  • In this lecture, we will study about:
    1. Concept of Power as propounded by Max Weber.
    2. Weber uses the German word Herrschaft for legitimate form of power which is called as authority or domination.
    3. Max Weber constructed an ideal type of authority.
    4. Weber argues that there are three types of authority namely Traditional authority, Charismatic authority and Legal-Rational authority.
    5. Whereas Marx was talking about Modes of Production, Max Weber deals with modes of authority in his famous work Class, Status and party.
    6. Max Weber argues Bureaucracy as Legal Rational authority is most superior and efficient form of organisation of work.
    7. Weber also talks about Bureaucracy as an Iron cage.

    • @kaarwan-e-upsc
      @kaarwan-e-upsc  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think so... But I never stop people from reading books if they want to... Ritzer would be more comprehensible once you have gone through these lectures...... However, I would advise you to keep lectures and notes at the core of your preparation!!

    sir whenever u say weber bolte hain can we write in exam weber quotes " charishma of leader is revolutionary" . and sir sometimes u write quote on board weber " ' . ARE THESE both same things

    • @kaarwan-e-upsc
      @kaarwan-e-upsc  ปีที่แล้ว

      No.. These are not the same things.... Quotes include the literal words..... Whereas when I say weber argues/says....it means paraphrasing.... Quotes when used smartly could make the answer attractive... However, concepts/interlinkages/multidimensionality is paramount.

    Sir connecting to this lecture only don't you think that marriage age of man is 21 and for a woman it is 18. This creates inequality and discrimination against women as in our Indian tradition society we respect and obey our elders one. In that way a married women have to obey her husband lifetime with or without consent. is not that our law also imposing traditional authority of a man.

    • @kaarwan-e-upsc
      @kaarwan-e-upsc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The discrimination, I would say here is not based on Age per se... But due to Patriarchal culture and position of women in Society.... You will read about Gender as a form of stratification later.
