පහන්තුඩාව ඇල්ල Pahanthudawa Falls

Pahanthuda literary means the wick (of a small clay lamp specially used in temples). The Fall is named for the shape of the base pool which resembles the shape of a clay lamp. The waterfall resembles the wick of the lamp.
The breathtaking Pahanthudawa Falls is situated about 2 km from the small town of Belihuloya in 19 km off Balangoda on the A4 road. This is the last one of a series of waterfalls created by Belihul Oya before it streams into Samanala wewa Reservoir. This waterfall creates a small but deep pool at the bottom which is said to be of immeasurable depth and is in a shape of wick of a lamp- helps deriving it name (pahana - a lamp). To reach the falls, one should travel about 1.5 km on Ihala Galagama road starting from famous Belihuloya Rest house and follow the road leading to mini hydro power plant. Witnessing the falls is quite challenging as one must have to cross the stream and follow the steep valley upstream.
විශ්මය ජනක පහන්තුඩාව ඇල්ල පිහිටා ඇත්තේ කුඩා නගරයක් වන බෙලිහුල්ඔයට කිලෝමීටර 19 ක් දුරින් බලංගොඩට A4 මාර්ගයේ කි.මී. බෙලිහුල් ඔය සමනල වැව ජලාශයට ගලා ඒමට පෙර නිර්මාණය වූ දිය ඇලි මාලාවේ අවසාන එක මෙයයි. මෙම දිය ඇල්ල පතුලේ කුඩා නමුත් ගැඹුරු තටාකයක් නිර්මාණය කරයි, එය මැනිය නොහැකි ගැඹුරකින් යුක්ත වන අතර එය පහන් කූඩුවක හැඩයෙන් යුක්ත වේ - එයට නම (පහන - පහනක්) ලබා ගැනීමට උපකාරී වේ. ඇල්ලට ළඟා වීමට නම් සුප්‍රසිද්ධ බෙලිහුල්ඔය තානායම අසලින් ආරම්භ වී ඉහළ ගලගම මාර්ගයේ කිලෝමීටර් 1.5 ක් පමණ ගමන් කර කුඩා ජල විදුලි බලාගාරයට යන මාර්ගය ඔස්සේ යා යුතුය. දියඇල්ල දැක බලා ගැනීම තරමක් අභියෝගාත්මක වන අතර යමෙකුට ඇළ තරණය කර ඉහළට බෑවුම් සහිත නිම්නය අනුගමනය කළ යුතුය.

On the other hand, We deliver great messages to our viewers about the responsible tourism and specially our aim is to promote Nature conservation through sustainable tourism.
“Travel Map with Tharanga” is not only a simple travel documentary programme, we use Resource persons such as Naturalists, Lecturers when needed and we are trying to manage this as an educational documentary.
“Soba” is one of the well-known travel documentary programme in Sri Lanka which was nominated as the Best Presenter award at the Sumathi Award Ceremony and the Best Documentary at the Raigam Awards ceremony several times.
