Road access is usually an issue. When i was building our house, i had to add 2 culverts in our farm drain with just 1 culvert thats serve as a bridge to be accessible for same type of truck that delivered your materials which was great also for long term use.
We are in North Cotabato 😊 it's great isn't it, peace and quiet! Hmm, not directly by us, we are surrounded by 100s of hectares of rice fields, and it doesn't seem like they are available as lots at all!
Did I hear you say you put ply for ceiling?? That is a bit of false economy as it will sag in a short time best to use hardiflex ( cement board ) no termite or bugs eating it and will last longer If you plan to put ceiling throughout best to look at cement board comes in different thickness cost a bit more for the out lay but saves in the long run
@john-yt1fm the ply ceiling was already there when we purchased it, it seems to be holding up so far as this house has been here years already lol. I probably will look at other options later down the line though because all the rivets are an eye-sore
My goodness you got a bargain house and land for 9 grand. Plastering the interior for 400quid also cheap. I would have fascia boards put in to fill the gap between roof and house. It will prevent insects and lizards getting in, also birds, and possibly snakes! Gutters and downspouts with barrels to catch rainwater would be useful too. You are going to redo the bathroom....that would be a priority to me personally, alongside the kitchen! You are making an office, so do you work from home in IT or something....is that what you did in the UK? You must be with a fillapina to be able to buy property and land is she staying away from the dirty work and just coming in to do the furnishings, blinds. etc?
We sure did haha! It was definitely a cracking find, and the situation was perfect with the sellers because they really were desperate to reclaim some money back... win win situation really. I've got mixed feelings about the fascia boards because some people are saying that it really gets too hot with that gap closed, because the heat rising inside here has nowhere to escape, so I'm not sure! I need to check out the gutters because there's some pooling happening, so either they're blocked or just not in very good shape, catching the rain water could be a cool idea, especially if something happens with the mains water unexpectedly! We've almost finished the rain water, the last bit of grouting for the floor tiles remaining, that'll all be shown in the future vids, but we're really happy with it. The kitchen for us is something that's going to wait, we've got the counter-top, sink and a single burner at the moment just to get by... bit by bit and we'll crack everything out, but for now, funds just aren't there haha! I've got a couple of companies based in the UK that operate online, that's our only source of income, I've always got Cambly English teaching as a backup, but the pay on that is terrible. Regine my wife is here every day with me, helping out with everything, cleaning and everything else, she's just not one for wanting to make an appearance in these videos... maybe in the future though! Thanks for your message and questions, love to see that you and others are enjoying the videos
@vahnmido05 yup! And also, it's really far off standards when compared to UK. I know that this work would get a lot of callbacks from customers in the UK, but here you just gotta kinda roll with it!
@@LifeAsWestwood maybe next time ask them to sand it down first before applying skimcoat this will save materials and time.. or maybe they just didn't know that they need to sand it down first? loose cement pebble messes up skimcoat application
@vahnmido05 I stupidly assumed that people offering a skill-set knew what had to be done, haha! They started and it was already too late 😅 it's alright though, wasn't too pricey even with that error to be honest
Hey, really appreciate the sharing here mate. Wishing you good fortune with the work!
Thanks so much, glad you're here with us 😊

Bless you, thanks so much! Although, I'm not Monetised yet because I don't have 1000 subs, so you can skip them. Hahaha

How mnay sqm is the property? Thanks.
@@lightner6924 total sqm is 441 😊
@lightner6924 that's the land, as for the house, not sure, not measured individually yet!
@@LifeAsWestwood Good size for the PH
@Jora-tuber that's what we thought too! Hell of a find to be honest!
ohhh no.. they did not sander the wall first before applying skimcoat :( no wonder you will need to use alot of skimcoat and that cost a lot..
