this reminds me of how i midi mapped all these extra functions into my ddj-400 (like key sync, quantize toggle etc). so since i midi mapped so many new features, i just had to remember how to access them, like SHIFT + LOOP IN = toggle quantize. when i got a better controller, all these things had dedicated and labeled buttons of their own which made things so much easier. so all the layering on the mixtour makes it feel like a step backwards for me
I'm sure your better controller was way bigger than the DDJ-400. This is a trade-off: Small, portable but still allowing hardware control of many functions if you want to use them.
I appreciate Reloop giving thought to the fact that there is a demand for portability in the day and age of the spaceshipsize controllers. They did it already with the Buddy/Ready. Second thought…of course you have to think about for what kind of DJ this was designed for and are you one if these DJs? It makes no sense to rant about not having proper 4 channels if there are plenty if DJs out there who are just fine with 2 channels. I have my Mixtr Pro for 2 weeks now and gotta admit that the „thinking outside the box“ in other words all these mutli layered Features are actually the fun part of this device. Last thought…if you already have a controller Like the Buddy or Ready or even the old Mixtour you can use the Mxtr Pro as an add on and still make a ultra compact but much more powerful set up.
@@andytaylor125 that's actually the main reason I bought it. I've mapped stems EQ on serato to my mixtour pro on all 4 channels. Now I can do stems EQ with my S11 and tables!
It's ideal for what I have in mind for Private functions. It would take some practice to uss all 4 decks and I can easily see this being my full time controller with a Reloop buddy as a backup.
If Denon slapped a screen on this form factor and had Engine onboard making it a micro standalone without a phone or tablet, I could see myself getting one LOL

Thanks for the video. First one that in a nice format shows almost all the functions. This controller is ultra portable but complex with all the modifiers giving buttons multiple functions. Most of the comments I read that are critical mention the price being a bit to high and the lack of 4 channel faders a disappointment. Maybe they will come with a Reloop Mix4 Pro that's based on this unit but with 4 channel faders and some extra button/knobs reducing the complexity of use..
you are right! for 4 decks controls that can become a challenge in some critical live situations! but maybe if someone have a very good memory skills, certainly they will enjoy that the device very compact and dj travel friendly! for me the best setup is using the A&H K2 and i can map everything as i like. there is even a built-in soundcard
Really interesting device and great review. I’m with the general feel that if it was a little less costly it would be a no brainier. Maybe there will be a price drop soon if it doesn’t take off as Reloop hope.
Accolades to Laidback Luke for having the balls to take on the industry and use Algoriddim,, I have been a Dj Pro user forever now, It was my first stepping stone with my transition from Vinyl to digital starting off with the Numark iDj Pro which I then moved onto the Rane one, picked up a Reloop Buddy and recently got a Denon Prime Go and that’s a perfect portable kit to be married up to an IPad with Dj Pro.. The Mixtour is very compact but probably too compact for my muscle memory skills, way too many layering skills for me although I have heavily midi mapped all my devices. I really like the external power options it has but I think Reloop let itself down a tad by not integrating a slim iPhone/iPad holder like the Buddy has,,
Was so hyped for this gear. But in the end I removed my pre order. Why? Because I'm a Windows user, and algoriddims Windows version is so far behind iOS and Mac in terms of library and features that it is shameful. Not switching to a expensive mac or getting an iPhone just for the mixtour pro. They don't even support beatport offline locker on PC. Hope algoriddim give pc users love in the future.
Yeah. I bought mine and now thinking about returning it. I bought it to DJ from my phone (as advertised) but it turns out, it's only for Apple. Android app sucks and has noticeable loss in sound quality (codecs I assume). Windows is much better, but when I connected my friend's Apple I noticed way more options. So it's basically just for Apple with some usability on other platforms. But really, not to kid yourself. It' an Apple product, really.

