If it wasn't for a try hard coach who thought it was a genius move to play the best full forward in the game on a half forward flank, supposedly to develop Jay Neagle, Lloydy would have gotten there in less 300 games.

@@jasonfrisken7606 he damaged our culture too I felt, lots of our club greats hint at that when referring to that time. Oh well, we went with him rather than Dimma, because he told the board what they wanted to hear, and look how that panned out now.

@@taxads7791 wouldn't have mattered who they chose it was always going to be hard to replace Sheeds. But he said on the SACKED podcast that he wanted it to be Neale Daniher and, even though it would have been a short appointment with all of what he'd end up going through, I can't help but feel that should have been the choice they went with. Had it been Graeme McMahon as president they probably would have, hell Sheeds probably wouldn't have gone if he was. As to the culture, my personal opinion is it started to fall when Caracella, Heffernan, Blunfield and Dimma went in 01/2' and it just got progressively worse, to the point that where it completely fell away was obviously the drug saga. Getting Hirdy lifted it a bit initially but yeah the drug saga was the end. Took a long time to recover from there, hopefully Scotty is the start of it.

Would have been fantastic to see Lloyd kick 1000 but after hearing his story, I'm really happy for him, I always wondered why he retired so young when he was seemingly healthy, I thought maybe it was an underlying issue or something, but turns out he just lost his love for playing which is fair, he achieved so much in footy, there wasn't much more other than the 1000 goals and 300 games for him to achieve.

Huge respect for the Velvet Sledgehammer. Crazy to think he was only 31 when he retired. Would of hit 1,000 before Buddy ever did.. Not a popular opinion but couldn’t stand Franklin for the majority of his career.. Constantly checking himself in the mirror and playing for free kicks. Bit of a flog that gets heralded as a hero.. Lordo in his day was twice the goal kicker buddy ever was. Accurate, sound. Don’t come at me haha.
