    This is your luxury preowned watch buyer’s guide! Each Saturday, Tim Mosso’s “Weekend Watches” curates a video gallery of premium timepieces from WatchBox, the world leader in luxury preowned watches. Today’s show features dive watches, tourbillon watches, and even a minute repeater while still offering affordable options for watch collectors on a budget. This is TH-cam’s only illustrated luxury watch collector’s companion!
    Today’s show opens with the spectacular 2015 Omega Seamaster 300 SPECTRE limited edition of 7,007 pieces. This 41mm stainless steel vintage-reissue dive watch references the original Omega Seamaster 300 CK2913 of 1957 while adding dial, clasp, and bezel changes that are unique to the James Bond-inspired limited edition. An Omega Master Co-Axial caliber 8400 provides chronometer-grade accuracy, 60 hours of power reserve, and sits ready for inspection below a sapphire display caseback. This special edition Omega Seamaster plays up the Agent 007 connection without spoiling the heritage-inflected style of the core Seamaster 300.
    Grand Seiko watches only appear once in today’s program, but Japan’s foremost watch brand makes the most of the opportunity. This 2019 Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGC229 is a 200-piece limited edition that celebrates both 20 years of Grand Seiko Spring Drive technology and 50 years of Japan’s legendary sports car, the Nissan GTR.
    A robust 46.4mm “Bayside Blue” ceramic and titanium case cradles a dial with a 24-hour second time zone, a chronograph, a power reserve indicator, and a date. The dial base is a coruscating silver-white with chiseled surfacing. A hotrod Grand Seiko caliber 9R96 provides three days of power reserve and an upgrade over the standard Spring Drive GMT chronograph; accuracy is 10 seconds per month rather than 15. For active lifestyles, 100-meter water resistance, dial lume, and automatic winding keep this Grand Seiko sports watch in the game.
    Audemars Piguet appears twice on today’s program, but neither watch is a Royal Oak. Instead, this episode focuses on the haute horlogerie dress watch complications that earned AP “holy trinity” status in the mid 20th century.
    First, there’s the AP Jules Audemars Quantieme Perpetuel, a 41mm rose gold perpetual calendar powered by the celebrated caliber 2120 automatic base movement. The crown jewel of this show is the AP Jules Audemars 10 Minute Repeater Tourbillon. At 39mm in grade five titanium, this minute repeater sings by chiming hours, tens of minutes after the hour, and minutes after the most recent multiple of ten minutes. A one-minute tourbillon regulator provides a commensurate feast for the eyes as the repeater chimes.

    My OMEGA SEAMASTER was a 60's era, solid gold one. It ran flawlessly even after years of storage in a safe deposit box. A brilliant piece! Always got inquiries and compliments on it whenever I wore it.

    Lange saxonia thin in rose gold and 37mm is the ultimate dress watch in my view, even more so than the calatrava 5196r

    Nice stable today Tim. Brightens up what is a snowy day here in the Old Pueblo. Those two APs were both enough to make me forget the Royal Oak, but the bargain looks like the ALS Saxonia Slim, hard to beat that much class at any price and speaking of class, the Moser Moon Phase caught my eye with that wonderfully discrete power indicator. Too bad Grand Seiko doesn't fit something like that to their spring drives instead of spoiling their dials with those warts they insist on putting on the front of all their spring drives as a power reserve indicator.
    Have a super sparkly day!

    Hey Tim, great show as usual. Can you tell us about the strap on that Journe Tourbillon Souverain? Is that Gator or Croc? I love the contrast between the back and the front, and whatever treatment gives it that color variation. And just BTW, what a freaking eye-popping watch! That gold dial is just incredible.

  • @rickjason215

    For a person like me, who is not an expert it seems Omega issues too many similar watches and I don’t know what is what. Rolex watches may not be mechanically as good as Omega, but even an idiot like me knows the different watches.

      @@rickjason215 why not? Bought used they there are some great values there.

    • @rickjason215
      @rickjason215 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bamksmith I agree there are great deals, some watches are possible purchases. I exaggerated. The high watchmaking like Journe is just too expensive. I want one in the worst way, but just don’t see how I get it done. That Moser is incredible. I think I would wear it with the movement showing. Also too expensive. If I’m spending more than 10 grand on a watch, I also need at least a 3 year warranty, hopefully 5 or more and a place to service it.

    • @Bamksmith
      @Bamksmith 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rickjason215 yeah they are very expensive. I think the only way I’d get there is to make smart purchases while building a small collection, then sell 2-3 watches for a dream Lange. To me that’s half the fun of the hobby. While I technically could, no way I could walk in and pay $65,000 for a watch. I do really admire those case backs and movements!

    • @rickjason215
      @rickjason215 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bamksmith We are in the same boat. I watch these Grey market guys and they have drawers full of these incredible watches. Obviously there are people out there, buying these watches, wearing them once or twice and dumping them to these dealers, taking a $20,000 to $30,000 hit. Nice to be rich.
      Off the subject, if you had a choice at retail, Sub with date or without date?
