- The HDZero Nano 90 digital FPV camera brings some seriously interesting new developments to the fixed latency HDZero digital system. Not only can it perform right along side its bigger brothers at 720p HD, it can also switch into super low latency 540p 90fps modes that get images to your HDZero goggles in around 3 milliseconds. Along with the lowest latency in all of FPV, this camera adds a long awaited penetration mode capability just for funsies! Today we are going to find out if it is worth the hype, and if it actually does everything it says it can do.

They must not understand the meaning of freestyle.
You are free to fly however you want. It’s also why freestyle competitions are so few and far between because it’s completely subjective.

Would love to try HDZero one day but for now it’s DJI and analog for micros for me.

for some people, freestyle doesn't seem to be free, lol. How about them DJI micros tho? Have you ever tried any, because I have been thinking about seeing what it does lately...just have to get through this pile of other things first.
@@BaconNinjaFPV I don’t think I would mess with DJI micros. There’s just no way it will fly as good as analog and will cost twice as much. I’d rather build a nice analog micro that can lift a Runcam thumb pro or something so at least I get an HD recording.
Running a naked vista also just sounds like I’ll be burning money when it breaks.
There’s a reason you don’t see many BNF micros with a DJI option.
Honestly it’s the only thing that makes walksnail appealing to me.

I can't wait to try it out! The mode I flew in is about the same range/penetration as I am used to with HDZ, but that 540p 60fps mode is supposed to be something pretty special.
Another great video bacon! Did you notice the 90fps mode had better penetration/range compared to the micro v2?
Thank you! I would say it is about the same range/penetration as the usual 720p modes. Now when the 60fps version of that resolution gets enabled, it should make a pretty big difference!

Well, this explains things for me. 2 of my setups stopped working and I couldn't figure out why. Now I know. It's because I switched to the new 90 cameras but have yet to receive my new goggles. I ordered them last December and I may receive them early April? Anyway, nice to know the problem isn't with my VTXs.👍

You arent alone on that one. I have seen quite a few people on the HDZ facebook page with the same issue only to realize they have to wait for their goggles. Hopefully you get your soon and you can give those nano 90's a shot!
Good to know about the HDZero 90. I don't have the HDZero goggles, so I cannot try it out myself. :( I am very curious to something you said during this review and with your previous Walksnail review though. Do you have the 1.2Ghz Walksnail VTX or is your entire experience of Walksnail based entirely off of the 1S VTX? If you only have the 1S Walksnail then I don't think you are really giving it a fair evaluation of the entire platform because the quality difference from the 1.2Ghz to the 1S (350Hz) is substantial. Kinda the same concept as you using the 1watt Freestyle HDZero VTX for the review of this camera instead of the Whoop or Race V2 HDZero VTX. Like I said, I have both systems and really love them both as they each have their own place and are completely different experiences.... so its not like I'm a Walksnail fanboy or something... I would just hate for you to give up on your Walksnail system without fully trying out the 1.2Ghz VTX first (which I fly on 1Ghz and the latest firmware 29.xx) Just food for thought while you go pee painfully. As always, good content and keep fryin up the greasy bacon.
I fly the 1s walksnail at 200mw and it’s already way better than HDzero with breakup. I know the full size vtx will be loads better! I think what he was talking about here was the beginning of walksnail before they got the firmwares better and it was all a smearing mess
lol, always good to have something to think about while I struggle for that urinary relief :p But more seriously, yes I have flown the full size rig as well. I am giving it a bit more time and trying out some beta firmware before I make a call on keeping it around or not. The good news about all of it is everything that doesn't currently do it for me is fixable in software and in no way a limitation of the hardware, so I think it has the potential to be pretty darn great if the devs keep up their good work!

Picked up a couple of these, mainly because I wanted the 540p60. Advertising didn't say anything about the firmware not being out yet. This video is 4 months old now, and I still can't find anything on when it is supposed to release. I'd like to fully get away from dji lol
I just took a look at the beta firmware threads and don't see any mention of a completion timeline for that mode :( I know they are working on it though, and I know a lot of people are looking forward to it just like you are!

I hope your goggles show up on time! I know how terrible it has been for everyone having to sit around and wait on them, lol. The motors I am running are Xing 2008 1800KV with Ethix Rad Berry props. It is a pretty good combo, and with the way I fly the low end torque of a 2208 really does smooth out the snap direction changes.

Why are the front antenna ports on your goggles black? Is it an insert?