@@stevied2710 I decided to avoid all this and simply buy iPad Mini as my first Apple device. I know it's another 500 bucks so it's total 1000, and you can get better options for that, but not for me. I used to DJ on vinyl and later on all DJ software. Now I just want something small, quality, and portable. Plus, I can use iPad for other stuff as well. So it's all depends on preference. Sound card used in Mixtour Pro is on same level as in flagship Pioneer (same chip). That is important to me. Headphones are loud, crisp, main is the same. So there is quality power sound there. Just not on Android. The device is small and portable, so I can take it with me anywhere and not to worry if I should take my DJ gear with me. iPhone would be perfect for it, but I do not want to switch and deal with al this headache. So I decided to start with iPad Mini and see how it goes. If I do not like it, then I can always sell it or use it for other stuff a t home. If I like it, then I will get an iPhone, and I am already planning to get a Mac at some stage for music production. So, for me it will work. Even with extra cost for iPad mini. I am at the stage of life where I care only about reliability, and I can afford it. I am tired of constant issues with Windows and carrying a laptop around. So weirdly enough, DJing and DJ app will be my way to the dark side. Who knew...
That's cool, but hasn't yet reached the feature set of my Akai AMX like Innofader, Phono preamps with Serato Certified DVS support. It is maybe time for Akai to release an AMX mk2 or Pro with more controls, USB-C; why not a Mic in and more output headroom. For the reminder, the AMX was about $250-300 when it was released.

I think that they are aiming this at those that might want to use djay but alongside another setup and going into a mixer. I’ve been using djay for a while now using a buddy and a Mixon 8 pro. The thing is, if i go to a gig that use industry standard setup I am pushed into using the cdjs, because my Mixon 8 is too big to fit in a booth with other equipment and the buddy is just too basic and doesn’t sound too good, and so i have to keep my rekordbox library and flash drive updated. Its all a bit too much and so i really wanted this device to be better, but I think the price is what puts me off the most and the layering

Laidback Luke mentions that he connects his Mixtour Pro to a DJM I am thinking to go audio out to an external usb soundcard like a Redial 32/96. Any ideas???
4 channels yes, is an overkill. Pads have so many functions and switching going on that I'd be using the hotcues only and that's the reality. Even then the pads are shared between two channels so... this thing is asking to have a separate pad-pad or something whitch probably couldn't be connected. How do you beat-jump? Can't imagine it's missing.
The requirements are different. And no manufacturer can fulfill all the wishes of all DJs equally. In this case, it is quite easy to adapt the mapping to your preferences.
Love that multiple grown adults complaining about how they don’t like layers or no decks…. That’s your personal preference/work flow. It’s not that complicated to understand but if you can’t handle it just move on
This is something I would use on my desktop for preping a set... but to use it in a gig, I just do not see the point. And the cost, for what would just be a desk toy for the most part for me just does not make sense

One button ‘in-out-exit’ is complicated? Or ‘shift+button=4 beat loop’ - looks plenty of complicated features on this thing, but looping isn’t one of them to me.
I was soooo hoping this was going to be amazing, but I don't think I can get past so many functions being on modifiers. I'm totally cool with the lack of jog wheels (Not necessary with DJay's beat gridding), but the next iteration of this needs to be buddy/ready size with more dedicated controls & balanced output.
That’s why I’m confused as to why they didn’t have 4 dedicated channels. This is a pain activating the different buttons to get from one channel to another
It runs on Android but app is behind Apple and what is weird, sound quality is mediocre compared when you connect it to Windows (no Apple here). I assume from Apple phone sound quality is the same but from Android is a tin can sound. FOr some it's maybe enough, but for me, it's too poor to DJ live. So I have to bring my Laptop anyway. Which was the whole point of ditching it.
Native Instruments should just package the X1 MK3, Z1 and Traktor Pro 4 for £499.99 to compete directly with this. It's currently £572 total. I've got a Mixtour Pro on pre order but I am put off by the cheapness of the build. Those FX paddles look awful quality, surely only a matter of time before the plastic fails. But in saying all that it's a great compact controller for Djay Pro..... Hmmmm, decisions decisions.
You’re not the only one, the unit and the effect paddles feel cheap (apparently from other videos). This unit should strictly be for beginners and that’s it

The workflow is different, so what you write is correct. And that's why I don't necessarily think this controller is suitable as a backup. You don't use a backup regularly, and if you ever need it, you should be able to work with it straight away without having to get used to it again.
