The 70s was such a great decade for music.
Absolutely. Long Summers, great music, freedom and not a hint of today’s whining entitled narcissists.
@@nigelturner3251 Bingo!!
Agreed!
amen!
oh yea
Along the same lines of smooth easy listening is another group named, Ambrosia. Couple of smooth ones from them are: "You're The Biggest Part of Me" and "How Much I Feel".
And Holding on to Yesterday was a big hit
i concur Ambrosia is so smooth with alot of hits
I was thinking the exact same thing. . . David Pack was still at it more recently, still sounded great
Pablo Cruise, Ace.
Ambrosia's smooth as hell.....but they started out in a more progressive vein.
Ah, the 70s. Was a great time to be alive. No internet, no cell phones, and the music was amazing.
And the serial killers....
First dance with a beautiful young lady who's been my wife for nearly 44 years and still going strong... Thanks for the memories, guys !
good on you bro. . . . wish I could say the same
Good for you my friend 😊😊😊.
Love hearing that!
Magic spell!
"This Time I'm in It for Love" made it to #10 on the charts as well but this was the only #1 they had.
The lead singer and guitarist (and co-writer of the song) is Peter Beckett while the bassist in red shirt and trousers is Ronn Moss (Ridge Forrester in "The Bold and the Beautiful") who left the soap opera a few years ago to rejoin the band.
Peter Beckett was also with Little River Band for over 8 years.
Actually Ronn was in a car accident and started having trouble remembering his lines so he left to be with the group for things he's remembered for 35+ years. I've watched his interviews
Yes, I remember some interviews in which he said that among the reasons that pushed him to leave the TV series there was also the fact that he lived quite far from the places where the scenes of "The Bold and the Beautiful" were filmed and commuting by car every day had become quite tiring and stressful.
Ridge Forrester is an all-time name.
They've got a hot sound! Like bee gees but with soul!
1 of the Smoothest songs Ever produced!!!
As a teenager, driving on the highway, pining over a lost girlfriend, these songs became the soundtrack of my life. They don't make songs like this anymore.
Because the world is terrible now ..who's the President?? 😭😡
They sure don't!
Agreed, pure class.
@@ziauddinkhan5699 absolutely!👍
@@michaelasay8587 This has nothing to relate with politics Dud...don't be a dumbass...
I was 20yrs old when this song came out , now 47 yrs later its nice to see young people appreciate the music we had in our youth .
Im so glad I was born in 1955 and got to hear all the good music from back in the day.
This song was number one back in 1977 on the billboards chart
Player is the right name for this band
70s 80s best Time best músic ever
Takes me back...I must say as a Senior we had awesome music back in the day...soft rock.
That was the term they used to call it- soft rock!
The 70’s had talent under every rock! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Glad you hit on this one , it was a huge hit in 1977 , on the radio constantly (yes all we had was radio back then). Another good one that year for me was "Smoke from A Distant Fire" by Sanford Townsend Band.
It's a timeless song from 70s a great song i love it...thanks and God bless both of you!!!!! Thanks from philippines
Many years back me n my wife went to see them along with ambrosia, firefall n little river band for our anniversary was a great show..
Here is a fun fact, the guy in the red shirt played the original Ridge Forester on Bold and the Beautiful.
My teen years at school and the first slow dance parties. Only good memories!!! 🪩🎶✌️This and “I’m Not in Love” by 10cc were my all time favorites!
Can't get enough of this wonderful song!
Gotta respect the oldies. Fucking Gold !!!
This might be one of the best videos on youtube and everybody who reacts, gives it high praise. Thanks for your added inspirations.
There is a point in the early 80s where this, the Pina Colada song, and Lady by Kenny Rogers, were just on every station you put on the radio. So great.
Yes, I would also recommend the group Ambrosia. Songs like " Your the Only Woman," or "That's How Much I Feel"
Solo at the end is icing on the cake! It'll make you make faces! Lol
Player had a couple of other "hits" one of which was " This Time I'm In It For Love" but back then if you didn't produce a top ten hit on the charts... problems would slowly creep in. Eventually there was a lawsuit. Over time there were about 18 different members of Player. At any rate we do have this song to remind us of how beautiful that great harmonies sounded. Take care..
