Genetically? Not really. We have similar features and reoccurring themes in our cultures, national myths etc., but genetically, we are vastly different. Take Russians and Czechs for example. Or the whole Balkans population. The amount of immigration (and invasions - French, Ottoman...) from all over the world made especially the Balkan and Central Europe "Slavs" actually quite mixed. Greetings back, though, hope u all doing fine.

I just got back to Canada at Christmas. And am always heartbroken at the thought of never going back.
For those who have been following the channel ATTENTIVELY for a long time. I would like to point out that this phenomenon in Slavia, appeared around the 1800s,and it is developed especially in the 1900s. Understand who can.😉😏

As a Bulgarian this brings warmth to my heart... Really sad what the political world is trying to do to our unity. For example the current situation between Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
The biggest lie you can hear about Slavs is that we aren't genetically connected. They say yes you are linguistically connected but you are of different origins. Well, the truth says this: All Slavic countries have between 45% and 70% of I2a and R1a haplogroups combined( both are considered Slavic haplogroups that participated in the ethnogenesis of Slavs). South Slavs assimilated a lot of people of Mediterranean origin so their phenotype is slightly different from eastern and western Slavs, but they are Slavs of course. Bosnia for example, together with Belarus, has the highest percentage of Slavic haplogroups(70%). East and West Slavs assimilated a lot of Baltic tribes , Celtic tribes , Germanic tribes... But they are Slavs! Of course today all Slavic countries are 100% Slavic, doesn't matter who belongs to which haplogroup. Genetics and linguistics just confirmed undoubtedly that before 1500 years we were one nation who spoke one language! SLAVA RODUU!
When someone says stuff like that in attempt to crush Slavic nationalism and to justify his separatism for his "Greater Poland, greater Bosnia, greater Russia, greater Serbia etc.". It is best to point at the fact that language is the foundation of an ethnic group, is the main factor in ethnogenesis or maintaining ethnic identity and that culture is only a byproduct of it which in most cases evolves or changes throughout the generations. Asking what else Slavs have in common is a question that requires broad answer which is only used for crushing Slavic identity and that is also nonsensical. It's like asking what do Han Chinese have in common. Slavic language has evolved into multiple dialects/varieties which are now considered separate languages while for example Cantonese and Wu are considered Chinese dialects while not being mutually intelligible, Sicilian and Venetian are considered Italian dialects while not being mutually intelligible, and many other examples. Also when looking at the Slavic linguistic history, there is no reason to call, for example, Polish language a Polish language.
Question - being half Croatian half Lithuanian, where does Baltic countries fall in all this? There are lots of similarities egg painting, folk dancing, language is very different though but often borrowed words from Russian during Soviet times. Interested 🤔
@@luiscastaneda4583 surely so, all Europeans have various percentage of the 3 main base groups. West Europe hunter gatherers, mid east farmers and steppe pastoralists
Slavs have essentially the same culture with slight variations. The defining haplogroup of Slavs is r1a. Slavic languages have only split apart from each other relatively recently, therefore have less differences to each other than say germanic languages for instance. Slavs used to all have the same pagan religion until Christianity came and messed that up.
Some non-Slav thinks the Slavs have nothing in common! Huh? As a non-Slav myself I can assure you that we identify the Slavs mostly by what they have in common and not than by their differences. Few in Western Europe can tell the difference between a Czech or a Slovak, or a Slovene or a Croat, or until recently, between a Russian or a Ukrainian? But we know they're Slavs, not Greeks, of Germans, or Swedes. So, Mr/Ms SlavicPatriota, don't get too het up about what the non-Slavs think of you.
So why Slavic Eastern European nations still yet not make a Slavic Union same as EU? Your own currency & banking system? I mean is that really possible? I personally think the only way to unite of the Slavs is to restore back the house of Romanovs?
Most Slavic have many things in common, some have less… let’s say Czeck and Slovenian are by far quite Germanized and probably less Slavic comparing to eastern and southern Slavic countries
@@SlavicPatriota it’s just my experience, let’s say as half Serbian I always found way more in Common with Bulgarians, Ukrainians or Russians than with let’s say Czechs. And as someone who grew up in Austria I found more similarities between Czech and Germans than with other Slavic People🤷🏼♂️ it’s no offense but honestly it’s also no surprise… many people agreed with me when we had that topic
My brother, it is not a question of offence, you have the right to think it and to say it. It's just that it's tiring to see such comments again. Because neither you nor any of your friends, I think that you simply don't have enough knowledge on this subject, which explains your vision of things and your comments. But in short, I do not deny the peculiarity or link with the neighboring non-slavs, the interconnections let's say, anyway works in both directions.in the case Just study all the Slavic countries/ethnicities, and then you will simply not think like that anymore.🤷♂️😉But it would probably take you years of reading and studying.

