  • Jeremy Clarkson is all about cars, old fashioned values, woke-baiting, climate change questioning, vegan-teasing and now farming. Giles Coren asks Jeremy Clarkson whether he is swapping the track for tractors permanently as his new show 'Clarkson's Farm' launches on Amazon Prime Video.

    The farmers here in Devon are exceedingly grateful to Clarkson. As one said to me “You’ll learn more about the countryside in two episodes of Clarkson’s Farm than 30 years of the BBC’s Countryfile”.

    My wife and I are farmers in America and just got done watching both seasons. I was nearly in tears because I would have never thought a show with a celebrity of this caliber would ever show all the work and pain and stress and regulatory burdens we all deal with as farmers. It's nice to finally get some recognition for everything we go through to provide the best food we can. Loved every episode!!!

      Thank you. Clarkson is like Marmite: you either love or or hate it.
      (Advertising campaign).
      He’s definitely a treasure & he’s both talented & hardworking.
      He’s very much self-made. Top Gear was Clarkson & his mates. If you look at early solo work, 90% of the recognisable characteristics were there before TG.
      He’s also an imaginative writer. I used to read his weekend syndicated column & those were turned into books.
      I don’t know why people think that what he says are automatically what he really thinks. But they often seem to, mistakenly, then get all outraged about what he’s said.

      Well said! He has with Clarkson’s Farm done more to bring to a wider public just how bloody hard & risky farming is. Nobody in their right mind should do it! But they do and what he has done is reveal the passion farmers have for what they do. That’s not my words that’s an arable farmer friend’s in Suffolk.

    The BBC knew it needed Clarkson - he reached audiences that the rest of the BBC couldn’t and he made them a fair chunk of money each year from worldwide sales of Top Gear, which he turned into a phenomenon. When the history of TV is written Top Gear, helmed by Clarkson, will rightly stand alone as the last hurrah of terrestrial TV. Clarkson’s Farm is similarly brilliant. A show about farming that millions want to watch. It was the best thing on TV in the last year.

  • @1000sxboy
    @1000sxboy ปีที่แล้ว +79

    Now watched both seasons of the farm, apart from finding it absolutely entertaining and also informative its got to be Clarkson at his very best. What i did not realize was the absolute dire straights that our farming industry is in. My heart went out to the two lady farmers who are obviously in real trouble with their dairy and piggery, a life line selling their products at the farm shop and restaurant was offered by Diddly squat wich seemed sensible to the point of genius. Then along comes the local council, no vision, no intelligence and no frigging idea. Its about time that our government stopped acting like the preverbal ostrich and started sorting out the economics of businesses not only farms but all businesses before we have no farms or local high street. Well done Jeremy thanks for the wonderful entertainment your farm has given me and the mindboggling problems brought on by an inept council and the interfering red tape bods.

    • @anthonypaynter828
      @anthonypaynter828 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well said. I wonder if French farmers have that much interference from their government. The council seems to be run by retired old blokes who do not see how Jeremy can bring additional employment to the area. They have made their money so they do not want Jeremy to be successful with his farm. Very sad really & so typical of so many councils running Britain today.!

    I've just finished watching the second series of Clarksons Farm and I've loved both series. This latest was hilarious in parts and I laughed out loud several times. The issues that Jeremy had in the second series with the Council were so frustrating I found myself feeling angry on his behalf. I do hope that after the series finished filming he actually took the Council to Court because in my opinion it was absolutely clear they were discriminating against him out of all the local farmers. They resented the fact that he was a media personality and petty jealousies surfaced. The series really did bring to light the nastiness and pettiness of those sitting on the council at that time. I sincerely hope they've been voted off in the interim. They didn't deserve their positions.

    I didn't like it when they just wrecked things on Top Gear, but here I am watching JC wreck things on his farm and I enjoy it. But the difference is it's not done intentionally and they fix it afterwards, often for the better.
    People should never get jealous of others spending their money, because every thing they buy is made by someone, sold by someone, delivered by someone and maintained by someone. If they leave it under the mattress it's just the housekeeper that has to sweep round it.
    Another Cotswold farming program shown on TH-cam is Harry's Farm, now Harry studied farming at university and so explains farming in an excellent way. He pulls apart articles on saving the planet and is even doing soil test that prove his best soil is pasture grazed by beef cattle. He is also looking into how many harvest years are left on his farm. It's an education to watch.
    PS: He also has a barn full of cars. Harry's Garage on TH-cam.

      I’ve the same philosophy. Not a tenth of Clarkson’s pile but still, it’s there to be spent. I try to bias spends as much as possible to local &/or small family businesses. If I don’t, they won’t be around!

    We can forgive Jeremy because he's a real person, he earned what he has today. He's not some unrealistic poofter who wants to save the whales and make everyone who doesn't make several hundred thousand pounds or more per year struggle buying food while those other buggers live in their luxury cottages and eat their ice cream while telling us how they think we should live our lives.

  • @stuffthings3728

    I see Jeremy and Giles..I click. I am a Canadian Grandmother - the furthest thing possible from a gear-head, but I enjoyed watching top gear and I love the Grand Tour, because of “the boys”. I’ve watched both Seasons of the goings on at Diddley Squat, and hated to see them end. Very informative, funny, and thought provoking. I love Jeremy’s irreverence and witty repartee with the local Council, and I really enjoy the insights from Charlie, and the local farmers that provide dairy, etc., to the Farm Shop. I could have wept for those poor farmers who lost half their herd to Bovine Tuberculosis. And Kaleb…I mean..seriously..he’s a 40 year old in a 22 year old body. Bloody brilliant, and he has no trouble telling Jeremy how it should be. Jeremy said EXACTLY what I was thinking about NOT producing food in the UK. Go back to 1940, and see how that worked out (better yet, watch the BBC Series: “The Wartime Farm” - it’s up on TH-cam.). Anyway…I do hope they are working on Season 3. We all need more of Clarkson’s Farm.

    You are such an inspiration, amazing and you inspired us to create our TH-cam channel with how incredibly natural and real you are. You really are opening peoples eyes!!! We went through a really tough patch last year, we lost our farmland and ended up renting a really rundown patch of land. Its nothing like what you have but creating the videos is spurring us on and keeping us going. One day, you never know but we might be in a position to have a farm again. We can only live in hope.

    Christ, can you imagine the car crash of a show the BBC would have made out of it. Diversity this, diversity that, box ticking here there and every bloody where....Lucky escape there Jezza. And like you said the episodes are totally unscripted and "Real". Real people undiluted from the crap we have as celebs living in their London bubbles, who haven't got a fucking clue what happens outside the corridor of the M25.
