Seth I've been a diesel technician for 25yrs. I've cut countless zip tie ends. I've never thought about just twisting them off. This afternoon I replace everyone on everything in my garage.
After working on my brake caliper I forgot to bend the pin that threads through the brake pads in order to secure the them, so it fell out. I used a piece a bamboo and two zip ties on each end to secure it. It worked so well I hated to remove it once back home. Great vid!
You can also use your fork as a trying stand by putting a ziptie on the stansion or wherever is up against the rim (or rotor) and use it like a trying stand ☺️
Try 'vacuum sealing' zip lock bags by sucking on a straw through a small hole at the top before you close the bag. This keeps everything in place and prevents stuff from rattling around and smushing together during a ride
Good zip tie cutting hack when on the trail. For when i'm home, I bought flush cutters for zip ties.... never have a sharp zip tie end ever again and well worth the $5. I'll never use standard wire cutters again because they always leave a very sharp edge and i've cut myself by accident many times before.
here’s a hack for you if you want to ride with minimum gear and need to carry an air canister, you can attach the canister to your bike by using one of those hand pump holders which mount underneath your bottle cage.
Just bought my first hardtail in about 10 years mostly thanks to your videos. Needless to say, I overexerted myself during the first ride and puked next to a park bench. You never realize how hard biking actually is until you sit on one and realize that stamina isn't just a video game stat anymore.
For stripped out Allen head bolts, Take your Allen wrench and grind a little 45 deg. angle on each edge of the wrench end that fits into the bolt head. What this does is allows the wrench to seat further into the bolt head, as Allen bolts have a concave bottom, not flat.
A variation on your Reesedilla that I've been doing for quite awhile now: Corn tortilla (digests easier than flour, and you're gonna be bumpin' around) with peanut butter, banana slices and some straight up honey. Not too much honey or you've got a sticky situation on your hands, just a bit to add flavor and some raw simple sugar energy! Cheers Seth!
You can stuff some small sponge or foam into open holes on your bike (Hollow BBTs, bottom of the steerer tube, etc) to prevent mud and dirt from getting in
Bike Hack. For an adapter from Schrader to presta valves, take a rubber car tyre valve stem and shave down the end and add a length of 4mm rubber hose. The rubber hose fits over the presta valve. Good for when you need air at a gas station.
*This hack idea just came to my mind and I have not used it, so I cannot guarantee effectiveness* Get a thin piece of foam or a thin yoga mat and wrap it around your chainstay, secure it in a few spots with tape or zip ties, and make sure to put the seam of whatever you used on the downside of the chainstay
In high school me and my friend were riding on the same bike to get back in time from lunch. We fell, so I walked the rest of the way. It was only until I got in the bus that I notices the sprocket had punched 4 holes into my lower leg. 18 years later and I still have the scars from that incident!
Hello Seth!I love your videos!Im thinking on a hack for days!My idea is:You can do a cheap chain guide into a really cheap plastic brake lever! You saw in half it!you need the hool on it!Please try it!
nail clippers will cut the tail off cable ties, they can b bought very cheaply in discount shops & are obviously very compact, they will fit in the tightest spot in your tool kit ☺☺
Here are one of my hacks that sometimes Work Try Finding a 2 Carabiner Big enoughto fit for you're handle bar and A Rope Long Enough Maybe 5 meters or Feet the length depends on You Why I use These because I'm my place There where many lakes and narrow Trail that's why Some of my Friends Always falls on the lake so We could help him Get Back Up
i like that first one. I crashed over a hip one time and got my leg caught in between the sprocket and the frame, so i couldnt get it out. My friend pulled the bike off me and i found four little holes in the back of my leg. good times.
Instead of valve stem nuts for the caliper, try using a rubber band from one bolt to the other. Holds it all in place and you can even start the bolts back into the frame then just cut the rubber band off.
The soil compactor is a tamper... I like Maple Syurp in my Coconut Water for a all natural energy snack that has more good stuff in it then you would even believe if I typed it all... thans for the tips..
The Tecnu spray is pretty good stuff. That's not coming from a MTB perspective as I've only recently started riding again after 20 year but from many years working as Ranger and coming into contact with kinds of bites and rashes. If you grab a mini travel spray bottle, you can even decant some to have with you on the trail.
In regard to your zip tie hack...if you have another tie attach it to the one needing cutting. once both head are beside one another twist til it snaps off, no sharp edges.
Man, I always follow your videos, I'm from Brazil, and wanted to know if you have as you are providing subtitles in Portuguese, I guarantee. there are more Brazilians wanting the same their channel and toppp
If you don't have a tailgate cover for bikes you can go to rubber supply stores and buy a costom cut piece of rubber . That will only run you 30-40$, and you can even slice some holes in the top were each bike is going to go and put some self stick hook and loop to keep the bikes in place
Another hack for a future video- for those who ride with clipless pedals you can swap out one of your rotor bolts for a cleat screw in case one falls out of your shoe on the trail.
Hey, I use graphite powder for my chain. Works pretty good and no dirt gets stuck...try it and let me know. It s just a bit messy to apply. Need à cloth under the chain while applying

