After he retired Lee flew 747s for Luftanza. Later Lee was dying of lung cancer in Miami when he told his brother that Frances Gary Powers was shot down over Russia in front of his U-2 so abort the mission. His brother Lee told was on a ship going to fight the Japanese in the Aleutian Islands when a voice from heaven called Lester by name and said get your life jacket on and stand where I tell you when a ship came out of the darkness and cut his ship in two and Lester was thrown clear of the burning water. Lester's wife is 100 today.
