I love the Baldur's Gate videos. Between the actual build construction, the talking about lore, the walk down memory lane and how something as mundane as a video game inspired us for life. Bravo. also, just wanna say, Wyloch - you helped me realize what we can can do with cardboard, hot glue and paint. We dont need the fancy foams and 3d printers and almost all of my builds have a little bit of you in them. So thanks man!
Hello there, Wyloch..... just wanted to drop you a line, to say that over the last few years of your posting this series, I have seldom - if ever - found such an informative, and inspiring set of how tos' , about the construction of Dungeons and Dragons style tiles and accessories! I have been following this, since video number 1... even put together a set of tiles for myself - including the dungeon / cardboard lock system, which I really get a kick out of by the way. It's VERY useful to the tiles. Not to mention, cheap! Lol! A word about your ranking system: I think you're on the right track with this idea. At the same time, I want you to remember something very important here: EVERY video you've made on this subject, or anything related to it, has VALUE, has WORTH to it, has a PURPOSE to it, and because of that, they ALL rate high; if not in your eyes, then in the eyes of your viewers, many of whom would be the poorer for not having them. Now, I'm not trying to suck up here; you're not perfect, noone is. You're a Human being, with a gift for instruction. Down-to-earth, fun instruction. AndI, for one THANK YOU for that. Because of YOUR videos, I was able to construct my own set of tiles...and still do, by the way. Believe me, I STILL get a kick out of it. Eventually, I will have a set of over 200 tiles in my possession! Terrain for every campaign. I'm looking forward to that! Anyways, that's enough for now. I know even with all the praise I've heaped upon you, there are your off moments; cause let's face it, we all have times when we suck - meh! part of being Human, right? You'll do okay. Oh! One final thing: try not to get too attached to this scale of yours. The REAL, TRUE value of anything you do, lies in the joy and the happiness it brings, not only to others, but to YOU. If it makes even ONE PERSON happy...if it makes even ONE PERSON exclaim, "I'm gonna do that!" and they DO.... it's a great video. Please remember this...and keep making your videos. Stay in connection with the hoby/wargames terrain community, cause they WILL provide people like You and Me with years of inspiration and motivation, for any and ALL projects we wanna tackle. Thank you again, and Bless you. Much success, to you.
That was a fun walk through the past. So many of these videos changed my crafting game. I think quite a few of your choices should have been shift up a tier but I can’t wait for the next video now having insight into how you view your own projects.
LEDs, Tavern Food, and Building Baldurs Gate are my favorite videos of all time. I also enjoyed the Neon Skies vids and the Cyberpunk builds. Glad to see most of these scored well in the rankings.
I actually enjoyed this ranking video a lot, and gave me some motivation to get back to making content too! It's strange to look back at old videos and examine how I feel about them now, a few years later. Your videos gave and give me a lot of inspiration Wyloch, there are few channels I constantly watch and look forward for new videos, yours is one of them. I made my own beholder from a pingpong ball thanks to your video, I have 3 different test pieces of dungeon tiles I want to make a batch of, and I used many technicques and solutions in my crafts that I learned from your channel. So thank you for the memories with this vid, it was fun!
This seems like an appropriate time to chime in. I found your videos 5ish years ago, and it was a major turning point for me. I had just moved back to the area where I’m from and started playing RPGs regularly once again. (For many years I was mostly a board gamer) I had only done some basic crafts many years earlier. I’ll spare you pics, but to date I have built: the walkways with accessories, volcano tiles, jungle scatter, industrial pipes, electrical box buildings, acid pools, cargo scatter pieces, food and some of the furniture (with more planned). Thank you for all the great tutorials. Personally, I absolutely loved the audiobooks and whenever I want to run an old module I look for one (usually unsuccessfully). Amazing idea, it made me want to run it (and build it) in the future. I look forward to whatever you come up with next. Thanks for the nostalgic recap.
I’ve been a huge fan of your channel for years. I just wanted to say “thank you”. You’ve inspired me to craft and it has been so much fun and has really enhanced my D&D game. You’re too harsh on yourself in your grading. You genuinely changed my life. Thank you, thank you!
