Toyota Yaris Hybrid Review (2012 - 2014)

At the time of the release, Toyota Yaris only had few competitors that could really stand against its amazing low ownership cost. Toyota were one of the pioneers in popularising the hybrid car market with their popular Prius model. They were among the first automotive brand to introduce the hybrid technology into the supermini segment. Back in 2012, Yaris hybrid was more pricey than it competitors due to its hybrid technology but now, this car is a gold mine in the second hand market.

0:45 ATTENTION: B mode is meant to be used primarily on long downhill sections of road, like when descending down a mountain. It transfer engine braking from the electric motor-generators to the petrol engine, in order to avoid overcharging the hybrid battery and overheating the brakes. It will not provide any extra brake regeneration. B mode isn't supposed to be used in regular highway or city driving, since it will only make fuel economy worse. The normal D mode should be used instead, since it will allow full regenerative braking, which helps maintain charge in the hybrid battery.

Love the blue color, but it wasn’t available in the Netherlands. I bought a new Yaris Hybrid Dynamic with the panoramic roof and GPS in 2012. I love the glass roof, makes it easy to see the traffic lights when you are the first car in the queue. My car has the summer red color. Most people buy a white, grey or black version.
I live in Amsterdam, but have used it to visit Madrid, Warsaw, Prague and many more cities closer to Amsterdam. It’s perfectly fine for long trips.

Different price range. I would go for auris because it’s a bigger vehicle and offers more comfort.
