    I find Matthew Lloyd the most respectable dude in AFL journalism in the country at the moment.
    He went through the heartbreak of 1999 and came back in one of the most successful teams in history (2000 bombers). So he has the credentials to be as blunt on any footy topic as possible (because he has been through it) When there has been so many incidences of media conflict of interest (Eddie with Collingwood, Roo with Adelaide... etc), he is the dude who never uses his “Essendon card” to show bias. Every single word he gives and delivers, he is coming from a fair dinkum balanced perspective...

      I am a Carlton supporter. I hated Lloyd as a player, but I consider him the best at what he is doing now. I would rather listen to him because he tells it how it is, no bullshyte. I want Carlton to pay him to teach Big Harry how to kick a ball. I also want him to go through Carlton's list and tick and cross the players we need for the following seasons. He knows what he is talking about.

    As an Essendon supporter I’m glad Lloydy flies the flag, but really he’s a lone voice. Unless you are bottom 4, people don’t really pay attention to in ineptitude at the club at every level,
    and then you have people like Caroline Wilson that make excuses for the club on a consistent basis, doing more harm than good. The club needs a radical change, but it will never happen sadly.

    Matthew Lloyd has every right to feel as disappointed as he does about the Bombers at the moment. He has been passionate about them throughout his entire life, and with so much at stake in Sunday's match against Geelong they didn't give a yelp in the first half. No wonder he and every other passionate Dons' fan would have been infuriated to see the players smiling when they broke up from the huddle before the 3rd quarter commenced.

    That midfield falls squarely at Dodoro’s feet. Lloyd’s should have called him out. That’s damming those height differences. Boak is the shortest from the other 2 clubs, still taller than Essendon’s 4.

    • @Cliffy1616
      @Cliffy1616 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I was debating a guy at work about it the other week. He was saying their mids are fine as is and my take was that while they’re good players they lack the size that other clubs Top midfielders have. I mean I’m pretty sure Heppel is their biggest midfielder and he’s been out injured all year and while I like him I certainly wouldn’t rate him as highly as the likes of Martin, Fyfe, Boak, Dangerfield, Cripps etc. so yeah their midfield is a big issue they’ve got good players in there but they aren’t the types of players that you want trying to barge their way through contests.

Any chance you blokes can do some positive clips, as in Geelong played bloody well, the ball movement was clean and crisp almost finals like. The kicking from the cats was methodical and hit the man more often than the pack. Just nice football to watch. Almost a training run. As for The boomers, they do nothing but boom at the wrong time. They should drop the boomers nickname and go back to the 1920's moniker Mosquito Fleet. Hope it's not a ACL for the young bloke, but fear it is.

Lloyd said earlier in the season how impressed he was with Essendon's improvement and how they were monty's for finals. Oh Gee, things have gone a little pear shaped since then and look at the knifes being thrown.
    Lloyd is a typical media sniper who picks out a bunny and verbally berates them on air and later tries to justify the cause. Rutten is not an Essendon person, if he has a bad year next season 'have mercy' , he'll be verbally vaporised by that Lloyd, again.

Worsfold didn't have to take on the job, he could have said "no bugger off" but he didnt! He knew Essendon needed help! Where was Lloydy when Essendon needed him? I will be a 50 year member next year and we will still be going nowhere unless a severe intervention occurs this off-season. We are an embarrassing Club that stands for nothing. We are 20 years without a premiership. This breaks our previous record 19 year drought between 1965 and 1984. We need a clean out from top to bottom. This list is over rated, SOFT and totally inconsistent. We need a strong Chairman and need to trade out 20 players and send Dodoro to pasture and start rebuilding asap. Carlton went on the right path and are now closer to a premiership than us. Memberships have nose dived by 30% this year and we will continue to lose supporters next year. We need a coach with a proper game plan - so Rutten needs to be replaced. I hope someone from the club reads this as we are unwatchable and have become a laughing stock and the rest of the competition gives us no respect.
