audience is 80% Spanish haha

      Si, la Cañada Real es una zona marginal y peligrosa, las "3.000 viviendas" de Sevilla es otra similar, todas las capitales de provincias y ciudades importantes tienen sus zonas vips y sus barrios pobres, deprimidos y marginales y no son parques temáticos, están poblados por individuos con bajo nivel cultural, asume que reaccionan mal y que no quieren publicidad.

    Thanks for sharing, my mum's from Usera so I've been around there a lot and it's very close to my heart. Lovely area and not very dangerous these days - it's even got that huge shiny mall now and the Calle 30 has really opened the area up and is beautiful to walk, run or cycle around. Just a shame they got rid of the Calderón, vaya puta lástima😭

      No, not to my knowledge. There wouldn’t be a reason for Koreans or Japanese to live here as they have great countries and economic situations themselves. What top areas/neighbourhoods would you suggest outside of the centre? I've been placed in Cubas de la Sagra, and in regards to metro/I've heard that under 26 is super cheap but over is a lot more expensive - how did you budget this? Thank you

    • @AdventureElliot
      @AdventureElliot  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends what you’re looking for! The youth metro card (abono) is only 20€ a month and you can travel through your all of the community of Madrid, not just the city. Includes buses, trains, metro.. its an insanely good deal.
      My favorite neighborhoods outside of the centro are cuatro caminos, a very diverse neighborhood with some spice north of the centro that has tons of shopping/food options. You feel like you’re in Latin America sometimes. I also like la Latina which has several neighborhoods (barrios) in it.. puerta de ángel, for example. It’s right next to Madrid’s biggest park, casa de campo which is beautiful. I lived near aluche which is a well connected neighborhood that’s cheap and diverse. Also puente de Vallecas has a amazing park, parque de las siete tetas.. I have a video on that.

    • @AdventureElliot
      @AdventureElliot  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kelly's Daybook I pay 54 for the monthly transport so it’s cheap compared to
      When I had a car in the U.S. and my rent was 310+ gastos with 2 other roommates. You can live near the center and find nice places (a room) for 300-500 euros easy and you can visit the center everyday if you want. And it’s less noisy and crowded that way.

    • @AdventureElliot
      @AdventureElliot  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also like Legazpi, which is where I ended this video. It’s a mix of centro vibes but also diverse and cheaper.

      @@AdventureElliot I'm 29 so no longer a 'youth' hahaa but wish I was as the youth pass is amazing! Fab thank you so much for all the advice - will look into these areas, La Latina I've heard is a cool vibe, it will be great to live a little outside so it is less noisy/crowded but still close -ish to centre. I want to be well connected as my commute is going to be pretty long so trying to figure it all out. Also worried about Spain going into a second lockdown so fingers crossed it still goes ahead!