With the HDZ goggles, nano 90 camera, and ELRS 2.4GHz; what is the total input delay of the whole system from activating a command to seeing it happen on the screen? Has anyone done an LED test with a high speed camera to test this?
I havent seen anyone do it completely end to end like that and I think it would be pretty awesome to see!! I can say that the goggles plus the nano 90 have some good vids on latency by Ryan Quelett and the numbers he showed are a little lower than 3ms glass to glass. If you take that latency of 3ms, then consider ELRS is running at 250hz (for me at least) which would be a full cycle every 4ms, and then look at the filtering response on my quad which runs at about 1.5ms for gyro and 1.5ms for d term, then add all of those up it is around 10ms for the entire cycle. Now that would just be for the first bright pixel in the goggles and responding to that, but at 90hz with the nano 90 that should mean a full frame every 11ms so if you add that to the numbers it would look like 18ms per reflex cycle for each full frame sent. Not too shabby, but it would be better to see it tested directly for sure.

hmmmm, that is a great question! I suppose the hardware in those cameras "should" be able to do it, but then again I am not an expert on the chipset they use for them. Would be pretty cool to see it happen!
3ms is just the first pixel glass to glass latency. For the full frame, it's more like 17ms. Still, that's faster than many analog systems.
14:35 Hmm. No 16:9 mode? In that case I'm happy I got the Micro V2 instead. I prefer the bigger FOV in the goggles rather than the FOV of the camera image... Also, I think I just prefer the 16:9 aspect ratio - it's closer to what our vision actually is.
It's 16:9 for now and it's absolutely a big difference. I don't fly 60fps very often now I got the 90fps🤙🏻

yeah hopefully the production stabilizes over summer time. I know they are really cranking the goggles out at the moment, but are still in the window of filling back orders. we shall keep our fingers crossed!
Hey fly behind that building in the background…wait…never mind 😂Problem with these products from hdzero is lack of availability. I here the kiss ultra is fantastic blah blah blah!!!! Find me one to try… point being if your not ready to pull the trigger to make a purchase at the moment you get that notification on said item is back in stock you miss out within a day and your back waiting untold amount of time. This 90fps camera is still sitting in its box waiting for the goggles to arrive. 2 months and still waiting…
lol, I think we both know how flying behind that building goes on this system :p I agree that the stock thing is really really really frustrating with their stuff. I literally waited 6 weeks to get this nano 90 and never even got a shipping notification before it just showed up.
Ouch! I lucked out last week if you could even call it that regarding hdzero on the camera. It’s a bit discouraging on the goggles. Even good products fail when I comes to laggy production.

Im not a fan of analog breakup and I don't think id like HdZero. I love my DJI o3 and Vistas. One rooted with full power mod and osd, and the o3 Hacked to get full power and all channels, already getting osd on my Fcs. I get such good range, penetration and my latency almost always stays down around 22ms. Of course good antennas/placement but the image quality I cannot give up. The o3 is incredibly crisp. This hobby is too expensive for that anyways, another goggles vtx and cam. 😅 The HDzero dvr at least looks similar to my BDI adapter on my v2 goggles with rush tank solo and foxeer T-rex 1500TVL cam. I need my resolution. HdZ is making some bold moves lately though.
Analog breakup is why I got into digital to begin with. I can’t agree with bardwell on this one. Watch… bardwell will be flying 03’s exclusively within 6 months. He did the same thing when Dji was limited to 25mbs and when 50mbs became an option he made the same little girl screams.
Yeah for sure if you aren't a fan of the break up style and the resolution, a different system is right for you. The big reason I fly DJI at all, since breakup and resolution really don't bother me, is the range and penetration. I am really hoping the 540p 60fps mode helps that out, but it wont do anything for the resolution and I am sure that is important to you as well. At the end of the day, fly what you like and enjoy it as much as you can because everything in this hobby is about very personal choices and needs :) BTW, the T-rex is one heck of an analog cam!
I think it all depends on personal preference. You want to feel connected to the quad then go HDZero. If you want to see a pretty picture and don’t care how the quad feels then go DJI. I would prefer to see breakup compared to smearing and latency.

@@zuldanfpv4634 but smearing is a walksnail thing i think. dji especially with focus mode set on auto its generally good to go, or the sides of the screen start to get fuzzy and then you know your playing with fire.
What is penetration mode ?
It is the 540p 60fps mode, which allows the system to send less resolution over the same channel width and slow down a bit to increase the chance that the receiving side is able to get good data. It isn't quite available yet, but I will for sure have to test it once it is enabled!