The Cyrillic alphabet was codified from the Makedoniski dialect in Agean Makedonija, specifically around Solun. Many Makedonski traditions, dances, songs, religious customs, and cultural heritage has spread across the slavic world. The distinction between north and southern slavs is just a way to further wedge our culture and tear it from its roots. Makedonijans are indigenous to the Makedonski peninsula. Slavs are indigenous to their lands and only those who want to confuse us want you to believe different. Oj, dodole was a song my baba would sing to make the harvest full and was performed as an ancient pre-christian ritual > th-cam.com/video/sK-QX_mnq6w/w-d-xo.html Lazarki do a similar deed around easter > th-cam.com/video/eXDUFd9n6fw/w-d-xo.html These were amalgamated into Christianity, which is the maturation of our ancient practices into one cohesive religion

ceauseSCU, SCU / SKU / SKI / SKA / SKO / ZKO, typical Slavic ending. Wal-LACHIA, Lachia / Lahia is another name for Poland. Romania is 70% Slavic. Romania from ROMe, before that it was Dacia. Most known Romanian is Wlad the empaler, WLADimir.
The fact that slavs are always considered as some ethno thing makes me really sad. I partly agree with you, but it looks like you're trying to say that they all are literally the same. They really have much thing in common, but not as many, as you could expect.
I am truly sorry for your sadness if you are a Slav. Yes, all the same in the sense that we are all one. One people, one nation. Differences, of course there are. We conquered a huge territory and met other people, for the worse as well as the better, which brought among other things specificities, particularities between regions of slavia and between slavs. But yes, we have much more in common than you may think, this video is absolutely nothing, when you have studied our history and culture, you have no idea how much. I will not explain it all here, it would take more than one book on that. but believe, we have a lot in common, culturally, metaphysically etc..
The war between Russia and Ukraine started in Ukraine, when the illegal coup regime decided to go to war against Russians in Donbass and Crimea and push them out. Our politicians came to their aid, after years of pressure from the population. Dont oversimplify something just because you didnt take the time to learn basic facts that were available for years. Yes, wars suck, but genocide is worse. And right now Syrians and Iranians are more brothers to us than Poland or Ukraine. Yes, we are one people culturally, but ideologically divided.
"Dont oversimplify something just because you didnt take the time to learn basic facts that were available for years." Before you want to try to teach me a lesson, you would have done better to read my various posts and especially comments on all this. And in my turn allow me to explain to you. The problems of 2022, 2014 or 2004 etc are one thing, and I know perfectly well who did what. But one if not the main basis of this historical conflict dates back to the year 1500 1600. I would answer nothing more as I have already done. Afterwards, I understand your speech, but personally, it is not the consequences of politics or ideology that will tell me who my brothers are.

