God told you how to be happy which happiness and success are 1 in the same. If you come across true Godly happiness in life which rarely no one ever comes across I’d say you are successful considering how narrow the path is.
Happy are the poor in spirit
Happy are those who mourn over sin.
      Happy are the meek.
Happy are those who thirst and hunger for righteousness.
      Happy are the merciful
Happy are the pure in heart
      Happy are the peacemakers.
Happy are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake.
Happy are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Who we let into and stay in our lives says more about us than them. Friends/support make ALL the difference in the world. Every true success had TONS of support at some point in their lives. Tiger woods, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett...all had families that prepared them and set them up. Either through money, time, skills, coaches, teachers etc. Nobody truly does it alone. For the rare anomaly that does do it that way they are 100% miserable! It's all a myth...that is lie that has been sold to you to make someone else money.

I came up with a saying years ago, regaurding success:
"Success is achieved when you know you've achieved it."
In other words, only you can decide what success is for you. For me, success is me having a job and being able to pay the bills and thats it, because thats what makes me the happiest I possibly can be. I feel zero need to achieve "greatness" in any sense, but if that is your definition of success, then do that! As long as your definition of success is healthy and maintainable.

I used to think that being successful was being rich and famous and making a huge impact in the world... until I managed to make a huge difference for a kid who was struggling at school, for a college student that failed her exam multiple times and who was pretty much on the verge of getting kicked out, for somebody who had just moved to America and who barely spoke English, to name a few. Knowing how they all succeeded and improved dramatically made me so happy that I've decided that, as long as my actions continued making an impact on somebody's life to make it better, I was successful, whether or not I made big bucks. The only reason why I want to be financially independant is so that I can reach even more living beings. I may not have billions or 8 gold medals, but I'm rich in accomplishments already. :)

Not to mention the importance of focusing on creating a loving family to share your life with. That does more for the soul in attaining success than goal setting ambitions alone.

I agree, but have a caveat.
I was a success by virtually everyone’s standards, including my own. Now that I’m older (currently I’m 64), I’m not so sure.
When I reflect back on my life, it is a bit like looking at an empty bottle of wine. No matter how much you enjoyed the wine, when the bottle is empty, the party is over. Same with life. Thinking about all the good things I’ve done and knowing I can never do them again is sad.
To be sure, being a success is much better than being a failure, so you should go for it. Just be aware that “being a success” is not a cure all for aging….

    I'm the brother who succeeded.
Only after I maxed out my career goals and got wealthy did I then focus on a Wife and kids at the age of 35. I knew I couldn't be a good Father or Husband with only Love and Potential to offer my family. Now that I am at the age of 57 my oldest Son is starting college and my Daughter and youngest Son will do so with no worries. My Father did the same thing and I have told my children this is the best way to succeed in life.
    Career FIRST Family SECOND.
Don't ever put yourself in a position to tell your children that you can't provide for them.
I can't think of a bigger FAILURE then that.

    • @jacobr4558
      @jacobr4558 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

This comment is so extreme! First off somehow you "maxed" out a career by 35? And now your kids can follow whatever they want with "no worries"? This is ridiculous on so many levels. First that either you have to go EXTREME rich or homeless and those are the only options. Second that career first is the better option because money is not the issue-it's circular...its better to pursue money first because then you have money. It's like saying my family focused on communication, support and love so now they are set up with love support and communication. Which would any human rather have? Seems obvious. Love, support, compassion, and communication can bring all sorts of benefits(including money). However money never brings love, friendship, support, or communication. Rather it brings out a lot of users, scammers, and fake support.

Okay here are two points to your reply.
      1. In the first part of your reply you told me just how massively inexperienced you are when you said you were surprised that I maxed out my Career at the age of 35.
So let me tell you about another "EXTREME" man named Elon Musk.
Elon Musk Co-Founded PAYPAL and was worth $300 Million at the age of 27 and was a Billionaire at the age of 41. I didn't become rich until I sold my entire Programming development at the age of 45, but I was very well off at the age of 35 when I met my wife and started a family.
So tough shit if you don't believe me or Elon Musk.
      2. In the second part of your reply you stated that money never brings love, friendship, or support but rather brings users, scammers and fake support. This is truly pathetic to hear because it sounds to me as if you are the sort of person who resents anyone elses personal happiness.
I mean, are you seriously going to tell me that all of the comfort and security that me and my family enjoy because of my hard work and wealth doesn't makes us happy?
Because if that's what you think then you're out of your damn mind!

