It’s my town. After living in the UK for 34 years I’m sad that Tetouan will be home to thousands s of tourists in the future… I wanted it to remain my gem ❤
Such a great video mate, I'm from tetouan myself and i really like when tourists post videos about our country and showing that it's completely safe and so welcoming! Hope you had a great time 🙏
Hi Chris, i just found your channel today and I am in love with your videos. Mostly I am appreciating your positive view on everything (e.g. that google maps is not working could be stressful to other tourists, but you see it as a chance to explore the city and to just trust the process). I am planning a trip to Morocco for hopefully next year. Your videos are helpful. I wish you a nice time in Morocco! 😊 Greetings from Germany
I'm Moroccan and I never been to that to Tetouan but it holds a special place in my heart. The people from that city are so nice and chill and the vibe that gives is like old Morocco mixed with all the good stuff. I will visit it soon for sure
Just planning a trip to Morocco this Sept. Loving your videos Chris, really helping to know where to visit. I've just cancelled one extra night in Tangier so we can stop off here on the way to Chefchaouen.
We unknowingly booked a tour from Marbella to Tetouan. We saw Morocco day trip and booked assuming it was Tangiers. We have never been to Tangiers either so nothing to compare to. After we booked I read the description closer and realized this was a different city. I watched this podcast the night before just get reassurance I would not be disappointed and i was not.
Your videos were the perfect preparation for my trip. We weren’t sure if we would fine the way up the hill. Thanks to playing your video simultaneously, we made it 🙏🏼
Nice vid. I was in Chefchaoen and the locals there recommended going to Tetouan, passed through it but didn’t stop. On my return will definitely check this interesting city out. Thanks for posting.
Brilliant video. Really informative and helpful. It's convinced me to stay a night at this town. Looking forward to watching your other videos in Morocco
Thank you! Make sure you don't miss the rooftop of El reducto for sunset, wine and food - It's absolutely stunning! I spent 3 nights in Tetouan and was there for all 3.
@@ChrisKermis Thanks for the reply. I've saved all the places you visited on my google maps so I won't miss it. I've watched more of your videos in Morocco, and I absolutely love all of them. Thanks for your time creating these vlogs.
another great vid Chris, nice one. Which month were you there? Was in Marrakech and Essaouira last month, your vids gave a good insight and some great tips. Off to Tangiers, Tetouan and Chefchaouen next month - again, your vids really useful in trip planning. Thanks and atb
Looks like a nice day trip or maybe a longer stay if you're on the long end of an extended stay. Thanks for your work showing us some of the places off the beaten path. How are the bus systems in general? 🤔
Absolutely, I spent a few nights there on a longer stay and was happy with that. Well worth a day trip from Tangier though on a shorter stay. The buses in Morocco are pretty good in my experience. I usually just book my outward journey when I arrive.
Aside from the hill with the fort and the upper sections of the old town that part is flat. There’s some hills around the newer side but that can be avoided with a taxi. I also don’t recall seeing any lifts in buildings. Nothing I can think of to stop a visit, just some parts to avoid.
Hi Chris! I'm truly captivated by your travel insights! I'll be in Morocco in February for 12 days. What places would you recommend visiting during this relatively short trip? And btw, have you tried mapsme to navigate around there? I seem to add more questions :) How can you get to the seaside from Tetouan?
Hey, thanks! 12 days isn’t long so you won’t get too far beyond the big sights. It’s all depends on how you travel and what you like to see of course. What I can say is that the train between Casablanca and Tangier is superb. Fast, comfortable and cheap so makes travel between a breeze
Have a great time there! BTW I haven’t used mapsme (never heard of it) and I wouldn’t bother going to the seaside from Tetouan, just do that from Tangier if you’re in that area
@@ChrisKermisMartil is the best place to go lovely beach a short bus ride or taxi from Tétouan m'y friend has an apartment to rent there €20 per night let me know if you're interested
Hi Chris, thanks for the effort making the video, but I must point out that, you need to make your home work on the history of the city and morocco in general, you have made few historical mistakes, also to correct u, the old city was built in the 11th century by the moroccan people, and was designed for the safety and protection of their people and located on the hill facing the sea, so they can spot and stop any invasion by anyone coming from sea. The houses inside the old city are still standing until now, hence generations of moroccan people still living in them up to now, the new city or what u called it the Spanish houses, correction, us actually moroccan houses built by moroccans, and the design is moroccan not Spanish, it is the other way around, in short the old moroccan people which is Berber and Arabs made a big army , in 7th century went to Iberia, present day spain, took over most of Andalusia, built new cities with moroccan architecture, and stayed there until 14th century, hence they influenced the Spanish building, houses, therefore that is why u assumed the houses were spanish style, maybe you went on holiday to Spain and seen similarity in the house style, and assumed that morocco have spanish houses??.
I visited Reus recently and there was a video about the town. The Spanish translation didn't seem to paint a positive picture. Presumably a good knowledge of French is useful.
Dear Chris, regarding the rubbish u have mentioned in some places in tiouane, I noticed you have focused on the subject in the areas where non one live, which most of the stuff is blown towards empty field by the wind, but it doesn't mean that morocco is full of rubbish everywhere, I lived in the UK for 30 years, and I can tell you there is a lots of rubbish in a lots of areas of the most of cities and towns, and I went to new York, and found more rubbish in the streets than I saw in moroccan cities, it's normal things in every country, but it seemed you talked about it a lots when morocco's concerned, you sounded like a typical tourist, when they go abroad and start moaning about rubbish, flies, smell, mosquitos, it's like they don't exist where they come from, I can tell u, where I live in the UK, I got bitten by big mosquitos in the summer, and get big flies all the time, and don't start me on the stinking poo smell coming in from the farmers field regularly, and u can't open the house windows when the smell is on, plus other smells from manufacturers nearby, and I struggle to breath, so you need to focus ur videos on places of interest, culture, history, achievement, tourism, sports, and fun stuff, not negativity, in ur case filming rubbish, every country have good areas, and crapy ones, no country is immune from rubbish or perfect, I could go on and on about lots of things but I think u got my meaning, good luck. 😊
