- In today’s video we install the PRL Cobra intake! I had this intake ordered when PRL released the pre-order. This install was not very hard at all. It took me about 2 1/2hrs to install but that’s with me recording. If you all have any questions about this install please free to ask. I try my best to respond to every comment. Just installed mine an hour ago the sound quality doesn’t do its justice, it’s AMAZING I can’t stop driving around my city taking the long way . 110% worth it
Watched this video a couple times and had it knocked out in about an hour. Great sound, no codes (Street MAF), feels a little snappier. 2021 Civic Sports Wagon, NON SI. Removing the lower pan is the key, the bottom bolt for the OEM intake snorkel was the worst part. Great product, filter is well protected, no hydrolock worries. Thanks for the video. Pro tip: have all the clamps super loose so the silicone tubes can expand over the hard joints. On my 2021 the 4" silicone tube comes close to a radiator hose, make sure you clock the tube to accommodate for this.

Tip for Japanese cars.
Use Japanese Industrial Standard Screwdrivers. They are soft metal like the bolts they use in these cars. Less likely to strip.

That’s a lot of work . Super skeptical on CAI seeing how my old 06 civic Si took a nice sip from a freak puddle during a heavy thunderstorm. Looks decent I’d invest in some Tbolt clamps .

10:24 That second bolt that holds down that intake resonator. *&^% Read about it on the forum too. Would've been so much nicer if a hole was through the plastic to give you access to it.
Even after removing that bolt, there's removing the intake resonator too. Another *&^%! I just finished doing this before typing this. Good luck! Now to continue...and thanks for your video.

Check and see if the rear o2 sensor is turned off.
Just finished the install, and I gotta say this video was extremely helpful. As detailed as one person working and filming at the same time could be. Only problem I ran into was the silver 10mm bolt that holds the plastic trim to the black plastic under tray of the car. No idea why but it just doesn’t wanna thread into place. Can anyone out there help?

California has stupid emission laws. Almost all intakes out right now arent legal in CA. Some companies won't even sell or send to CA. Sucks :( I'm hoping this one by PRL is CA legal.

What was your boost psi stock before your cobra cai, charge pipe , intercooler install.
I have AEM Charge pipe and cobra cai with a sirimoto throttle spacer, sway bar, chassis brace and strout bar.. I started with 16 psi stock and now I hit 20psi no tuner yet. Thinking oil cooler next. I live in PA Poconos.

Does this mod benefit the performance of the car or the way the engine/air intake sounds? How did you get so mechanically inclined? Love your vids (even though I'm mostly clueless about some of them). Southern Boys Rule!
Indeed it does benefit the car. Colder air gets delivered to the turbo and the intake sound is amazing. Thanks for watching man!

hi, nice video. Just wondering one thing though. I usually have my friends help me installing stuff for my cars so I have 0 tools to do these work. What kind of tools like wrench does u need for this installation? I am getting my intake in a few days I just cant wait to get started.

Was going to put a CAI on my Si (2017 si sedan) and was wondering about if it’s close to the hex grill. If so, I was pondering the idea to pop some holes out just like on the horn side.....maybe some more. Just wondering if you’ve done that or heard of it. Thank man! Great vids!

Nice vid. The filter seems really close to the ground. How far off the ground is filter? I live in Florida and we get a lot of rain I use this car as my daily.
Chris Varona thanks for watching! The filter is actually pretty high of the ground also I don’t see how water could reach the filter unless you drop thru like 2ft of water. I was skeptical about hydrolock so I called PRL and they said also you would have to drive thru like 2ft of water before any damage would happen. I live in Alabama and we get lots of rain also. I’m not going to be afraid tho... you have the bottom and wheel well fender plastic protecting from water even touching the filter!

That’s a good question but i don’t think the filter will get wet at all...

After I installed the cobra inrake but decided to go with the AEM Charge pipe....My psi/100 is not responding like before,only when I apply my brake and one bar lights up. Did this happen to you after your install.

Are you talking about bars for brake pressure?
No, the psi boost. Where it shows the number +14 on your dash

What steps can you disregard for PRL’s short ram intake? Do you still have to remove the lower portion of the air box?

How about I just change to a PRL CAI intake and a AEM charge pipe today. Now every alarm know to man is going off from brakes to emissions anyone ever heard of this issue? I am in the process of a full power reset to see if that helps.
And let that be a lesson to disconnect the battery!

Is it the same procedure or steps as the sport hatchback? Other the clutch relocation bracket since mines a cvt
Unfortunate I don’t have the ability to jack up the car and remove the skid plate. I’ve taken out the two bolts for the lower box that PRL shows on their installation guide. Where the heck is the hidden bolts that are still holding it in? Can’t see em anywhere

No worries. I shoved my arm all the way under and was able to find them, including the bolt that Honda put in under the resonator box, facing the skid plate, with a 1 cm clearance. Shredded my hand trying (and failing) to get that one off, and eventually just grabbed the whole resonator and snapped it off the mount in a fit of rage.
Cobra CAI is now installed :)

A little late but yes it's the same lol. You just need to make sure you get the Non Si version if you have the regular 1.5T like me.

Quick question: did you notice any decrease in turbo spool response or low end power after your install? I feel like prior to my install, my turbo would spool easily at a light touch of the gas pedal and now, it feels like I've lost a ton of low end power and spool.

Hi hello every one I need help I only got 500 miles on my 10th gen si and I bought the cold air intake can I be able to install the intake even tho I’m still breaking in my engine
I would wait til the break in period is over but it should not really matter.

I just installed the intake. And after i drive it for a while, all the sensor goes on and the car feels heavy when drive it. Do you know what’s going on? And does it happened in comment?
What MAF did you get?
Im using the old one from factory. What did you have? And after I diagnosed it, a code comes out and says system too lean at the idle DTC. What is that mean??! 🤔

Nice vid! Dont forget to disconnect ur battery so ecu can relearn new intake. Its a 10mm on top. Ur dash should tell u to drive careful so system can initialize, drive for 2 min and itll go away. Also did u get a chance to straighten ur clamp before the maf? Its on a slight angle. Let us know how intake is after few days give us ur review! TTorres1183 injen has better instructions on how to remove resonator ha lol jk. Did you check out my vid yet? No actually im kind of old school with my intakes, i like the idea of using stock maf and i like the filter to sit behind the bumper especially since there is no circulation from the engine bay with the metal panel underneath. Itll get very warm in there in the summer. Another reason is it gives a nice clean look. Prl has great products but i like the simplistic looks on injen. You plan on doing any dyno with your boltons? Just did mine stock im not sure if u saw it.
