Imagine waking up to an inbox full of life threatening messages each day. Unfortunately for Dave Kroupa, by the winter of 2012 this had become his reality. Within weeks of hopping onto an online dating site, he’d become the target of one of the most deranged stalkers to ever walk the planet. And these messages? They were just warm up exercises for the real hell that what was to come. You see, Dave’s stalker was not just obsessed with him, she’d already killed for him - and had plans to kill again.

What's terrifying is that she set fire to her own house with the children there, and killed their pets as well. She ruined the lives of many because of her dangerous jealousy and insanity. RIP Cari.

A co-worker in the 90s would call me and tell me about her obscene caller. She had a male roommate, who was making the creepy calls. As soon as my co-worker got a call, she would go to him upset and crying. He would console her by hugging her and listening to her, all along knowing that he was causing her distress and was in love with her, but my co-worker had refused his advances. It really is. I feel sorry for that detective. No matter how well he/she does their job, no matter how much they care about the victims, there’s no way they can do a thorough job when they’re only ONE person to 90 something cases. And because they don’t prioritize stalking as a more serious case to where they have more than one employee working on these cases, this very well could’ve ended w more ppl hurt/killed. Specifically Dave’s ex Amie and their children. Cuz it sure looked like that’s where this was heading b4 she was caught.

Unfortunately, you can't just confiscate everybody's phone who's involved. I'm fairly certain you need some type of circumstantial evidence to get a judge to sign off on a warrant. If it were a murder case right off the bat, maybe this would've played out a bit different but it didn't. If the police "did nothing", Liz would still be terrorizing the family.

The investigators failed for over 3 years. No one thought to check GPS pings on 'Carys' phone? No one investigated at all or took it seriously. And Dave never once thought to setup cameras outside his house after dozens of times his car/house was vandalized? Failure all around.

  • @crpman9401

    Spoiler*
It was the beginning for me. When Liz rang the doorbell right after Dave and Cari got to his apartment. She had to have been watching it. Who knows how many times or how long she stalked him. Then, when Amy was being blamed instead of Cari, it confirmed that it wasn’t either one of them, but Liz was impersonating them. This psychotic woman, Liz, orchestrated this whole scenario and planned on being the only woman in Dave’s life since they met. I would go as far as to say she wanted to get rid of his ex-wife first with this plot, but ran into Cari instead. Truly deranged and blood thirsty. That’s how I would describe Liz. I feel so bad for Dave, Cari, and their friends and family.

In person however, its different. Its easier to pick up a vibe that something is off about them, and you know to not engage with them further. By the time you meet an online date, they might know way too much about you, and vise versa (or what they want you to THINK you know about them) to end things quite so easily. You might begrudgingly give them the benefit of the doubt, since you both already put the time in. I will tell you guys, a stalker is the most uncomfortable, horrifying ordeal a person can go through. I had one of my own and it was pure insanity. Panic attacks followed days of tormenting calls and texts that just would NOT stop. No matter what I did to diffuse the situation, it was never enough. They called my work repetitively. They called my friends. They changed profile pictures of them with guns, and even a bullet with my name carved in it. I found out that they had watched their ex wreck their car, I now know because they were in pursuit of that ex. That ex was killed in a car accident trying to get away from our shared stalker. In the wreck, the ex in question lost a hand and it was STOLEN from the scene by my stalker. This crazed stalker kept the hand at home and held it while they watched TV at night, cuddling it. They slept with the hand and was only discovered when the smell became too much for the dad who also lived there. They were arrested, did some time. But released early and continued the stalking with another friend of mine and then me. It was a total nightmare that I never would wish on anyone. There is something very terrifying about a stalker that can get to all of your contacts and cause so much chaos for you. It's an invasive, terrifying ordeal that you have to FIGHT to prove and get any kind of protection from. IF you have a stalker like these morons, PLEASE don't give up. I heard all the typical BS of "the police can't do anything, I've done nothing wrong." and "nothing is going to stop me, I won't stop until I've destroyed you." And they were right. There are more laws protecting THEM than us victims. But stay vigilant. Do NOT let them win. Call the police until you're annoying them and demand their attention to the matter before you end up like the ex in the crash I mentioned above. Do NOT give up, and keep fighting!

To my knowledge we don’t have any legal protections against severe emotional abuse, which we should. The laws for physical violence are inadequate too. The fact that it took the police so long to look into the source of the threats in this case is insane! It obviously wasn’t Cari, and they let it go on for years. You may be right that it wasn’t taken as seriously since the victim was a man. There are many many stories of stalkers who kill yet it’s seems like it’s not a police priority at all.

      @yahnservices1978 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Women are very likely to be believed ("believe all women") without evidence and men not believed even with evidence (like in the Depp vs Heard case). Society provides more for them (ressources, sympathy, trust...).
Men abuse is underreported for the reasons I have mentioned (massive societal stigma). So, yes, the real number for domestic abuse is around 50/50, not the number you mentioned.

A few things I'd like to say:
    -Thank you for this!
-Excellent story that evoked a lot of feelings - absolute horror, fascination and sorrow to name a few.
-This got me thinking. I'm a retired mental health social worker that worked with Level 1 clients both in child/adolescent and adults. Level 1's were the most intensive cases that involved multiple different agencies - CPS/APS, education, legal, prison, medical etc.
So, from a mental health stand point, I'm trying to figure out if there is a diagnosis or more that would encompass a person like Goylar.
I had 2 Rule 11's - guilty but "insane" - both men; sentenced to the Psychiatric facility at the state prison in Arizona.
One was schizophrenic and decapitated his adoptive father and 10 years later, was still planning on killing his adoptive mother and sister. However, he convinced the state prison psychiatrist that he was well enough to start going out into the community on weekends. I and my case manager stopped that.
The other stalked a news anchor woman and still perseverated on her.
So, you get a certain vibe with these people.
But Goylar.........She was pure evil. Not mentally ill, not mentally handicapped, but EVIL.
The planning, the execution of her plans....
This story made the hairs on my arms and back of my neck stand up.
I honestly think the Devil would be scared of her.

I cant even begin to speak of how many stalkers ive had over the years - some were male, some were female. some were in love with me, some wanted me dead. With the exception of one, every single person got away with it because the cops didnt see it happening in real time. My Mercedes was keyed, tires slashed, trash dumped on my doorstep, sticks and metal pins broken off inside the locks on my house, and death threats in my tip-jar on stage. Ive never slept with anyones boyfriend/husband/wife/girlfriend, or say or do anything to cause someone to retaliate. Sometimes people just get weirdly focused, and sometimes it turns dangerous.
