  • Thanks for checking out the video!
    Today, JP is installing the PRL Motorsports Cold Air Intake for the 10th Gen Honda Civic Si (2017-2020). We are amazed at the performance of the PRL Short Ram, so we are interested in what this Cobra Intake will do for Project FC3!

    That's a good argument thought about the CAI possibly not showing it's TRUE gains because it's not getting the same air it would on the street, never really seen anyone mention that when comparing short ram vs CAI

    I have 1 caveat to do another test. I cut holes in my driver side "grill" to mirror the passenger side. Would be interesting to see if there were additional gains

    Question, if i put this exact intake without a tune, it “should”increase in power just how your civic did right? Or did you tune it after installing the intake?

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you would pick up a little power from bolting on an intake. Make sure if you do that to get the "street" version, not the race. You would need a tune for the race MAF housing.

  • @Jyuaa
    @Jyuaa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey brotha hope your doing well! I had a question . I just got a turbo installed do you suggest a 4 bar map sensor

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually don't know what the factory sensor's range is. It must be at least a 3 bar since it reads up to the high 20 range on other cars running upgraded turbos. How much boost are you going to run?

    If I have a hondata +6 psi tune on my civic and I add the cold air intake will I need to retune ? Or no ?? Will I still see a increase in hp and tq ? Also I have the CVT transmission.. should I worry about tearing up my cvt ? I’m not racing it just like a little more power for little fun ??

    I live in canada where temperatures can get down to -40, does it make a difference which intake I get or would it be fine in the cold

    • @ValkenDnB
      @ValkenDnB 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure you'll be fine with your stock one. What this one would give you is better throttle response and flow in the higher RPM's. I don't think you'll get more of a benefit from temps since your temps should probably already be low due to your ambient temps but it doesn't hurt to have it.

  • @chrisnapho2000
    @chrisnapho2000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    While living in Colorado, would the prl cold air intake be good or bad? I know we have snow, slush, and rain. Would it be bad for the cold air intake? Would it be best to get a short ram? I been thinking about getting the 27won cold air intake. Since the filter is not so close to the ground so water doesn't get in.

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Valid concern, but with all the stock liners in the wheel wells, you really should be fine. It's more like driving through a small pond that gets you in trouble there

    • @ValkenDnB
      @ValkenDnB 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, but the short ram conversion kit for the rain season. Swap the cone to the top and leave the rest of the components bolted in during the rain. It’s $26 and gives you a leave of mind.

    I just put my Cobra CAI in on Monday. I live in South Florida and it's about to be rainy season. I obviously know to watch where I drive etc etc but any input if you guys think I should put the Short Ram conversion kit in just to be safe? Anyone have any experience using a CAI in a high rain state?

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't be concerned with just rain. But standing water could be a problem. That compartment is pretty well sealed as long as you haven't taken any of the panels out.

      I live in NJ where we get all types of weather and roads do flood when it gets bad. Long story short it was night and I drove through a street that was flooding while having the Prl cold air intake and being lowered on d2 lowering springs. Ended up getting water up into my engine through the intake.

    • @thinkforyourself5672
      @thinkforyourself5672 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hitmnan16, That was my exact fear bro. It's easy to say don't drive through deep water. Which I don't do but there are times down here where you just can't tell that a normal looking puddle is foot deep. And in the summer the rain floods everything. I changed the PRL out for the Mishimoto. I just wasn't comfortable worrying all the time.

    • @hitmnan16
      @hitmnan16 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thinkforyourself5672 That was back in 2018 it sucked .I put the car back to factory and went through my insurance took it to Honda and they pretty much gave me a new engine. Fast forward to today I'm also considering the mishimoto or Takeda intake. No more cold air intake for me lol.

    • @thinkforyourself5672
      @thinkforyourself5672 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hitmnan16, I don't blame you bro. The anxiety of waiting for honda to tell you if they're covering it when you took it in or you have to spend $4000 or $5000 out of pocket is something I don't want to go through lol. And I'm sure stripping the car back down wasn't fun lol. Either one of those intakes are a great choice. I checked out both in person and went with the Mishimoto because the build quality is fantastic. The 27Won was my other choice but it would have cost me almost $200 more and the designs are very very similar. I got a great deal on a new Mishimoto. That and an exhaust is all I have performance wise so far. I did an Oil catch can, Rear engine mount and the Acuity shift kit before anymore power related mods.
