    The Queen being drawn younger but voiced older just gives off a real power in the performance. Maleficent had the same effect.

    Given Lucille's masterful performances in the film, I'd imagine their Lady Macbeth was chilling.

    "Au contraire", Lucille La Verne has a suprisingly young voice for the Evil Queen. Sounds to me she caught that essence of Her Majesty's persona. Besides, let's not forget the era and the dominating style. What's now maybe considered mature was once considered sexy and seducing. Eleanor Audley's delivery of Maleficent is a great example. So far I've heard nobody captured that mastery in her voice other than herself. As I always say, it's all in the character. Only character actors have that quality - and that only do the best and brightest - hard to find, these days. Must be in the era 😘

    By far, the most menacing villain. Evil Queen or Hag... she is both authoritative and terrifying.

    Your denture-less voice sounded a little like Grumpy and much like the beaver from Lady and the Tramp! 7:14 Also I literally thought that there were two voice actresses for the Evil Queen. I’m so surprised, she’s done amazing!!!

    🎹 I purchased Lucille LaVern's autograph
    Some years ago and I cherish it. In voicing the Evil Queen and the Old Hag she created the most notorious villain in film history.

    The Depth and the immense Talent of how these women conveyed these roles. It stems from a time when theatre forced you to truly find objective and go within. Sadly these actresses ( besides Kate Blanchette) are very very few. Acting is done from an idealistic superficial place..
    The evil queen is fantastic

    Lucille LaVerne was the ULTIMATE Disney Villainess, and most assuredly THE QUEEN of all villains to follow. Even when she cackles, it sounds SO VERY NATURAL AND ORGANIC - not like Pat Carroll and Melissa McCarthy's artificially induced, over-the-top cackling as Ursula. You actually feel like this is a REAL Witch here in Snow White, versus a mere cartoon character.....thanks to Lucille LaVerne.
    I also don't think her voice as the Queen specifically sounded too mature considering that the character is probably around 45 at this point in the story.

    • @BadGuyRants
      @BadGuyRants 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The Queen is a richer character than any of the villains to come after. Pat Carroll did the best she could with Ursula and gave it her all.

    6:05 This is where the animation of The Queen (voiced so sexily by Lucille LaVerne) by Art Babbitt shines through. 6:29 Joe Grant's take on The Wicked Witch (in a sequence directed by John Lounsberry) is no exception to the proceedings.

    Lucille LaVerne also had a part in a 1930 talkie called "Sinners Holiday" th-cam.com/video/tJPyeEEcn1U/w-d-xo.html (set in a daily amusement pier), in a scene where she scorns James Cagney (playing her son Harry DeLano, a naive and fragile gangster) for being clueless to a murder he committed but he finally confesses everything to his mother.