Following your Tavern/Inn video is what sparked my love for this hobby, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. And now I have a spare room FILLED with all the builds I've made over the years, all thanks to you. Truly, thank you so much for sharing your love of the craft with the world.
I still have my DM Screen I made based on your video. I was told from a person in the Crafter's Guild on FB to glue on some cloth to the cardboard bindings... fixed all my problems!!!!
Congrats on 10 years of this Bill. I knew you'd been at this a while (and even my work is starting to climb!) - but I didn't realize you had such a wealth of content!
I have watched and watched and rewatched and rewatched, and then rewatched a few more times all of your furniture and other doodad videos over and over again. These are top notch, and for me the "Industry Standard." I use the "Liked" list here as a personal Playlist of saved tutorial videos to return to when working on projects. Most of them are your videos. Your Speed Paint video dropped right at the right time for me. That was when I received my SSD/SSI back payout and I picked up the Mega Mondo set from them. Same with the washes and a dozen other sets from them. You made me an Army Painter Man, and I have no regrets. I'd say "Keep up the Good Work," but I already know you will. Just wanted to say thank you for bringing me into this hobby. Jeremy at BMC was the first crafter I found, followed quickly by you. You two are my biggest influences and inspirations.
You truly deserve more subs and likes then you get. A true legend in the TTRPG builders sphere. Been here about 3-4 years myself. I dont build diddly. I dont play. I just enjoy watching crafty people craft what they love.
Loved this retrospective, it was fun to revisit some videos I got a lot out of and see some ones that I never saw before. My buddies and I switched to One Page 40k in 2016 and I remember being quite excited when I heard there was someone doing battle reports on TH-cam. That's how I came across your channel originally, but the Warhammer 40k terrain videos really hooked me. I built your roads and sector mechanicus towers and really, really like them. Your channel is one of my all-time favorites and I keep coming back to watch your videos, they're so relaxing and satisfying to watch.
My favorite YT crafter and primary influence for terrain. S tier: all full mega dungeon builds A tier: everything else D tier: that seashell number hulk
Great video. I am also pleased that you were quite fair and impartial (for the most part) on your ranking for the videos. I've seen a couple of these self-reviews and they were either way too harsh on themselves, or way to proud of thier achievements. I was surprised to see your early adopter for OnePage Rules on TH-cam. That's awesome!
Just found your channel about a month ago and I've watched your Tomb of Horrors and White Plume Mountain videos twice over. I know they were a lot of work but they turned out amazing! Love the work you do!
It was the Rhino that got us hooked, and that spell of DIY minis you did around 17-18... still mining that for ideas even now! And the mechanicum terrain set, that was genius
Cant rank something what is briliant from the start. A have been there, watching your videos long before creating an youtube account, those 10 years was awesome thanks to you! Keep up the good work
Love to see the Tavern in S tier! That was the video that inspired me to make my first piece of terrain and I'm very fond of it. From there I fell down the wargame pipeline and now I make my own Warhammer/miniature videos. Definitely not where I expected to end up from making a little styrofoam and cardboard house lol 😂
All your vids are number 1 in my book. I absolutely love the baldurs gate stuff though because man you were killing it with the energy in that series. I watch those so often to get inspired.
“Maybe you’re putting this on to fall asleep to…” Wyloch knows the calming power of his voice and how he is the Bob Ross of table top crafting creators. Also, I am hoping you continue to build things inspired by the original Baldur’s Gate games!!
I'm only 15 minutes into the video, and I KNOW I will be finishing it, but I wanted to get this out before I forgot. You're quite critical about some of your videos, it seems, and as a creative person myself, I get it. I'm not gonna tell you to NOT be critical because some of your criticism is very sound and reasonable, but I will say, alot of the videos you stick in the lower tiers you consider bad or that "nobody needs them" but I beg to differ. Even if the video doesn't bring something crazy new or super detailed, it bolsters your viewers with inspiration. Many of the videos you've mentioned I haven't seen yet, but you describe them, and I immediately jot notes down because it gave me an idea for something to craft!