They always reminded of the band Ambrosia with the way they sound.
The middle eight of this song is also brilliant and the placement of the guitar solo as the outro was a great choice. 🕊❤️🎼
This was a one hit wonder in my day. This one always comes back around when you're in that heartbreak moment and you just wonder back. That's it. Just that and that's why they wrote it and sang it for that very reason. It's a classic that will never go away.
Sometimes one timeless song is all you ever need
PS you need the album version
This was all over the radio back in the late 70s. It was classified as yacht rock. Player had a few other songs but this was their big hit, actually hitting at #1 on billboard . Not sure why they broke up but one member of the group went on to act in a TV soap opera show. Thanks for the great review. 👏👏🥰🇨🇦
"Yacht Rock" wasn't an official classification for the music produced during that time period (late 70s-early 80s) which was basically soft rock and adult contemporary and the term really originated in around 2005. Many successful artists like Hall and Oates, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, etc. found it offensive for their music to be associated with this new sub genre of music.
Player had two top ten hits - #1 Baby Come Back - and #10 This Time I'm In It For Love. Other hits: #27 Prisoner of Your Love - #46 It's for You ; #48 If Looks Could Kill ; #62 Silver Lining ; #105 Givin' It All.
They toured as an opening act for such artists as Gino Vanelli, Boz Scaggs, Eric Clapton, Heart, and Kenny Loggins.
I love "This Time I'm In It For Love". I guess because this song is so good it gets overlooked.
This song was HUGE in the 70s. I was just a kid but I remember it well blasting out of my sisters bedroom radio. haha
i remember buying this "45" at bradlees's
"this time i'm in it for love" went to top 10 also
so, two hit wonder
Another good one from this group "This Time I'm in It for Love" 1978
Didn't remember the band but as soon as I saw the song it was instantly remembered it. So many bands from then makes it hard to remember all of them but as soon as I see the song it's instantly know the words. Thanks for sharing with your TH-cam family and for the memories
Another banger by Player is “This time I’m in it for love.” 2 hit wonder. 👍🏽
Ron Moss (bassist) was absolutely my biggest crush in Jr high!
Another incredible song from the 70's. Simple. Smooth and timeless.
I remember being teen driving around with my buddies and this song coming on. Those were the best days ever.
This is a Great, Great Song !!!
Man I can remember I was in High School when this came out sophomore and this song was on that FM station all the time miss those days life seem so simple and easy.
Ambrosia - How Much I Feel should be next
This song, NEVER, gets old!
Awesome video and his voice is amazing❤❤
The early 1070's, the best time for soft rock. It was such a great dance song and also at the skating rink. Unfortunately, it was their one-hit-wonder. Others from this time was Orleans, Paper Lace, Bread, Rupert Holmes, Steely Dan, Seals & Croft.
Mostly agree, but Rupert Holmes (The Pina Colada song) was terrible.
@@historyguy5942His song "Him" was a much better song, although not as big of a hit.
was there even music tn the 1070's
@@vanhouten7377 LOL My typing is getting worse with age.
Player had one more song that hit the charts at #10 in 1977, called "This Time I'm In It For Love". Many people forget about this tune. Probably because it wasn't as big as "Baby Come Back" which went to #1 on billboard.
The guy in the orange shirt was a major lead character on the soap opera "The Bold & The Beautiful"...
He's got that smooth DJ voice
Starting in 1960 to 1970 with THE BEATLES (all the songs are great hits)

I was born in the golden era of music 1960 and today i am a happy young man on my 64 yrs old situation.
Welcome to the 70’s…..this is killer !
Imagine if every song was this good?
As far as the radio was concerned, they were a one hit wonder, however, there is just one hit after another on the album that contains this song. It is still one of my favorite albums. Very good band.
2 hit wonder...
This song was actually played in the 1st Transformer movie if you guys have ever watched it:)
The guy who playing the bass guitar his name is Ronn Moss who played Ridge Forrester on the show The Bold & The Beautiful!!!
It wasn't their only hit. "This time I'm in it for love" was another huge hit for them.
I don't think you can get more '70's than this song and video.
Just shows you that God gave every race soul and talent.