Romanians have more Slavic DNA than Macedonians, yet Romanians are classified as Romans and Macedonians as Slavs. Identity is complex and cannot be dumbed down to simply linguistics.
By the way, your last name literally means "Of the Osmans" so I find it absurd that you would be commenting about Makedonsi when your ancestors were obviously either henchmen of the ottomans or ottomans themselves that took Makedonski women as brides
bro havent fully understand that its not just only slavic people but all indo european people, germanic, slavic and celtict they all dress the same (red white and some black) speak the same language at the beginin, belive the same gods, have the same ancestors slava Europa
All Slavic People are of Macedonian descent. We used the swastika before hitler (Swastika) is the Son in different variants the Vergina Son. The first slavic colors were red and yellow. When greeks ask me where did alexander spread the slavic language and laugh, this is where he did, even similiar to Sanskrit and other asian languages.
SlavicPatriota - you are mixing Slavic people with jewish-christian ideology. You do not understand the real historic Slavic culture. Your ancestors would reject you.
When Russia invaded Ukraine, my heart bled. I am a war refugee from Serbia, my family and I left because of the war. When I saw the video of people leaving Kiev to rush to the airport, I felt that. I knew exactly what they live through. I saw a family of Ukrainians walking in Ottawa city centre, I heard them speaking. I looked at the children and I saw myself 20 years ago. I know what they will live on, how they will live and what they will eventually feel : homesick, being uprooted. That being said, I am not sure that Bulgarians qualify as slavs, don't they ? I knwo their culture is slavisized, but ethnically they are a turkic people that come from the Bulgar tribes that emigrated there. Nonetheless, I consider them slavs anyways, just not ethnically.
Being from North Macedonia, our culture, traditions, DNA, history, politics, present and ancient religions, etc is all undeniably identical to Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, and Turkey rather than to Russia and Poland. Our language shares some similarities to Russian but thats about where all the similarities end. Our people have our own distinct culture, we just adopted a Slavic language, just like how Egypt adopted a Semitic language but that doesnt make them any less Egyptian.
In view of your speech, you will not agree, I know it. I will not make a debate in comment, that said, you can say what you want it will not change anything. In short. To say what you say, you simply haven't studied Slavic culture and history (general, or Polish, Russian, etc.) or not enough, otherwise you won't make these comments.🤷♂ Just one example, "dodola" in Macedonia, the song and ritual that goes with it, is linked to the ancient Slavic gods, in this case Perun, whom all Slavs knew Polish and Russian too. and to link this ancient socio-cultural example common in Slavic, to romania that you talk about in your other comment, this tradition also exists in romania, which was transmitted to them by our people in the past, like the easter eggs decorated by example. In short, this is just an example.😉 You are the example unfortunately (like others) which are the consequences of the non-Slavic-ideologies disasters. Because before that, it never existed in Slavia, namely Macedonians, Serbs, Ukrainians, Slovaks etc, who do not call themselves Slavs, or that they are just "speakers" of the Slavic language. To say that the Slavs only have linguistic similarities, was born in the West, not in Slavia🤷♂. Then via several factors, other others the previous one, we see today of Slavs, who practice themselves the deslavization.🤦♂😞🤷♂
@@SlavicPatriota Again, I am from Macedonia so I would think I can speak on the behalf of my people when I say this, we dont identify as Slavs in any sense other than linguistically. Just like how Moroccans, Syrians, and Sudanese are genetically and historically and culturally and in all other terms different, other than the fact they share the same language. Or how Portuguese people are very different and share a completely different ancestry and history and identity from French or even Romanian or Aromanian people. Same goes for Macedonians. Just like Portuguese people didnt originate in Central Italy, Macedonians didnt originate in Ukraine - so we dont really share the same origins, culture (ours is mediterrenean/balkan, Ukrainian is carpathian culture), our history is Macedonian, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and Ukraine is Slavic, Kievan-Rus, Vikings, etc, our food is quite literally the same as Turkish and Greek, Ukrainian food is central european, Ukrainian music is central european and ours is Oriental/Balkan. Should I go on? Besides a language family that my people adopted from Eastern European invaders, we dont share much of anything else. We are both "Slavs" in the linguistic sense, but definitely not in the "same people/same origins" sense. Far from it.
@@SlavicPatriota Ive also said this before and ill say it again. Romanians have more Slavic DNA than Macedonians, yet Romanians are classified as Romans and Macedonians as Slavs. Identity is complex and cannot be dumbed down to simply linguistics.
Samra Osmanovska "Easter Egg decorating is common in all of Eastern Europe, Slavic countries and non Slavic included. "Slavic music" is not a thing. Macedonian music is much more Oriental and Polish music is central European (aka they have nothing in common). Slavic singing could be something you can argue but even that is a loose argument. Circle dancing, again, is common among all of Central and Eastern Europe and even Middle East, so definitely not just a Slavic thing. You have any more arguments or??" "Macedonians are Slavs only in the linguistic sense. We dont share culture, history, DNA, or anything else for that matter with other non Balkan Slavic countries. And thats a fact. Macedonia is connected to Poland as much as Portugal is to Romania. Historically, they have nothing to do together other than they share a language family." So "Again, I am from Macedonia so I would think I can speak on the behalf of my people when I say this, we dont identify as Slavs" It's funny those I know don't say like you, like what.🤷♂😉 The egg and its decoration, for example in Romania or Hungary, was introduced into their traditions via the Slavs during mutual relations during tribal relations. All historians and ethnologists know it, or simply when we have studied it. Something you probably didn't do, given what you said. The circle at the base is not a simple dance, (this too if you would have studied the culture you would have known it) it was a ritual linked to the ancient Slavic deities, and the pre-Christian beliefs, therefore cohesion common vision of things. Other people do so, so what? did I say the opposite. There are two genetic poles common to all Slavs on different scales, everyone knows that, it's not a discovery. The regions of Slavia have obvious particularisms, nothing surprising, obviously the relations with other people and culture, explains that, everyone knows.🤷♂ In short, your revisionism and negationism are distressing, like your desire for deslavization, as much as your lack of culture is pathetic. Besides, perhaps, are you from a non-Slavic minority in Macedonia and also Muslim, which "perhaps" apart from your lack of culture would explain your attitude. Add to this that all your discourse and vision of things is unconsciously the consequences of nationalism and nationalist ethnology, stemming from the concept of Slavic nations introduced around the 1800s.you are an example of modern auto-deslavization. Still, thank you, because your comments only highlight what I say here or on the channel, so thank and bye Cordially.👋
Slavic people are converted into christian and Muslims etc so how will u conserve your culture the only way is to revert back into your ancestral roots.

