It's been said before, but Messi didn't just master the game of football as many other great players have in the past, he mastered the physics of football. He knew exactly how the ball would behave off his foot, how it would bounce, how it would roll, to a degree that is just uncanny. And on top of that, he knew exactly how every player around him would move and react even before they themselves knew. I've never seen any player put such ferocious spin on the ball with less visible effort. It's like he knew where to strike the ball down to the atom to get it to fly like that. Just unreal.

I am a man utd fan and Ronaldo fan who thought he was better until I watched both of them in la liga.
Messi's best year, 2012, he scored 91 goals. A lot of top teams did not score that much that year.
Ronaldo's best year, 2013, he scored 69 and he is a machine when it comes to goals.
What is more unbelievable was that he was giving the best assists, was the best dribbler and was able to score for 19 straight games, never done before.
He was also winning more trophies than anyone.

I remember many years ago, I was in an Internet Cafe with my friends playing CS and during a break I played a video with Messi at Barca. This was when he started at Barca and still a teenager 17-18. In the next minute a small crowd of ppl gathered to watch. Ever since he set foot on the pitch on the big stage, people just were mesmerized. Nobody ever witnessed such a fluidity. What Messi does during a match is art.