It is pricey but I guess if people want to use it with Apple Music subscription it probably pays for itself overtime as you never have to buy music ever again, which is also a bit of a shame…
Too small, too gimmicky, too much Shift, not any serious artist minus Luke (‘sponsored‘ by Reloop) uses it. Should have stayed with proper SC6000 decks.
Price point is way too high, I would probably buy if that would be max 200 , just something to play with on the way home on a train , but for 400 gbp, its a no . And I need my Pitch fader on my dj units :)
IMHO, overcomplicated thing. So many adfitional controls hidden under modifiers. I dunno, really, if there was screens under the buttons, maybe, it would be easier to use. At the other hand, mixtour(not pro) is very powerful controller
You keep saying that you don't suggest as a backup controller because of the workflow but I don't understand why... It doesn't seem any different or more difficult than any other piece of gear of its size. It looks to like it would be a perfect back up mixer.
TBH this controller is pretty disappointing. The controller is great for what it is in 2 decks only. I personally have a really hard time navigating 4 decks and Algoriddim’s 4 deck mode lacks a lot of essential information from hardware mode. It’s unusable in 4 decks. The biggest problem with the stem switch is that it messes the original positions of EQs. So a big letdown.😂
Yep. I am disappointed too after buying it. It's not polished yet. Perhaps with updates, as most problems are with software, really not the hardware. SO I hope it's enough to wait. And it's too expensive. It should cost 400 max.
About as pro as a citronic belt drive turntable. Fun for home use…maybe, but I think we can all agree no top clubs will ever have this or allow a dj to use it. If youre Laidback Luke, your rider, fan base and social media profile will ensure any promoter gives you carte blanche to play a ukulele set if you wanted.
Why not? Sound quality is what makes it pro or not. You always plug this into the mixer of the club. People complaining it has no balanced out don’t understand the use case.
@@Elcee333 I think ‘Pro’ anything is a marketing gimmick in this case. Pro refers to it accessing all features of the software, even if theyre buried under endless shift settings. Your point about sound doesnt make sense, its designed to play digital files, 1’s and 0’s there is only sound or no sound, the quality is determined by the file type, WAV, MP3 etc. And plugging a mixer/soundcard into another mixer is just adding more steps to the signal chain with no good reason. I’m not knocking it, and not knocking Reloop, I love their kit and have used their turntables for over 15 years. But in this case its too expensive and seems like an LBL self promotion gimmick.
@@Fran-or3lt I love using the OG mixtour and I played all kinds of setups and usually in bigger venues. The mixtours soundcard isn’t that great, so I was hoping for a better sounding mixtour. Pro is better sound and pro use, bigger clubs and festivals where there’s a cdj/djm setup. A wedding dj needs balanced out, a club dj needs a small unit that can fit between the other stuff on stage, You can hear a difference in quality between a cdj and the mixtour, hopefully the mixtour pro has better sound. I love using djay pro on ios. The software is probably the best out there and using touch on effects has changed my way of playing. Using an iPad makes a kind of hybrid setup, you have a touch controller and a small controller for hotcues, loops, eq, etc. I prefer the Djay iPad Mixtour setup to using cdj’s or turntables.

Can't wait for mine to arrive. Love the form factor and features and upgraded sound card.
Thanks for the review.
I agree with your feeling about 4 decks.
Both volume buttons are hardware. So no midi control, so no show in the software.
this reminds me of how i midi mapped all these extra functions into my ddj-400 (like key sync, quantize toggle etc). so since i midi mapped so many new features, i just had to remember how to access them, like SHIFT + LOOP IN = toggle quantize. when i got a better controller, all these things had dedicated and labeled buttons of their own which made things so much easier. so all the layering on the mixtour makes it feel like a step backwards for me
I'm sure your better controller was way bigger than the DDJ-400.
Great idea about using this as an add-on for a larger controller to make it 4-channels
Yes! And maybe an option that allows you to connect a pair of LC6000 decks if you prefer jog wheels, pitch faders, etc.
