    Remember the black cloth tape for you drop bars? That's what I use. Works very well, cheap and looks good

    I'm not a fan of the lumpy look, I do love that mastic tape though, think I'll throw a couple small pieces on those extra spots you mentioned 👍

      It works! Also soft part of Velcro also works pretty well for some spots like cables

    Could I use this tape as a down tube protector? Or to cover up so unwanted brands?

    • @mrpercussive
      @mrpercussive  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely! It's tough and thick! Would be cool for bottom bracket area too!

    How will it hold up to rocks on the downtube?

    • @mrpercussive
      @mrpercussive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For downtube rock protection i actually just use thicker slaps of 3m Helicopter tape. Here's a link to my bike check showing you what it looks like. Time stamp is 6:41
      th-cam.com/video/xgsX2zY9n-c/w-d-xo.html
      If I were to use mastic tape for downtube rocks and stuff, i would do a layer of that and then use strip of gorilla tape to go over it and it'll be tougher and last longer.

    • @mrpercussive

      @@FORTE-VIDEOS I've never worked with kydex before but have friends who have had good luck with it. Don't think I'm going to make a video on it unless i'm actually going to do it for a bike i have. Went with thick clear helicopter for my current ride so i'm good for now

    • @mrpercussive
      @mrpercussive  ปีที่แล้ว

      All my bikes with this are still holding up. Some are more worn that others but it's all still in running shape

  • @ShayZ06LS6
    @ShayZ06LS6 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Unfortunately, because of the softness of the mastic tape, it is not resilient to impact and scratches and will get marred and scuffed easily, ruining the aesthetics of a beautiful matte taping job. You can cover this mastic with a harder shiny tape like 3M Super 33 or 88 to protect from shearing forces.

      good to know... Mine's actually still doing pretty good in terms of ware but will try that eventually when i wear it out! Thanks!

      Probably just bad camera angle. Sprayed the chainstay. Dont think it'll hurt chain if some of it gets on there. Just make sure to wipe and relube after...
