Thank you for this video. I am neither virtually DJ user nor looking to buy the mix tour pro but I do appreciate all of the great information you shared here. I’ve always thought about switching to virtual DJ, so now I know that if that ever comes to pass - mixtour pro with your hacks will make a solid backup device. Keep it up!
It’s like the DJ 2 Go that’s been working out with Hans and Franz. This looks really cool! Less to take and still having everything you need is always a plus in my book.
See that little arrow next to the pitch slider? This allows you to do a transition down mix. You can map that arrow to a button and when it’s clicked, you can transition down from say 130 BPM to 120 BPM seamlessly. Hit that button to transition down then go to effects to do a really cool sounding mix. Something you would normally need a 3rd arm to do. You would have to use sync to do this though
Been really wanting a standalone DJ controller but none of them are affordable for me.... (Sorry mixstream pro but you look a little too cheap) But! I have an iPad I never use. Really want this.., just leave it permanently hooked up to my iPad and it doesn't get anymore standalone than that ! The more I see of it, the more I'm convinced. Thanks for the video!
So I used Algoriddim DJAY 2008-2023 and I loved it. Then I started using Virtual DJ. I loved it too, but for some reason, its now choking my Mac, using double the RAM as DJAY and freezing/disconnecting my Rane Performer. So I'm back on DJAY and I feel like I'm back home...honestly...it looks beautiful, does everything I do in VDJ (Que is the same as side list), and of course, its on the phone and pads. Have you tried the crossfader effects? Sheeze its unbelieveable. If you haven't tried the crossfader effects...you have GOT to try it.
Some info, VirtualDJ has a rough equivalent of Cross Fader fusion called Mix FX for years now (it has a dedicated display on the Starter and Essential skins but is featured on other skins like Vanced GT and it is mappable to any button via vdjscript). I must admit though, it's not as sleek as Crossfader Fusion is on Djay by default though.
Thanks for the great review and insights! Can Mixtour Pro map functionality for four stems (Serato) or five stems (virtual DJ) or even be used with rekordbox (3 stems)?
I have the Prime Go and Prime 2- these were my go to controllers from 2020 till this year. I switched over to the Rev 5 because Denon was taking forever to integrate stems
This unit doesn't have the IO to connect anything it to...I guess you could use phase in HID mode but it's defeating the purpose of the mixer... You should look at the Akai AMX if you're looking for something with this form factor that you can hook up with decks
@@UONeal I should have clarified that I meant CDJs in HID mode, as they'd be connecting via USB directly into the PC rather than into the Mixtour. I hadn't considered that vinyl + DVS connects via RCA cables so yeah, nix that idea. I have an Akai AMX already, but this theoretically is like AMX on steroids, lol

You still would have done a better job with the Hercules Starlight with tempo up faders and small turn tables for easy mixing and blending and the wow factor is you can scratch with it. No brainer.
Great mapping Aaron 👍
your adjustments made it even better.

This is so refreshing. I thought I was the only one who wanted a tiny controller for serious gigs with VDJ. I feel validated watching this.
@@DJPeterLo I love it
I dj ed at many weddings with a reloop contour interface edition over 15 years ago… had custom mappings on traktor and everything was like a charm 😉

SUBSCRIBED! Super helpful mapping and one of the most positive and honest reviews I've watched yet.

Hi Aaron, love your videos.
I'm not sure if I missed it but could you explain how to map the gain knobs to control the pitch/bpm?
Thanks!
Hi I figured it out select gain and type pitch 'dual' in the mapping
Should I convert!!?? Should I ? Should I??? Seems great!
Excellent
Great... now I want one. Damn you.

NAAAAAAAAAAAAA, I'll stick with my gigantic size Denon Prime 4+

YOU turn up to a checky little after party. This is in your man bag ready to go.
Moments later the kitchen is rocking.
Thanks for your review Aaron, i use the rev 5 also for my weddings. I’m curious, have you tried this controller at a wedding? 😃
@@JorgeGalik yep- used this one for an entire wedding. Worked great!

You would’ve done a better job Aaron with the Hercules starlight mini controller has up faders and has small jog wheels
Yeah those mappings was good. Next time show us how to use the 4 channel option
I don’t mess with a good thing Dj pro is the best
Can you map this controller to Traktor Pro? There's no midi spec online for the controller!
Hey Aaron,
What are your thoughts on Stand Alone Controllers Like the Dennon Prime 4+ (and similar units) Why haven't you made the leap
I have the Prime Go and Prime 2- these were my go to controllers from 2020 till this year. I switched over to the Rev 5 because Denon was taking forever to integrate stems
Awesome - I imagine ir works with IOS too?
@@Nogi-aka-DJNugz oh yeah
How do you map gain knobs to pitch fade you didn't show how
What about sampler volume? And how else can you cue without having to give up your gain nobs? I also use VDJ
It it possible to change the color of Play button (to green) and Cue (to red)?
Seems perfect but then I realize the lack of jog wheels and easy tempo control and I'm second guessing it
Would you happen to have a couple of decks (CDJs, vinyl + dvs, etc) to try pairing up with this to use as a compact mixer in VDJ?

This kind of controller is not for me... glad to see u enjoying ur time with it tho.
Will this controller be your main now?
I don't think so- Rev 5 is still my guy- but I will look for reasons to DJ with it
Where’s the pitch fader?
Doesn't have it- but I do show my hack in the video
Do you still own the denon prime 2
I own it- but haven't used it since I got the Rev 5
@AaronStrawn i need one to try out engine lighting let me know if you willing to let it go.