@@JamesMincey NO.... you missed the entire point

Atomix have just added this to the latest EA release of VDJ so it works there too.
Then it makes more sense to get one 😊
Great news! I was wondering if and when VDJ support would come
DJ Signature device? I'd love a signature Pioneer RMX-1000 like device from pretty much any prog DJ - Sasha, Digweed, Warren, even Oakenfold. Anything to make the RMX into obtanium-level devices again.
Great video. "Cognitive Overload" is how I would describe me trying to mix four decks on this 2-channel device!
Too much layering and shifting my liking. Think I'll stick with my flx4 and DJay on the iPad. Portability is great on it tho.
have fun hauling that parking block around gig 2 gig
I love new technology and mad props to Luke! Great Video, Mo !
Also like to see this used with a pair of Stanton STX turntables with Phase DJ in HID mode
WHEN THEY MAKE A 4 CHANNEL I WILL SWITCH !!!!
you are right! for 4 decks controls that can become a challenge in some critical live situations! but maybe if someone have a very good memory skills, certainly they will enjoy that the device very compact and dj travel friendly! for me the best setup is using the A&H K2 and i can map everything as i like. there is even a built-in soundcard
Very useful review! 100% the hardware for me. Thanks
Really interesting device and great review. I’m with the general feel that if it was a little less costly it would be a no brainier. Maybe there will be a price drop soon if it doesn’t take off as Reloop hope.
This is best small unit right now. A lot upgraded from OG Mixtour.
Traktor Z1 should be upgrade to keep up.
That would wreck my head
Is it possible to use two mixtours pro for a four deck use in real time with 4 volume faders?
That’s something we don’t know yet.
i don't see why not. It can already do 4 channels so if you plug a second one in, you'd just keep on unit on channels 1/2 and the other on 3/4
Accolades to Laidback Luke for having the balls to take on the industry and use Algoriddim,,
I have been a Dj Pro user forever now, It was my first stepping stone with my transition from Vinyl to digital starting off with the Numark iDj Pro which I then moved onto the Rane one, picked up a Reloop Buddy and recently got a Denon Prime Go and that’s a perfect portable kit to be married up to an IPad with Dj Pro..
@@mikelo303 really sad, cause I really like djay pro. I hope they turn around or just trash pc and android and go full on Apple. Right now the djay on pc and Android is really a scam
Yes you right what you saying just give it a few months and check it out on a later date or you could always ask beforehand if you can test the unit with your phone, and tablet in the shop for a demo if that makes sense. Then test it on your windows in store or at home if it doesn't work with that explain to them and I'm sore that they give you full refund. DJ CITY mentioned in video it's definitely works for Apple and iPhone will work but he says (Android and Windows) what I don't believe for now until a update in the future for Reloop Mixtour Pro. The reason behind this I can't even download Djay Pro or the latest version of this software only old version what ever this is, so how can this possible to work with hardware. because I had the first generation Mixtour and I had problems with it on my Android phone version 12 not my Android tablet 10 what is older. Even the DJing shop couldn't find out why it works with old android versions, so I got a refund with in a time limit. Great device but I not seen anyone us it with Android or Windows PC!!
Who knew...
Great review...Is there any beat jump mode or only you can do that with the shift+browser knob?
There are no dedicated buttons for this, but you can, for example, use one of the pad modes for this via a customized mapping.
That's cool, but hasn't yet reached the feature set of my Akai AMX like Innofader, Phono preamps with Serato Certified DVS support. It is maybe time for Akai to release an AMX mk2 or Pro with more controls, USB-C; why not a Mic in and more output headroom. For the reminder, the AMX was about $250-300 when it was released.
thats cool
Imagine being able to go to your gig with your entire setup with computer in a fanny pack. Some times you just want this kind of setup. With djay the AI,ect...
Yo........ It's wild... wtf......
I mean it seems nice, I would consider it if it would be cheaper to take on casual trips..... but at this price I fail to see who is the market for. Entry level have FLX4 for example, and portable DJ I would prefer mixstream pro go for many obvoius reasons and only 100 bucks more.
