      How much time he spent is an EXTREMELY debated topic. However, in the first draft, it is said that Phil read every book in the library. A. Page. Every. Day. Given that the Punxatawney library is stated to have a bit over 29,000 books (29,084 if you want an exact amount), and that the average book page length is 273 pages, using simple multiplication, we can find that Phil spent AT LEAST 21,738 years in the loop. The reason for its removal is that the producer thought it was too big of a concept for mainstream audiences to grasp.

That is what Christians probably meant describing hell. You feel miserable, you feeling this is the worst day of your life and it never gets better ,you cant even die .
      Compared to this Murray had pretty good Groundhog day. He even got laid with woman who made noises like chipmunk when she was real excited ..

    I haven't met anyone that realizes that Harold Ramis made a mistake. Toward the end of the movie after Bill comes down off the stage from playing with the band, the piano teacher says "he's my student" and this would have never happened. Sometime during the night he would have approached the band and let them know he's a musician and they would offer for him to sit in with the band, because he knew to win Ali's favor was to play an instrument. The teachers response after he comes down from playing with the band would have been much different. Somewhere in the lines of - what a wonderful piano player and yes you can sit in with the band anytime! Because, she would have had NO knowledge she ever sat down one day teaching him how to play piano and there was enough time through his life at Punxsutawney to learn every song in the playlist ¿`_

    • @wirehairs
      @wirehairs ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Phil still took a less from the teacher earlier in the day. Because she also plays in this band, it was all the easier to sit in. Yes, kinda silly that she'd say "he's my student" after only one lesson, but it still works.

    I grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois, which is right next to Woodstock. They filmed Groundhog Day there when I was about 6 or 7 and I remember there being a lot of excitement around the filming. I actually remember going to the Tip Top Cafe a year or two after the movie came out! It only lasted a few years, sadly. To make things even more interesting to me I would end up moving to Pennsylvania when I was 10 where I have been ever since, and although I'm nowhere near Punxatawny it is interesting how the movie is related to both my home states.
    But even putting all that aside, even without the personal connection, this movie would still be one of my favorites of all time. It's a subtle masterpiece with a very humble, low-key style of presentation that hides layers of depth and meaning.The characters, the setting, and the progression of the story of Phil as he goes through several distinct phases is all masterfully done, tied together by Bill Murray's excellent acting. The movie gets surprisingly dark with its themes of death, but never loses its heart. Even little things like the choice of "You Don't Know Me" by Ray Charles in the gazebo scene are done right. Everything is in balance with this movie and it earns a perfect 10 in my book. I watch this movie every Groundhog Day and never get tired of it.

    I may have shared this before. Back in 1994, I had a 4-hour flight delay out of La Guardia Airport. I headed for the American Admirals Club and ran into Harold Ramis and an associate in the elevator. I introduced myself and shared that we had mutual friends in Joe Medjuck and Ivan Reitman from "Stripes" and "Ghostbusters". They invited me to join them for what turned into a delightful 4-hour conversation. They were in town location scouting for a new picture "with Billy Crystal and Bobby DeNiro" ("Analyze This"). Over drinks, I had to ask the obvious question- "how long was Phil Connor trapped in Groundhog Day?" "56 years" was his prompt reply. I've heard other numbers, some attributed to Ramis. I heard it from the source.

    At the time, I did not like Bill Murray as an actor, so I passed on the movie when it first ran. I met an old friend I had not seen since college at a bookstore. We chatted a while and then decided to go to the dollar theater in the same shopping center to take in a movie together. That is how I saw Groundhog Day. It changed my life.
    "I love this film. I've seen it over a hundred times." That is true for me and Groundhog Day. I owned a copy on VHS. I now have it on DVD.
    I love the move Amadeus, too, but it is a clear second to Groundhog Day.

    this is a great video! I have a special connection to the movie
    1. I live a half hour away from Woodstock and have family who lives there
    2. my best friends grandpa is in the movie. he is the foot that walks in the puddle at some point.
    admittedly I'm not too familiar with the movie, so I don't know when exactly it happens, but I still think it's cool.
    happy Thanksgiving Mr beat! I'm very thankful for your fun, interesting and informative content!
