There are plenty of keytop teardown videos out there, but for the first time, I found a video detailing the wide, small keys. It was very helpful, thank you!

Excellent - I knew I was in the right place since it was my 'L' key that had stopped working. I flipped off the key using your demonstrated technique, cleaned the key and blew out the mechanism below, replaced the key and it is now working fine - THANK YOU

I plan to watch this video several times to insure that I don't break anything underneath the keys. I have two that stopped functioning this week - the down arrow and the right arrow. Hopefully I can resolve the problem quick enough to avoid further issues. Your presentation seems to be clear an concise - thank you very much!

I just fixed a Satechi x3 slim keyboard following this guide. This aluminum keyboard fell off my hands resulting deformed upper corner that made my tilda and escape keys non functional. I removed both keys and I used a screw driver and a hammer, trying to correct the deformity. My efforts finally made both keys functional. Thanks!
Unfortunately, even though aluminum chassis is beautiful and feels premium, it is prone to deformities after any fall. First time I wished my expensive keyboard was made out of plastic.

had two keyboards go down on same Mac inside 3 weeks. not sticky keys might be the switches. problem KB 1: left shift key when pressed will not uppercase mid row of letters, on KB:2 same fault except its top and bottom row letters. apple online are stumped, took to storefront today and tried on store Mac and same problem exists so not Mac soft / hardware must be keyboard. any thoughts on fitting new shift switch or other tries before biting bullet.

Im setting up a home office. I want to incorporate my MBP but it has a cracked screen and $700 repair from evil apple. In order to use it in clamshell mode you need an external keyboard and mouse. I found this magic keyboard and a magic mouse in an old box at the family storage. Ordered some rechargeable EBL batteries from Amazon. The y key doesn't work. Wish I would have known that before ordering the batteries. The keyboard is very sticky, u can tell something was spilled and wiped up. Hoping this video and a good cleaning can bring m budget setup back to life.

I'm trying to unstick my spacebar. but after a full cleaning and replacement of the key, it still will not spring back up at the sides. it stays nearly completely compressed. What part of the key is supposed to be the spring? All I can identify is the center button as a spring, with what looks like two rubber knobs pointing down to the center of the scissor switches.

My almost new Apple Magic Keyboard generates the number 9 by itself. I've tried to remove the top, clean it and used alcohol on all of it even removing the insert and cleaning it but there's no visible obstruction.
Now when I type I still get the magical number 9 appearing at random everywhere I type. Except when you hit the actual 9 key. Then it does absolutely nothing. Thanks anyway for your effort to help people clean grimey keys/keyboad. Mine is haunted by John Lennon & Steve Jobs.

Just so you know, the High Speed footage Is Not helpful at all. Even if we slow playback to quarter speed it's no good. Just edit that stuff out next time, please.
Does Apple offer a tool for key cap removal? I don't collect toothpicks. I tried a plastic version and it didn't work well.
Can those little rubber switch nipples be moved/switched? I've somehow lost a few.

It's for flow of the video. No they don't have a tool unfortunately. No need to collect, just a new box will do fine. I have not done any experiments on the rubber caps unfortunately.