@@personal-development-strategy Just be sure not to use Android phone as it sounds worse than Apple. Weird but true. Android codecks sucks balls.
@@personal-development-strategyif you pack so many features into a small space that’s what you get a layered device. I always hate the contortion of pressing multiple keys at the same time. I prefer a shift key that latches.
I might be a minority but I feel like it needs a dedicated section or knobs for beatjump. I’ll probably remap something.
Do you need a payable version of djay pro to access full potential?
What do you have the RCAs connected to? A secondary mixer or directly to a monitor
Will this work with Serato or is this just for DJ pro?
No Beatjump/beatskip?
Are the pots metal or plastic?
Plastic, but they feel OK - EQ chrome big knobs feel like shit. I replaced all of them with rubber Chroma Caps DJTT. Much better. DJTT Fader caps do not fit, so I am using original ones.
good creativity of the mixer but it takes too much fiddling around to get different effects, cue points and especially the 4 decks mode. someone who is greatly cognitive can easily master it. but for me, its a bit too much. i like however how it is small and compact. I think they should make one with 4 channels.
Laidback Luke mentions that he connects his Mixtour Pro to a DJM I am thinking to go audio out to an external usb soundcard like a Redial 32/96. Any ideas???
Depends on the software you use. No problem with djay. Might become tricky with Traktor, that can handle 1 sound card only.
It’s not that complicated to understand but if you can’t handle it just move on
Beat jump buttons?
There are no dedicated buttons for this, but you can, for example, use one of the pad modes for this via a customized mapping.
@@chrisr.4739 thanks for direct answer. Had the same issue with numark: I just could not sacrifice pads for that.
This is something I would use on my desktop for preping a set... but to use it in a gig, I just do not see the point. And the cost, for what would just be a desk toy for the most part for me just does not make sense
It has a high quality interface. It's pro gear. Luke is literally playing festivals with this thing.
To prep look at the DJControl Starlight or similar form factor
I wish djay would bring there own device as an actual algorithm djay pro device not team with other any of the big players just own this not for me to small iv got yam fingers so I need a big unit something that says I M A DJ😆 otherwise pretty cool little unit if that’s your jam cheers mojaxx great review as per usual 🔥🔥
I want to see someone do a setup with 2 of these with a 2 channel mixer in between with 2 iPads or 2 laptops or 2 mac minis or nucs
Do you still have to subscribe to DJay to use the controller?
No it’s plug and play so it unlocks the pro version. I imagine that’s part of the reason for the higher cost.
@@andytaylor125 Yeah. They do not say that nowhere (some small print somewhere). When I connected the app, it asked me to buy one. So I did. Turns out it was pointless. No refunds.
The features that can also be controlled with the controller are unlocked. And that includes Neural Mix, for example. Nevertheless, some of the features you get with a real subscription are missing, especially many effects.
Yep if the full version came with the Mt Pro the price would make more sense
Is there a reason why the release has been delayed? You seem to have been the only person, other than laidback Luke to have posted anything on it.
how do you compare it to the xone k2? I think in the end it is still unmatched functionality
XOne K2 has slightly better build quality but way, way worse sound card. I sold my K2 to get this one and it's ok. What is a bummer is the software, really.
@@mikelo303 I'm a Traktor user and I'm divided between buying a second k2 for my mobile setup or tryin out the mixtour and algoriddim. in witch way you say that the sound card is so worst?
Excelent Toy for mobile Djs !!
Which Reloop device unlocks DJay Pro and is technically best for DJay Pro
I like it.
X1 comes with traktor pro 3 also
X1 Mk3 comes Traktor Pro 4 now that's it's released.
The looping function is so convoluted compared to the X1 - ruins the whole thing
One button ‘in-out-exit’ is complicated? Or ‘shift+button=4 beat loop’ - looks plenty of complicated features on this thing, but looping isn’t one of them to me.
It depends on what you are used too.
If the guys from Reloop are reading this, I think a ‘Reloop Ready Pro’ would be an amazing product - build quality of this, form factor of the Ready.
