I think that depending on the age of some bands, the shirt thing loses its problem. It'll become more of an icon for a time and mood, although there's already a complex about wearing shirts for that and their visual art value without being a stan for whatever artist/album. That one Metallica album shirt for example.
I’m in college right now and most music shirts I see are Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, etc… Even seen a handful of Beatles shirts. And obviously there are a lot of Nirvana shirts.
@@edveda2233 I think something similar happened to Chelsea Wolfe since she felt the need to publicly say she doesn't approve of Burzum's politics in spite of being inspired by his music.
The wearing a black metal shirt hit home for me...I used to wear a burzum shirt until one day I was walking to the store with the shirt on and some dude came at me with a huge stick swinging it back and forth yelling something at me.... I ran away.
If it makes you feel any better that guy was probably just having a mental episode and would have swung at you no matter what you were wearing, but I feel you. There is a lot of black metal that I love, that I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a shirt for lest I get mistaken for some flavor of white supremacist
The point of artists with great debuts but lackluster subsequent releases really speaks to the primacy of striving to continually hone one’s craft and reinvent one’s style. That sounds like a “no shit, bro...” statement, and it is, but it’s bizarre to me how some musicians’ creative vitality is dry by age 40 but others’ best works come at the end of their life. For example, Bach and Beethoven were writing immortal pieces after age 50 but most rock bands still performing at that age are resting on their laurels from 25 years ago. An apples-and-oranges comparison for something that is really a case-by-case basis (and obviously neither type of career is “better” than the other) but it is useful for artists to think about if they want to stay creative and have long, prolific careers 🤷🧐
Piss Warm Take- I really believe that Mindless Self Indulgence should be considered as Proto-Hyper Pop. Though I agree that sonically their sound is not exactly in the same vein of the likes of 100 Gecs Etc.. But they truly share the concept, and the general spirit, of making super melodic hook-heavy pop songs and then take it apart and bring it all to a wild and quirky extreme while blending as many genres as possible, which are generally the same genres Hyper Pop is blending today- Hip Hop, Metal and Heavy Electronic music. With all the recent talk and rising popularity of the genera I don't think I ever heard them being mentioned.
That first “hot take” is so annoying. When has Daft Punk ever been the group to put stuff out as a cash grab. You’re just saying words that don’t even take into account the group’s history or historical context
That is the stupidest point I've ever heard about Daft Punk. What about their track record would lead someone to believe that they might "only be making music for the money" at any point in their career??
Lets agree: Paak getting the well deserved mainstream recognition (outside of commercials using Come Down) is the best thing to happen to mainstream music since bling rap was reborn into trap
I feel like that last Bruno Mars record really set the stage for the Disco comeback we had for a bit. Even bands like Twenty One Pilots got in on it towards the end.
Anderson making that track with bruno mars and it getting super popular is bringing attention to the actual best teeth in the game. That's why melon is talking about it at the beginning
It's weird to say Daft Punk would fall into the deep end off becoming money hungry sharks if they didn't break up, considering they have only 5 albums in the span of their career, one of which is a soundtrack. And each album is a banger. So eh, I get where the tweeter is coming from, but for Daft Punk, nah.
In regards to that black metal segment, I mainly just burned (bad choice of words) Leviathan and Mayhem's debuts because second hand copies are hard to come by and expensive af in Leviathan's case.
Ever since the marilyn manson allegations come up I now pirate all his music and got rid of all the merch I had. I don't want to be seen as a supporter of him
Ofc we should be thankful that Daft Punk has given us such a great discography but it is a bit disappointing that they break up after 8 years since their last record.
Personally, I wear band shirts more as a way of saying "I like the music" rather than "I like the artist". I would wear a Mayhem shirt but I would never want to associate myself with the things they've done in the past