  • @ADara-er1qb

Very thoughtful video 😄💕For me, money does not = success. What money can offer is stability, opportunities and ultimately a level of peace of mind. Mike is an extreme. In order for him to maintain that extreme, he sacrifices his energy, time and psychological equilibrium. On paper, John sounds like he is “healthier” because he refuses to sacrifice certain things for the level of “success” his brother has. The problem with this however is that just like with everything else in life, sacrificing even a modest level of monetary “success” comes with a slew of its own stressors and problems. My generation was told over and over to follow our passion, and we’d be “successful”.
Unfortunately, in a society where *both* the Mikes and Johns are upheld as “true success”, those of us who aren’t in a high paying field or *can’t* get by working just 20 hours a week (does his girlfriend chip in for rent? Does she have a stable, good paying job? How can he sustain a child if his income is so low?) are left feeling kinda depressed about the whole thing. I truly agree with what you are saying, money does not equal success. However in a world where doing anything, let alone achieving what we’re told should be possible (not a mansion, but a nice place to live, a car, maybe being able to take a vacation 1-2 a year, etc.) is getting increasingly more difficult as the cost of living escalates, money certainly makes things easier and alleviates stress.
To me, what needs to be addressed (in general, not by you personally! 😊) is the massive dissonance between what is affordable, and what is simply out of many peoples reach due to climbing costs of living.
Hoping everyone has a lovely day, and thank you for your video. 😄🙏💕

Success is closely related to 'succeed', 'successor', and 'succession'. Succession - a number of people or things sharing a specified characteristic and following one after the other. I think they all generally connote hierarchical competition in a linear manner, either within yourself, or with others, and the act of progressing or overcoming something to reach higher. I don't think it matters what that thing is. What is most important is the process, because there is satisfaction in achieving something through merit.

You define your own success, nobody can determine that but yourself. If you go to bed at night knowing you did at least one more thing that contributes to your definition of success, and it makes you happy, then that I think is success. We keep defining success for others, but everyone is different. There are some famous people who have all the money and influence in the world but they choose to end their life or get into drugs. Why? Because they are following someone else's definition of happiness and success. Success is also not just one thing, not just one big grand goal or passion, it could be small ones. It has no size or limit or age.

If we resolve to go swimming; we should not be upset to find we have gotten wet. If you resolve to be a CEO, you should not be surprised to discover your job owns your life. Are you willing to get wet? Are you prepared to exchange virtually all your time for a big pay off in cash?

"You need to define what success is" should rather be rephrased as "You need to decide what's most important to you". I would love having lots of money, a big house, a fancy sports car and all that, but I have found other things more important. I would never spend 80 hours a week on a job, since that would kill me, not only from stress, but also from boredom and loneliness.

I think being successful consist of 3 factors
    1. Money (you don't need to worry about your bills)
    2. Relationship (you have good relationship so you could avoid stress situation)
    3. Health (doesn't make sense if you're having good relationship and tons of money but you're sick, right?!)

Success is how you feel about yourself. If you seek the success where people praise you, it's a very cheap and inefficient way of doing it. Why? Because, if you're not happy with your life and yourself, no matter what you do or how much money you have, you will not feel successful.

It is nice to say that money and fame does not equal to happiness, but I think to emphasize that is also a bias, what if making money and becoming famous does make someone happy. The way to judge is being happy or not but not make the preconception that work/perusing money/perusing fame =unhappiness.

    • @tsenavi

Utkarsh Kumar retiring means not working and since it was the only activity which was making him feel successful I assume he’ll feel miserable after retiring, I know people who thought the same, that retiring fast would be cool and make them happier but it’s not since your job was your “success”

This is a great video, nice thinking, I agree with it.
However the story is kinda disturbing. We all know the Mike type, it's real. Is John real though?
I think it is important to have time for what and who you love, not to stress, live a nice life, this is what I do. Yet living paycheck to paycheck is not healthy, not good. You can do it alone, but when you have a partner and think about family, it just seems irresponsible. You can achieve a financial stability while not working your ass off, so you can feed your family and pay your rent without any major difficulties. John seems like a guy who is successful at enjoying his life but he is not responsible enough to start a family... yet.