Somebody divided us long time ago brother and sisters, nothing more, we are all geneticly similar. Greetings from Serbia, south Slavic land. :)
Greetings back, though, hope u all doing fine.

my dad left when i was a child. He left a encyclopedia set. And i read and re-read the history of Russia and the soviet union when i was 7 and all through my teens. Then 20 years ago i started traveling through the former soviet union and the balkans. I fell in love with Serbia, not a women like most people would expect. But Serbia plain and simple. I just got back to Canada at Christmas. And am always heartbroken at the thought of never going back.

RÓD / na-RÓD, te same korzenie.
The biggest lie you can hear about Slavs is that we aren't genetically connected. They say yes you are linguistically connected but you are of different origins.
Well, the truth says this:
All Slavic countries have between 45% and 70% of I2a and R1a haplogroups combined( both are considered Slavic haplogroups that participated in the ethnogenesis of Slavs).

The defining value of Slavs is GLORY aka Slava where slav derived from.

Most Slavic have many things in common, some have less… let’s say Czeck and Slovenian are by far quite Germanized and probably less Slavic comparing to eastern and southern Slavic countries

Гопака 😍
The war between Russia and Ukraine started in Ukraine, when the illegal coup regime decided to go to war against Russians in Donbass and Crimea and push them out. Our politicians came to their aid, after years of pressure from the population. Dont oversimplify something just because you didnt take the time to learn basic facts that were available for years. Yes, wars suck, but genocide is worse. And right now Syrians and Iranians are more brothers to us than Poland or Ukraine. Yes, we are one people culturally, but ideologically divided.
"Dont oversimplify something just because you didnt take the time to learn basic facts that were available for years."

And in my turn allow me to explain to you.
The problems of 2022, 2014 or 2004 etc are one thing, and I know perfectly well who did what.
But one if not the main basis of this historical conflict dates back to the year 1500 1600.

One people one blood one rod We are Slavic.
In short. To say what you say, you simply haven't studied Slavic culture and history (general, or Polish, Russian, etc.) or not enough, otherwise you won't make these comments.🤷♂
Just one example, "dodola" in Macedonia, the song and ritual that goes with it, is linked to the ancient Slavic gods, in this case Perun, whom all Slavs knew Polish and Russian too. and to link this ancient socio-cultural example common in Slavic, to romania that you talk about in your other comment, this tradition also exists in romania, which was transmitted to them by our people in the past, like the easter eggs decorated by example.
In short, this is just an example.😉
You are the example unfortunately (like others) which are the consequences of the non-Slavic-ideologies disasters.
You sound like a Bulgar Tatar. Better kiss your Khan
Samra Osmanovska
"Easter Egg decorating is common in all of Eastern Europe, Slavic countries and non Slavic included. You have any more arguments or??"
"Macedonians are Slavs only in the linguistic sense. We dont share culture, history, DNA, or anything else for that matter with other non Balkan Slavic countries. And thats a fact. Macedonia is connected to Poland as much as Portugal is to Romania. Historically, they have nothing to do together other than they share a language family."
So
"Again, I am from Macedonia so I would think I can speak on the behalf of my people when I say this, we dont identify as Slavs"
It's funny those I know don't say like you, like what.🤷♂😉
The egg and its decoration, for example in Romania or Hungary, was introduced into their traditions via the Slavs during mutual relations during tribal relations.
The regions of Slavia have obvious particularisms, nothing surprising, obviously the relations with other people and culture, explains that, everyone knows.🤷♂
In short, your revisionism and negationism are distressing, like your desire for deslavization, as much as your lack of culture is pathetic.
Still, thank you, because your comments only highlight what I say here or on the channel, so thank and bye