Can someone explain what he meant with the text "ask Anna von Hausswolff" in 5:35?
wondering the same thing
Same here. I don't understand her to be problematic.
some swedish press starting overreacting and made a big fuss about her wearing a burzum shirt back in 2013 .
@@edveda2233 THANK YOU!
@@edveda2233 I think something similar happened to Chelsea Wolfe since she felt the need to publicly say she doesn't approve of Burzum's politics in spite of being inspired by his music.
I still stand by it.
I don't think coming out as a neofascist is a "schmolding hawt take", Anthony
FINALLY someone brings up the TRON soundtrack
The wearing a black metal shirt hit home for me...I used to wear a burzum shirt until one day I was walking to the store with the shirt on and some dude came at me with a huge stick swinging it back and forth yelling something at me.... I ran away.
If it makes you feel any better that guy was probably just having a mental episode and would have swung at you no matter what you were wearing, but I feel you. There is a lot of black metal that I love, that I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a shirt for lest I get mistaken for some flavor of white supremacist
Lmao what
i remember when breaking bad ended with a really cool, creative, nostalgic, retrospective concept album RAM
Let's argue: anthony
No
Hi owl
@@thewiseowl8804 hi wise owl
yes
the 8 year wait also would have driven people's expectations so insanely high they would never be able to meet it
5:23 Anthony giving me trump vibes with the hands and the “you know what I mean”
That ending bit was god tier Melon.
Piss Warm Take-
I really believe that Mindless Self Indulgence should be considered as Proto-Hyper Pop.
He just paraphrased what Melon said in the video about the breakup and made it worse
That is the stupidest point I've ever heard about Daft Punk. What about their track record would lead someone to believe that they might "only be making music for the money" at any point in their career??
HE'S WEARING THE FUNKALICIOUS FLANNEL, YES DUDE!!!
Lets agree: Paak getting the well deserved mainstream recognition (outside of commercials using Come Down) is the best thing to happen to mainstream music since bling rap was reborn into trap
Let's agree:Cardiacs we're a great band and deserve to be more well known even if you aren't a massive fan of there work
Keep that chin up Melon!! Love your reviews!
Man this video seemed exhausting for you, some of these “takes” are so pointless and just poorly thought out lol
I feel like that last Bruno Mars record really set the stage for the Disco comeback we had for a bit. Even bands like Twenty One Pilots got in on it towards the end.
**WEARS SHIRT PRIVATELY**
Fantano wearing the funky shirt that he showed in previous video. What a great melon.
Let’s agree: this episode’s bassline was very fresh
"There's lots of shirts you can wear" got me good
That NF comment is hilarious
the bass line this episode was really cool
Let’s argue: there’s two of them and they’re not daft. Therefore the name daft punk makes zero sense
Before they were daft punk they did something and some reviewer said they were a pair of daft punk
New name: "Psychologically Stable Punks, Plural"

Anderson making that track with bruno mars and it getting super popular is bringing attention to the actual best teeth in the game. That's why melon is talking about it at the beginning
Let's Argue: There should be a Ska revival

@@beanstalks1028 My thoughts exactly. They've already proven they could do it
Daft punks tron soundtrack is so dope
It's weird to say Daft Punk would fall into the deep end off becoming money hungry sharks if they didn't break up, considering they have only 5 albums in the span of their career, one of which is a soundtrack. And each album is a banger. So eh, I get where the tweeter is coming from, but for Daft Punk, nah.
In regards to that black metal segment, I mainly just burned (bad choice of words) Leviathan and Mayhem's debuts because second hand copies are hard to come by and expensive af in Leviathan's case.
Anyone have the trackname for the song that plays during the pateron outro(8:57)? Please and thanks :)
The worst thing about them “breaking up” is no follow up to the Alive 06/07 tour. They’re sitting on easy money with that.
Lets agree: that first take is horrible.
idk why anyone would think Daft Punk would taint their discog and legacy just for money
We love you Anthony, don't you ever forget that ma boii!
Let's argue? Why.
Because.
You know why
HELL YEAH LET'S LOVE EACH OTHER
I love the Flannel Fontano. Keep up the awesome drip.
LET'S ARGUE: Daft Punk will reunite once more for Alive 2027
Ever since the marilyn manson allegations come up I now pirate all his music and got rid of all the merch I had. I don't want to be seen as a supporter of him
Ofc we should be thankful that Daft Punk has given us such a great discography but it is a bit disappointing that they break up after 8 years since their last record.
KG flows into LW perfectly, personally I think they are a double album in the same way the Powers That Be is with its two separate volumes
YO what was that outro music
Personally, I wear band shirts more as a way of saying "I like the music" rather than "I like the artist". I would wear a Mayhem shirt but I would never want to associate myself with the things they've done in the past