Great song. I always liked that 🎶 song 🎶
Just love when youngins finally hear our music......................
i agree, makes me feel there is hope out there.
Always loved this song. Love the 70s✌️❤️🎶
Player scored several US Hot 100 hits, three of which went into the top 40; two of those single releases went top 10, including "This Time I'm In It For Love" and their No. 1 hit "Baby Come Back."
Had the 45 of this song as a kid. The B-side was a song called "Love Is Where You Find It". The bass in that song is incredible.
You guys have to play "Him" from Roupert Homes. You won't be disappointed!
This, we called Soft Rock.
Peter Beckett joined the Band Ambrosia, Peter is the lead singer. The bass player Ron Moss became a Soap opera star.😊
Born in 1969 and loved all these songs growing up.
This one was all over the radio back in the day and I actually have the 45 on my old school Rock Ola jukebox!
Always loved the song. Great reaction as always.
The 60s through the 90s were the best music to me and this is really good song too
Havent watched yet...but this is an all time classic....especially late night early morning.
be Bold ...be Beautiful
See: Ronn Moss
😁
Dr Hook" Sylvia's Mother" or " When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman"...70s music cant be beat🤠📻🪇
Great song and performance. Love the reaction.
I actually love it when Sam acts or sings out a song. How dare you squelch her adorable spirit! "Nobody puts baby in the corner!" 🤣🤣
Great reaction today. This song will always be a banger!! 🤘😎
Really love this song, so awesome!❤❤❤
One Hit Wonder that never gets old !!! ah musicians played instruments not like those now who depend of computers to fix a song for them , pure talent !!!
Good music, sheet talent and no autotune. Have you ever done "Brandy" by Looking Glass? Another one hit wonder, but well worth listening to.
One of my favorite songs!!!!
This is so awesome! Love this song. These guys are so good. Love your reactions! ♥
Great reaction to a banger of a yaht rock 70’s smooth rock classic!! Other songs that you would like on this same line would be anything from Ambrosia, like “How Much I Feel”, and “Biggest Part of Me”. April Wines’ “Just Between you and me”, Atlantic Rythem Section’s “So Into You”, Excile’s “Kiss you all Over” and Ace’s “How Long”.
Oh boy !! No doubt that y'all are gonna love this one. Who doesn't?
They had another top 10 hit... This Time I'm In It For Love. Baby Come Back was #1
That was a banger, they had another great hit called, This time I am in it to win !
It's called This Time I'm in it for Love
@@richardcurtis5281 I messed up ,its a great song.
Loved your reaction to this song, it's a great song
The guy in the red shirt Ronn Moss went on to play Ridge Forester for about 25 years on the soap opera The Bold And The Beautiful ❤❤
If you liked this one you might like Mr. Big To Be With You. Great harmonies.
One of the great soft rock songs ever. It reminds me also, that outro guitar solos are nearly extinct now. Back in the day they were fairly common, as was the fade out.
Wow!! What an awesome song.
Absolutely love this song. Smooth is right❣️
This is a 70’s cheese fest and I’m 100% here for it! Loved this song since I heard it playing in the halls of my high school in the late 70’s.
Phil, you have such a gorgeous deep voice.
. . . has always been a favorite!!
The bass player is Ridge on the Bold and the Beautiful
They played some of this song in the first Transformers movie. When Megan Fox opens the hood trying to fix a Camaro. It comes on the Radio.
These dudes are fire....seriously underrated.
I read somewhere that 2 of the band members were actually in the middle of breakups at the time they recorded this song--so it was really coming from their hearts--and it came though...
Phil and Sam love your reactions. 👍
I remember this cool song when I was in grade school in the 70's. The bus driver would play music and this song was heard many of times...
Even though I was a rockin' teen in the 1970s when this song came out I had to acknowledge at the time that it was a very catchy soft rock/pop tune. Still holds up really well. How these guys didn't make a lot more memorable music is beyond me. The guitarist was really good.
P.S. In the realm of one-hit wonders like Player, you should check out another one-hit wonder. The Dutch group Diesel had a super catchy tune called Sausalito Summer Nights in the late 1970s. You won't be able to get the main guitar riff out of your head; there is also a nice solo in it.
Ron Moss with the red shirt played Ridge Forrester in The bold and the beautifull.