@@andytaylor125A Ready Pro would be amazing!
Use this in a live setting in 4 deck mode and you will have quite an ...ehm... adventurous night
That’s why I’m confused as to why they didn’t have 4 dedicated channels. This is a pain activating the different buttons to get from one channel to another
Stems?
It's very nice...but no way in hell I'd pay $500 for it.
Considerably more convoluted learning than other ‘new’ units. Seems fun though, don’t get me wrong, just not for me
Someone tell me if this supports virtual dj!
$300 maybe $500 nope. 🤷🏾♂️
Does it run or android or is it IOS only?
Quality is there. I had all controllers and Relopp does good quality. Software is what bothers me. It only works best on Apple.
You’re not the only one, the unit and the effect paddles feel cheap (apparently from other videos). This unit should strictly be for beginners and that’s it
The more I see of this the more I'm convinced its just too expensive,
Also the lack of any decent reviews and stock unavailability, is not a good sign...
Will likely wait for a price drop and some more long term user reviews before considering

Why two sets of auto loops?
This looks like a good option as a backup and it's a good fit for the iPad, but you will need to learn to have a completely different workflow...
It is a desk toy or a Houseparty tool. I will try it live in small venue but is way too cramped for live energetic mixing.
The workflow is different, so what you write is correct. And that's why I don't necessarily think this controller is suitable as a backup. You don't use a backup regularly, and if you ever need it, you should be able to work with it straight away without having to get used to it again.
@@chrisr.4739 Good Point!!!
Time for Traktor to release an upgraded Z1 to beat this.
Cool🎉
What about stems?
You can map stems to basically any midi controller
Did you watch the video? Stems are implemented in the eq knobs AND/OR the pad mode. It‘s called neural mix in djay pro.
It is pricey but I guess if people want to use it with Apple Music subscription it probably pays for itself overtime as you never have to buy music ever again, which is also a bit of a shame…
That’s a nice looking unit. Not for me. I would get a Ready for something like that. But good luck to everyone who uses it
Trust LazyLuke to instigate more sync djs
Too small, too gimmicky, too much Shift, not any serious artist minus Luke (‘sponsored‘ by Reloop) uses it. Should have stayed with proper SC6000 decks.
A shame he left Denon for this Playmobil device.
Price point is way too high, I would probably buy if that would be max 200 , just something to play with on the way home on a train , but for 400 gbp, its a no . And I need my Pitch fader on my dj units :)
The price seems to reflect a markup for Luke. For $300 it’s good, no more.
To much messing around for me I think I will give it a miss
IMHO, overcomplicated thing. So many adfitional controls hidden under modifiers. I dunno, really, if there was screens under the buttons, maybe, it would be easier to use. At the other hand, mixtour(not pro) is very powerful controller
DI box mate.
Nice but $500???
You keep saying that you don't suggest as a backup controller because of the workflow but I don't understand why... It doesn't seem any different or more difficult than any other piece of gear of its size.
It looks to like it would be a perfect back up mixer.
👏👏👏👏👏
This thing is the biggest marketing stunt ever. I’m wondering how much they’ve payed laidback luke.
The subtle gag that you're using word hold on demonstrating effects toggle "hold" and "on"😂
Luke appropriated NI design and functionality - unoriginal but that’s what the mainstream responds to …
$500 is way too much to have to hit shift so much 😂 I'd rather it be few cm bigger and have more dedicated buttons.
No SD slot, no dedicated 4 channels, forced to use an IOS app, and cheap build quality. This is strictly for the novice and that’s it.
It works with Mac, Serato, and all the other laptop software. Build quality is not cheap. Nifty device for a pro DJ like me.
You don't know what your talking about !
Great peace of harware!!!!!!
Shame. NO!!! Decks conectividy. It would be a nice AMX REPLACE REPLACEMENT.!!!WHAT THEY WERE THINKING!! WHEN IT WAS DESIGNATED.
500 bucks for looping to become a two button, potentially two hand job.
That's NEVER going to catch on.
A bit to expensive for me
