      Other differences for the a6500 include a bigger grip, extra custom button, improved shutter life, new menu system, Slow & Quick mode, and a way better buffer.

      It wasn't a factor in my purchasing decision, but I've come to love the fast buffer for run and gun photography. Can shoot many frames before that buffer fills up

    Sidney.. I've watched this video as I'm backpacking through Southeast Asia and something as simple as setting the dials on 1 and 2 to shoot in 24fps and 120fps has saved me a ton of hassle, thank you!.... I hope all is well with you and keep making wonderful content!

    Just an FYI to EVERYONE! It's not recording at 100 megabytes a second or 60 megabytes a second. It's actually megabits. So you don't need to spend almost $100 on an SDCard. SD cards are labeled in mb/s (megabytes) while the videos are in mbps (megabits).

    Hey Sidney, I figured out the custom #2 shutter speed 1/125 issue. My other question is, I just got the SanDisk 64gb performance 170 MB/s read and 90 MB/s writing. You said only select the 100 MB if your SD card can handle it. The next step up in SanDisk for higher write speeds above 100 MB/s is UHS-class 2, but apparently the a6500 can only handle UHS class-1. Can I use the 4K 24p 100MB setting with this SD card or do I need a UHS 2? Thanks

    I'm not sure I understand Slow Motion settings. Does it FILM in slo-mo? Or does it film at normal speed and make your footage smooth and high quality when you slow it down in editing?

    • @SidneyDiongzon
      @SidneyDiongzon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are 2 types of slow motion on the a6500: (1) S&Q and (2) Normal Slow Motion. The S&Q automatically slows down footage where you can play it back in slow motion. For normal slow motion, you have to interpret the footage in post. Otherwise, it will look like normal looking footage on your timeline. Hope that makes sense?

    • @adirakessler235
      @adirakessler235 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SidneyDiongzon That helps significantly! So when I'm shooting an event that I plan to make into a promo (where I speed up and slow down shots) it will look buttery smooth.

      Thanks for watching! So you have to change your settings while you're in Movie mode (on the top dial you should be on the film icon). Then you can make those changes and save it to a custom button. Hope this helps!

      Yes, I did like this. I've checked once again. In video 12:15 it shows film sign + letter P on left upper corner, which means Program Auto. It's shows the same couple more times during the video.

    What do you recommend, if you want to have high dynamic range and colors. I don't want flat profile or dark cinematic style.
    Which modes do we put for that style of shooting.

    Any suggestions on PP for Sony that matches the iPhone (8 or X)? I'd like to find something similar to make quick, no trills videos with. Thanks.

      Yeah, I get that, but the iPhone has a good enough look and I was just curious to be able to make quick, social media videos with minimal post. Thanks though.

    Hey Sidney! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I bought this camera on eBay and followed your settings and when I bring it in to final cut x or avid the footage just does not look 4k. I can't explain it but it just looks bad even though it says its 4k. is there ls there something im missing when bringing it in??No idea.

    • @SidneyDiongzon
      @SidneyDiongzon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, as in the resolution looks bad? Hard to help if I can't see it. It could be the playback resolution in Final Cut is reduced to balance performance.

    • @SidneyDiongzon
      @SidneyDiongzon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really enjoy filming it right in camera. It saves a lot of time from coloring in post. At the same time, there are certain situations where I would shoot S-LOG3. It just depends on every individual's preference.

    Hi,
    Just bought a Sony a6500, i was previously having a Nikon d5100, it used to have a camera exposure meter while taking pictures. Couldn’t see it in a6500. How do i know my exposure is good in manual mode ? Am i missing on something.

    • @SidneyDiongzon

      Histogram moves around as i change f stops or shutter speed.

    • @SidneyDiongzon
      @SidneyDiongzon  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’d have to change it deep in the menu system, or assign a custom to access it faster

      Thanks for the guidance.

    Excellent video! Quick question, I cannot seem to keep a Picture Profile on either of the programmed sets. Even after saving the two modes, if I turn off the camera and turn it back on it seems to keep everything, but the Picture Profile is "off". I've reset and tried re-entering the settings countless times.... am I missing something...?

    • @SidneyDiongzon

    Great info. I'm in between GH5 and A6500. I use Canon for photography and want to get and learn filming for travel and vacation. I like AF on A6500, but more button for CF on GH5. I'd probably lean to A6500 due to AF as I mostly use it on Zhiyun Crane gimbal. Question - Do you use Face tracking when using the gimbal? I just don't like to idea of AF automatically choose the subject to focus for me. Thanks.

    • @SidneyDiongzon
      @SidneyDiongzon  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no way around that unfortunately. It's no big deal. Just press the menu button or shutter to quickly get out of it. Hopefully they'll be a firmware update to fix it!
