I subscribed because I have several Quincy comoressors. From a 325 to a 390. They are built like tanks. I especially like the inline head and pressurized oil system.

Nice video. The valve that did not leak .... I would still want to replace the old valve spring because it may be weakened from use and allow the valve disc to "float" a bit during running conditions. I don't think that has happened yet because the valve disc would overheat. That disc looked great, but if you want the rebuild to last, I'd replace the springs.

Muchas gracias

Can you flip that valve washer over and get a good surface for sealing or sand it down smooth again if the face is rough?

      Short answer is no.
these valve disc are very hard, they have to be. often an older disc will be marred from the spring pushing up. I could have probably gotten away with just cleaning the valve disc and changing the springs. I think the old style springs were pretty weak.
I remember the old series of Mcguiver in the 80s he fixed a Quincy with a flat washer. and that probably worked for a week. but these disc need to be HARD they slap shut 900 times a minute. run a pump 2 hrs and any soft metal will be deformed.
      good question . thanks
      Bud