Great video and awesome to hear your views now compared to your old videos! So, if you were creating a new "curriculum" for beginners like the channel was when it first started, it would be interesting to hear which videos (if any) you would guide absolute newbies to, or whether you'd just start again from scratch with better gear/equipment and the lessons learnt?
to each their own, but the hand made dreadnought and other paper miniature videos were my favourite videos of yours back in the days. My absolute favourite is the massive green titan knight. very impressive! I love how it looks and all the effort and ideas put into it. As a youngster I did some custom miniatures myself, and is ever so proud of them no matter what.
You definitely got harder on yourself as the this video went on; completely relatable Still, so much quality content, and some that ill have to go back and watch for completeness sake
A fun trip for sure. I may disagree with a few placements (I think some of the scratch-built 40k miniatures could be higher, there is lots of value in stuff like a budget Dreadnought), and there are some fundamental videos (the 40k roads and scifi fences in particular) that I personally rank high up with the Admech Walkways as core videos I revisit to shape my crafting. And I think any of the videos where you share your passions and talk about the history or story behind the build (the Neon Skies lore bits, Baldur's Gate builds, the Dungeon Mega Builds, Dragons lore, ect) are always a real treat. That and any video that draws on what you've learned from other builders in the hobby space.
A few months back youtube began playing your long builds as the default next videos. I'd fall asleep watching something completely different and wake up half way through a massive dungeon build. Usually some mithryl doors, or technicolour pastal stonework.
What would've elevated the beginning segment is including vine booms after rizz and skibbidy 😂 But in all seriousness, I would say my favorites from the channel were all the Baldur's Gate and Tomb of Horrors videos. You inspired me and helped me realize that with hot glue, paint, and a little imagination, I can build anything out of nothing. All my D&D games have never been the same after I built and continue to build a lot of the terrain from scratch.

I have to laugh remembering the first of your vids I watched…as you drained a pint 🍺 . I remember saying out loud, “cheesy”. Many years, and a lot of crafting hours later - thank you, and “cheers” - and looking forward to much more cheesy content 😀.
In all honesty Tomb of Horrors and White Plume Mountain put you in a class all your own. The 2 or 3 hour vids of those projects are regulars for me when I'm mini painting or drawing
Great retrospective! I'm not sure if it's just from the camera but the black parts of the Necron terrain pieces don't seem very dark. I wonder if a different black paint or a gloss finish would help.

My random thoughts as I watch the video... 1: I am not in the know, and I cannot even find the video. What is the pillar video and why is it "S" tier? 2: Do not discount your simple forest terrain. This video came out about the time I started crafting and I made a ton of these. They see use on my table possibly more than any other pieces, and we all love them. 3: Cyberpunk City Block is my favorite video of yours...by a large margin. It is what inspired me to start my own modular Cyberpunk battle board with streets as part of the board and 1' x 1' spaces to add different modules. This project is going to be something I work on for years. 4: Army Painter sure got value out of your speed paint video - I bought the Mega 2.0 set because of it...and am very happy I did! And therefore, I am happy you promoted it. :P
Honestly I'm not think so...the whole warhammer community is kind of a different circle than my overall vibe. I never quite fully got into it, and they never really adopted me. But hopefully those two videos gave plenty enough guidance.
Brave man, Tier listing your own project library! Maybe you should consider a series of remaking your D tier videos as you said, you wish you had them back...
Hey! You put the poor hammer stuff in the D tier! Why!? It's amazing to get new people in the hobby. Why spend a ton of money on miniatures for a game you've never tried? It was also good for people with little disposable income. I generally found them very entertaining videos to watch. Yes, those are not the best quality results, but they're also very difficult models to make, and it was interesting to watch how you tackled the challenge.
@@DampeS8N Nope, although they are nearly synonymous, converting folks from 40k to GDF makes proselytize the better fit. (As opposed to just advocating something)
I love the Baldur's Gate videos. Between the actual build construction, the talking about lore, the walk down memory lane and how something as mundane as a video game inspired us for life.

Putting the Pilgrimmage on S Tier really reflects you well. Doing things for the fun of it instead of clicks only
For me necron crystals deserves a special stop above S tier cause it's the one video that got me into terrain crafting .
