    Those hills are part of the La Cloche mountain range. They consist of white-quartzite, giving them that whitish colour. Members of the Group of Seven travelled there in 1930's to paint the stunning landscapes.

      It's super beautiful without a doubt. We learned about the Group of Seven from Roy in Little Current, a great story!

    My wife and I and our sons use to go up to where you anchored over 40 years ago. In all the years we went and camped in the portage cove we only saw 2 boats. It was all crown Land and there were NO cottages or houses..

    Bananas are bad luck on a boat! LoL
    "The banana superstition dates all the way back to the 1700s, when many lost or ill-fated ships were noted to have been carrying bananas to their destination. It is perhaps because of this occurrence that bananas became known as omens of danger and misfortune for ships."

    At 8:38 in your video you passed by Mary Ann Cove, possibly my favorite anchorage in the North Channel. Reason being is there is a hiking path there that takes you to the summit of the LaCoche mountain range affording the best view of the another Channel, bar none!

    Beautiful area and as usual it gets crowded. Cross the border and serene places that Canada is noted for are the goals for all of us who think we are keeping the country clean. Give us time and there will be a quick shop there.

    So beautiful! I keep saying it but Canada has so much beauty! You two are brave for jumping in the cooold water…I’m a baby and I’m not sure I could do it!😅 Your fried rice looked delish and I loved the shout out to Kathryn and Adam at the end with those awesome dance moves! Great video you two!

    I hate to tell you this, but August is as warm as the water gets. If you go in after dark, it feels a lot warmer, weirdly enough. Can't speak for others, but my Mom's rule was that you had to come out when your lips turned blue. Seriously.

    • @fredbrillo1849
      @fredbrillo1849 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It feels warmer at night cause tge air temperature is lower and thus your skin temperature is cooler..so it's not quite the shock. I live in Florida and yiu haven't lived till you've jumped into a 70 degree fresh water spring on a 98 degree air temperature day.

    Fantastic video, as always! BTW is Ollie completely trained "doing her business" on the boat? If she is, maybe you should do a video on how you get ger trained.🤔

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Julio! She does do her business on the boat if we don’t take her to shore in a day, otherwise she simply holds it. I’m not sure if we will do a video on it but we do have a blog post on it! schoandjo.com/full-time-cruising-with-a-dog-on-americas-great-loop/

    Hello from Oysterland (Power Cat). We are restarting the loop in about a week from NY. What are you guys using for money throughout Canada? Are you able to use U.S. or having to convert to Canadian dollars? Thanks

    Wow, wow and wow! This place is gorgeous. I don't blame you Jen for having trepidation about jumping into cold water, I'm not a fan of it either. I have a suggestion for your next adventure that is right up ya'all:s alley, if you haven't already done it, go do the Camino Frances Route of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. It's a 30-35 day hike from St Jean Pied du Port, France, to Santiago de Compostela Spain. There are all kinds of TH-cam videos about it and the major motion picture, "The Way" by Emilio Estevez, starring his dad, Martin Sheen. It's one of those things that is hard but definitely an amazing, life changing journey. There are other Camino routes one can take, but the Camino Frances is the most popular route. There is a similarity it seems in doing The Loop and doing The Camino, in that those who do it, are a community of people from all over the world. I may not do The Loop but I am definitely going to do the Camino. It looked like Ollie had a great time. She is such an awesome dog. She can come too. One man that one person met was doing it with "my best friend in the whole world," his mule! This mule was amazing. He was so kind, loving and gentle and a bit of a ham. Loving these videos of this part of the trip.

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s pretty crazy that you mention the Camino, we have been seriously researching it and considering it for the early fall…. I’m not sure it will work out this year, but no doubt it has made its way onto the bucket list and I think we will try to hike it in the next few years!

    Went to school for 2 years at Florida Institute of Technology Jensen Beach. Outrigger Marine was owned by Francis Langford, Ralph Evinrudes wife. He kept the school funded so they couldn't build anything around her. Saw that yacht (or the one they had at time) many times. Rumor was when she got mad at him, she'd load up her French chef and off to Europe she'd go. After he passed, school property was sold and their estate next door is now a subdivision. Sad.
    Yacht had a rack of outboard motors on it. Said that if they came across a boat with an evinrude having engine trouble, they had a team that would switch out the motor free of charge. A lot of outboard testing up and down Indian River and boat races all through the summer
