Just bought this for $800! It feels so pleasant, practical and portable to carry around. I also feel like I didn’t waste my money (which is the best part)! Also, the Alacantara keyboard really does make all the difference in the laptop experience! So soft! 🤯

yes, I have a surface 2 and it plays it very well and I have yet to experience an issue. I even have 5 expansion packs and some moded content.

@@ahmedmudassir5740 I used mines for a couple weeks. The only thing that turns me off is that it's very hard to repair once it's broken. Other than that, the laptop is amazing. The keyboard feels great. The screen feels big enough, and the design itself is absolutely beautiful. You should buy one, haven't regretted mines.
Writing this off a SL2, amazing machine. The screen height is basically that of a 15 inch laptop, which makes me not miss my former 15.6 screen laptop when it comes to productivity. Video playback will give you some black bars, but a lot of the competition has huge bezels to begin with, so I'm not really minding them. The trackpad and keyboard are absolutely amazing, best that I've used ever, which makes this the best productivity machine ever. I feel like I'm forcing myself to use the touchscreen, as the touchpad is extremely responsive and much more convenient. Since I've never used type C connectivity and don't think I will anytime soon, buying this was a no brainer for me. Highly recommend it.

You are wrong. You can get a gaming pc for as low as $500. Gaming computers $600-900 are really good too. My computer is $900 and I can get like 150 FPS rainbow six siege ultra settings.

I must say I missed it, but it’s definitely cool being able to charge from both sides of the laptop. Since USB-C is on both side at least on the MacBook Pro 15.

Dont do it the key board is querty not butterfly so the buttons are not smooth to type over the cloth material gets dirty easy and it breaks easily ... Im typing on the second one I own and im highly considering switching to mac book air

My phone, my laptop, my computer, my tv, all my external storage, all have USB C ports and also several external gpu's and stuff like that. I think it is very important to have USB C ports, more important today then even USB A.

I would go for Surface 2 as a value point of view, base model ( i5 +128 SSD) available for $799 in microsoft physical store, while macbook air starts at $1149.

Thunderbolt 2 used the shape of the mini display port. I don't have any interest In buying a Surface Laptop so i don't actually know if it's thunderbolt 2 or just a mini display. Either way, both ports in this day and age is fucking useless.

@@coolmusik6171 Well my wife has this one in black and she has very sweaty hands, we bought it 6 month ago and it has hold pretty well... I have had the Surface Book for almost 3 years already and the magnesium finish is more easily scratched, however both devices are great. Also I am glad they are still keeping the magnetic port which is very useful having 2 Surfaces at home, taking only 1 charger when traveling, and the extra USB port in the adapter is very handy.
Things I wish our Surfaces had, USB-C, an extra USB-A port for the Surface Laptop 2, and an always-on USB port (my old Asus has this and it is a godsend (kinda like having a huge powerbank at your disposal).

i literally bought this exact version just so i have something portable i can travel with. No way in hell am I taking my 3k macbook pro with me to work or anywhere else for that matter. This computer is perfect for doing extra homework at work and taking with me when i travel.

@@danielee8418 yeah they now have the 6 core i7's and an i9 option, a 1050 Ti, the aluminium is a bit lighter and the logo is now a kind of mirror instead of black. I noticed my 1080p panel was a bit brighter than the 9560 and the fingerprint scanner is now in the power button (which doesn't have an LED anymore)

The keyboard for Surface devices will always be one of my favorites because the key travel isn’t too much (like the 2010 MacBook Pro) nor too little (literally all new Macs). The HP Chromebook 11 comes close because it’s pretty similar.

i have the surface pro 4 and im happy with it. $900 including the cover and pen. if macbook made a laptop with touch control and the apple pencil i would honestly consider it, but even without those features the macbook is still more expensive. imagining the jump in price to get those features, it most definitely would be better to go with microsoft.

1) it's a mini display port, not a thunderbolt port, which is a HUGE disadvantage.
2) at 5:13 you ask if we'd prefer the Surface Book 2 or the MacBook Air. The Surface Book 2 is a different product from Microsoft (where the screen detaches into a tablet) from the Surface Laptop 2.

B T really? But atleast they don't block installation of other OS. Beside Macbook air has some sort of chip that restricts repairs from 3rd party and with current practices of Apple restricting imports. I think Surface Book is a better choice if you want to keep it for a longer time.

The Surface Laptop series is nearly, if not impossible to repair without damaging it. It doesn’t even matter if 3rd party repairs are allowed on it because 3rd parties would struggle to repair it.

Got one today (before seeing this video), and I think it's a pretty good mid range laptop, especially compared to my previous one. I've liked it so far. Not perfect, but pretty good. In fact here's some comparisons to my previous laptop.
(New - Old)
Resolution: 2256x1504 - 1366x768
SSD: 236GB - 223GB
RAM: 8GB - 8GB
CPU: 1.6GHz, 8 cores (12.8GHz) - 2.5GHz, 4 Cores (10GHz)
Keyboard Light: Yes - No
Screen Angle Contrast: Good - Less Good
how do you feel about the trackpad? are you comfortable using it after 1 week usage and instead of using mouse when u're outside

I have the laptop1 and Im so happy with it its so handy and perfect to carry around the sound and the screen is amazing :D