I know this video is old, but I had an idea for a hack you could try. I personally have a 3x8 drivetrain, and the chain not only slaps on chain stay, but also the front derailleur. You could wrap electrical tape around the bottom of the front derailleur. I have not personally tried this yet because I want it to be approved by the hacker man himself.
"find and cut" hahaha need to cut your grass with your Ryobi battery saw. That means you're getting good ride time in. Thanks for the videos you're great.
Avocado hack. Once you’ve split and taken the seed out, don’t scoop it out with a spoon. Rather, peel the skin off both halves and you won’t waste any of that green gold.
In these hack videos No one ever mentions what I’ve come to call a “hub noose”. It’s simply a piece of string, I use round shoe laces, and you tie it to your hubs. Gravity pulls the knot downwards so that your cleaning your hubs while you ride…. Coz the hub spins and the string doesn’t… mostly. Instead of knots I tied them into nooses.. hence “hub noose”. Tip: if you use this hack just remember there’s a slack sweet spot. Too loose and the knot will get caught in your spokes or drive train. Too tight and it’ll spin with the hub and not actually do what it’s there for. Not a super hack but still a lot easier than struggling a brush between your spokes on wash day. And apparently an overlooked 1
I’ve been doing this on my bikes for over 50 years, everyone did it when I was a kid, guess it made sense to stick with it. We use to use a bit of rag. Cheers from 🏴 Scotland
2 days ago in the middle of a race I snapped my chain. I was so pissed and my team was telling me to run the last 6 miles. I’m done within this current bike and want to get the diamondback release one

Still thanks for another great hack video.
Toast needs to be well done, most people call it cremated, it’s the best way
thumbs up for the valve core nut tip ! keeping the bolts on the caliper and adapter is a great one !
2:03 Seth: carefully tap it into the hole proceeds to smash with hammer
Although it may seem that he is just hammering with not much care, he is doing some light taps to ensure it doesn't go in too deep
Theres tapping and hammering.
LOL 😂
I'm just going to say "thanks". I can't find any better way! XD

Are you gonna check out Diamondback’s new Mission Carbon?
Just bought my first hardtail in about 10 years mostly thanks to your videos.

Hammering on my bike does give me a queasy feeling. But it seems it always comes to that point eventually. 🎯 Cool hack for the brake rotor truing.

2:08 "carefully tap it into the hole" *hammers the fork out of bit driver*
In a pinch, you can use a lock on grip collar as a spoke wrench. Note that this only works on some spokes.
You can stuff some small sponge or foam into open holes on your bike (Hollow BBTs, bottom of the steerer tube, etc) to prevent mud and dirt from getting in
Sad that it ain’t Seth’s Bike Hacks anymore
Still the same Seth we know and love though
You’ve outdone yourself with these. Solid work.
The chain hack has helped me more than once
You should have named it : 10 MTB hacks that will knock your shocks off😂😂
should of called it 10 MTB Tips & Hacks that will knock your 'shocks' off!
You can also cut a slot in any bolt or head that sticks out and use a screwdriver of piece of metal to unscrew it

I'm not sure which is wrong, but your front and rear rotors are mounted opposite of each other. Thanks for the great hacks and riding videos!

You should build the wall ride on berm creek! Like you said in the trail boss vid.
Hack idea: U can make a tubeless tire compressor from an flat tire repair kit and a garden sprayer.
My socks are gone
You should get the mission carbon 2
He needs to, not that it matters much but the mission carbon one looks the best
Yeah, but the mission 2 has better components. It honestly doesn't matter.
But never fear Seths bike hacks is here
The torx trick helped me get some stripped allen bolts off my bmx.
@berm peak I love love watching your videos.
You can also use a chain tool as valve core wrench
The soil compactor is a tamper... I like Maple Syurp in my Coconut Water for a all natural energy snack that has more good stuff in it then you would even believe if I typed it all... thans for the tips..
MacGyver of Mountain biking....NICE!!!
you can also use another ty-wrap to twist of the tail.
I have a bike hack you can strap an old shop rag to your rotors to keep them clean when your cleaning your drivetrain
Hey Seth can u make a video about dealing with poison oak I feel like every mountain biker has dealt with tit

Loosing the little washers for the brake caliber bolts is annoying as hell! That tip using the valve stem nuts is actually really clutch!
Man, I always follow your videos, I'm from Brazil, and wanted to know if you have as you are providing subtitles in Portuguese, I guarantee. there are more Brazilians wanting the same their channel and toppp
My pass through axle is all stripped out, guess I know how to loosen it now. 🍻
I feel like a Leatherman wave+ and a bit kit could fix like 90% of these problems and it fits almost anywhere.
If you don't have a tailgate cover for bikes you can go to rubber supply stores and buy a costom cut piece of rubber . That will only run you 30-40$, and you can even slice some holes in the top were each bike is going to go and put some self stick hook and loop to keep the bikes in place
hope to see a 10 trail snacks video sooner or later!
Through axel additional tip.. moisten allen wrench and cover with sand or dirt...for extra grip.
I would suggest an EZ Out for the stripped through axle.
The food hacks was really good
The best tool for cutting zip ties is a pair of flush cutters. Not really a trailside hack, but much better for back home.
The disk hack is a good one
They’re just things I’ll never use but still need to know
A nother great video, love all your hacks. keep them coming.

Sorry if my English is bad
The first one he says why don’t you just shorten your chain by 1 link you can’t go in the highest gears but it work perfectly
Keep the vids up Seth I love them
Use orange juice next time instead of lime or lemon on your avocado, it's life changing!
If you have a chain tool with you, why not carry a couple extra links to repair the chain instead?
Seth you should come to Buffalo NY and do the ride for Roswell!!!!! It’s a bike ride which goes toward raising money for cancer research!!
THAT RED DIAMONDBACK!
instead of destroying a tool, grind a small slot in the end of the through axle. Then you can unscrew it with a flathead screw driver.
Great zip tie hack. But you get the autolike for the banana reesadilla.....just kidding, already subscribed.
thanks for this video!..

The chain bits good but if you have a chain breaker just remove the link and tighten it a tad lol
