Music Producer Reacts: Bury The Light (Devil May Cry 5 OST)

- My Reaction & Analysis of Bury The Light, the trailer song for Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, and supposedly, Vergil's DMC5 battle theme.
Is this the best videogame vocal theme of all times?
Casey Edwards and Victor Borba really did it with this one.
Let me explain you a bit how, but be warned.
There may be some more screaming and more bamboozled moments in this video than normal.

That’s legitimately my favorite thing in this song, and that’s saying something, cause all of this song is masterfully done.

Virgil is Dante (The protagonist of 90% of the series) Twin Brother, and they are Half Devil Half-Human. Every game has them struggle to come to terms with one or both sides of their heritage. The fact you essentially picked up on this through the music without playing the game is interesting and impressive (especially for the composers).
This isn’t entirely correct. The only internal conflicts in the series were Dante with his demon half and Virgil with his human half in part 3, Nero in part 4 and then Virgil with the same shit in part 5.
He said he hadn't played DMC3 or 4 but he might have known that already

Yeah, it really fits Vergil's character. His adherence to tradition and his demonic heritage, in addition to the pain and vulnerability he keeps buried under his superiority complex and a façade of stoicism. (Hence the title of the song, "Bury The Light") He maintains a front of his darker parts while his capability for compassion and empathy is suppressed and smothered for fear of being hurt as he was in childhood when the few people he actually loved were violently ripped away by Mundus's minions.

I feel like DMC and video game music as a whole has evolved into something so complex, and unique that it is truly an amazing art form that continues to evolve and only get better.
Makes total sense, DMC is all about style, all the aesthetics and sounddesign gotta be too notch.
I think the reference to the fact that it has an orchestral sort of theme sometimes to it, almost to sounding like it can sound like it would fit in Castlevania could be how Virgil as a child was always into classical music and played the violin, which can be seen in one of his taunts in DMC5 and in the unfinished manga. It would be an immensely cool reference.
As someone that’s been around/involved with music my whole life. Hearing his reaction answered my question; how is this song so fucking elite? It’s honestly so well put together and produced. Synths, vocals, cords, emotion, story telling. It’s so beautifully dark.

Personally, as a person who plays the Viola in a high school orchestra, the beginning and the part at 9:12 sound so marvelous, with the piercing sound of the bow strokes given off by the Violins. It kind of gives the song a frighteningly powerful sound when combined with the threatening abysmal sound of the low pitch theme of the song.
6:12 Its subtle but I just love how leading up to "Forsaken, I am" is sung in a scruffy aggressive tone, then seamlessly moves onto "Awakened. A Phoenix ashes dark divine" with a softer tone to signify a change in Virgil's being. These very small details, I swear...