The Beholders were definitely S tier. I had a wiz kids one and still made another using your methods. It was so much fun.
ToH and WPM megabuilds, will always be my favs...the million views are probably all from me lol. Would love to see more classic module full builds, just due to the nostalgia of them growing up.
Episode 100 is an instant S Tier and you know it!

I miss the shirt! ;-) Awesome stuff. I've watched your channel since 2015. Keep it going!
Thx!
Wyloch - the meta-era
I loved those encounter videos man
Great retrospective! I'm not sure if it's just from the camera but the black parts of the Necron terrain pieces don't seem very dark. I wonder if a different black paint or a gloss finish would help.
It's my failure to understand the basic operation of a camera. ISO was set to auto instead of forced to 200.
Next we need the Wyloch Iceberg video
It is not fair that you put Gymnopedies by Satie on as back ground music (my go to sleep music) and then suggested people might fall asleep during it! I want to watch actively and now I’m drifting off!
I just realised I didn't make a "I lived with Scotty for a week" video... we made like a hundred video when I was there, but that one I didn't do EPIC FAIL
Gygax would rate you S+, and we all do, too!👏👏👏👏
I personally found your poorhammer builds very inspiring even if their charm has worn off for you.
we got a genshin impact cameo in Wyloch's Armory before GTA 6 this is one of the timelines ever
one criterion, two criteria
'criterias' - nope!
'proselytize', not 'prophelytize'
'reDOUT'
(Kick me - I would.)
So many tremendous looking things here - and great to have this summary look-back. I'd missed some of the vids, and not just ones you don't rate. How?
You've never done anything that isn't great to watch (AAAAAnd listen to). Thanks, applause, and congratulations on the well-deserved numbers.

Are you ever gonna bring back the modular catwalks. You only did one follow up video and it is what really inspired me to do terrain
Also I was thinking about converting your design into something that can be 3D printed
Honestly I'm not think so...the whole warhammer community is kind of a different circle than my overall vibe. I never quite fully got into it, and they never really adopted me. But hopefully those two videos gave plenty enough guidance.
@@WylochsArmorywhat do you think of my idea to make it 3D printable
@alpharius3045 lots of folks have already made various styles of 3d printable walkways. Mine are kinda flat and boring because they are cardboard.
@@WylochsArmory they still look great
The map table @ 6min looks like the nentir vale
That Dreadnought deserves A tier, every time its on screen I think it’s a normal miniature. D for Dreadnought though….
Can someone link to the durability test, the early one marked "S-Tier" around the 3:30 mark? I can't find it.
32:49 Gothic videos building? That’d be like a cinema that only shows horror movies! lol
Great idea for a video!
Making bricks while watching ✌️
When I saw your paper mini video, I kind of did the same with some generic humans but I use foam board instead of cardboard
I seem to recall you made a video about how to cook the perfect game snack video, but I can never find it
@@velkonemriam1935 it's called Missives on Precision
Cool video and interesting reflection
Could you do a chart? Episode #, subject, ranking...
That would he very helpful.
You mean different than the chart on the left side of the screen in this video?
You have rizz, Wyloch.
So much rizz you're ohio, no skibidi.
That had me in stitches lol
I miss the beer drinking intros. Cheers!
Probably went a little hard on yourself there Mr W.
Brave man, Tier listing your own project library! Maybe you should consider a series of remaking your D tier videos as you said, you wish you had them back...
Plz make a playlist of s-tier videos so I can clic, comment, and 👍🏻
Please, do more close up magic in your videos!!
You were way too hard on your poorhammer stuff my guy. You should be proud of that necron barge and dreadnought.
Didn't you make one where you make a pilgrimage to DM Scotty's house?
@@cerethpainting6606 yep that's cited in here
@@WylochsArmorymy bad. Jumped the gun 😔
I've think I've seen all of these videos. 😂
Fun fact, Wyloch does have rizz
Proselytize - but you meant evangelize both times.
@@DampeS8N Nope, although they are nearly synonymous, converting folks from 40k to GDF makes proselytize the better fit. (As opposed to just advocating something)
